I can't say I'm elated this morning to spend the day with John. Nevertheless, I ordered myself out of bed and into the shower. Not wanting to entice John, I elected for a pair of jeans and a red hoodie, along with my leather coat, having tossed my pungent winter coat in the washing bin upon my return from the cafe last night. After my hair dried, I tied it back in a ponytail and inspected myself in the mirror. A plain Jane, just what I'd hoped for.
This morning, Alice and I decided a little winter shopping was in order. Considering yesterday's frigid winter's bite and today being payday, was enough of an incitement to send us shopping first thing. As soon as we purchased our winter accessories, black scarf's, gloves and matching hats, we

“I spoke to my boss,” she points towards John, “and asked if I could call in sick so I could spend the day with you. Of course, he said, yes, so here I am.”
“I'm really happy you're here,” I say, omitting the part about being a little afraid to be alone with John.
Despite the speed demons driving, I had a fantastic time with my new friends. After exerting our energy from walking around the mall, we stopped for a late lunch, before watching a movie together, and headed back home. John invited me back to his apartment to spend quality alone time together, yet I felt apprehensive at the idea of being alone with him in his domain, and politely declined his invitation.
“Thank you, once again for taking me,” I say as I exit the car.
“Thanks for coming out with us,” says Patsy.
This time, I wait by the building door and wave them goodbye before heading inside.
As I skip my way up the stairs, ready to recap my day to Alice, my phone shrills, causing me to pause just before my front door to retrieve it. “Hey, Alice.”
“Hi Eva, I'm just calling to let you know I won't be home tonight.”
I try to hide the disappointment in my voice. “Oh, okay.”
She begins giggling. “Stop it,” she says to the man with her, a voice I've become all too familiar with.
The fun and laughter, all the elated joy I captured throughout the day with John and Patsy, dissolves, leaving me feeling dejected.
Though I can't hear what he's saying to her, I do hear his laughter mingle with hers. Up

“What did you say?” I mutter to him because of how loud he is being.
"Baby?" He giggled. I could hardly hear him speaker over the loud music in the background.
“I reckon I just might be a little jealous,” said Henry. “The two of you seem mighty cozy since that day in the cave.”
He looks around doesn’t see anything squeezing him and shrugs confused. She just starts bawling and laughing so hard, "I guess we still have differences on how we say things".
This time, I wait by the building door and wave them goodbye before heading inside.
“Excuse me? That’s none of your damn business.” I say, and place my hand on my hip. I’m so mad at him that I’m now blowing the hair out of my face instead of just tucking it back.
“The job, please. I can’t deal with her right now. The police were there early, there was a helicopter, Mooney’s man wasn’t there, and there was too many police.” I listed.
Fascinated by her ability to switch topics to keep the conversation going, he says nothing. In fact, the more she talks the more he no longer sees her as the rude bitch.
If. If this, if that. If not for that, I'd have had it in the bag. "I'd have won if he didn't topdeck raigeki." Ramram in the grave and a whiptail in hand and you choose to summon drident with your chakanine. If he didn't have raigeki though! Yeah I guess your double drident wins if he didn't have raigeki but he had no board wipes in his grave and you go for it anyway. "If he didn't have honest!" as you sit there with dimensional prison in hand. Yeah, good on ya. If.
Initially golden eyes were drawn to examining the manor that stood imposingly existent, as most noble dwellings did, though at the question they turned menacingly towards the offending party. Plenty of Eliseo’s days had passed with his brother’s devious second hand man lingering overhead, and he could detect the subtle threat that lay dormant beneath a guise of parting pleasantries. If features weren’t already stiffened from the metal that encased the lower half of his face the outright disrespect of such an inquiry would have been capable of producing the same result, and yet he felt the message was conveyed well by the narrowed gleam of an already impatient glare. “Ensuring the sanctity of the Devore name is, and will always be, my
As the sun peeked over the grassy mountains, I sat patiently on the dining room table as the phlebotomist drew my blood, for the fourth time. For the past few weeks, my symptoms had fallen into an oscillating pattern, changing, with no indication. I’ve seen about every doctor in cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, and pediatrics, yet none of them could come to a comprehensive conclusion. As school rapidly approaches so does the need for an answer, along with my fears. I wonder how only a few weeks ago everything seemed perfectly normal, with me even attending a debate camp where I met the most amazing people, and how everything changed from there.
“My name is Ty” he starts, “I never knew that toys could talk! Especially not this kind!”
I take one last look in the mirror, making sure that Lexi 's white hairs aren 't on my dress and open the bedroom door. I stick out my head to see if my grandma or Athena are outside. I just know that they are going to ask something.
I stood next to her door for a couple more minutes before replying with a silent, "all right" and walked back into my bedroom, going back to my book.
