“Where are we?” Satomi asked, brushing damp curls from her forehead and peering anxiously about. “None of these woods look like my home.”
“We’re in Wishing Stones,” I said, standing up and brushing dead leaves off my nightgown.
Satomi shook her head, then turned on me. “Really, Fiona, you didn’t have to go with me! Think of the education you could have finished! And you too, Lucas!” she shook her head again. “I could have gotten along, you know, back at home.”
“That’s irrelevant,” said Lucas. “And I think you’re wrong. Fee would have been expelled for having those books on absorption, eventually.”
“Stop calling me Fee!” I exclaimed. “Not only does it sound like sugar taxes, but it also gives me a headache.”
“Then can I call Satomi Toni?”

I’ll have to get clean sheets, though, because Cookie enjoys eating in there a bit too much.”
“Sounds fine,” Satomi said cheerily. “What next?”
“We have school in the morning. We’ll want to get up around four, though, because that’s when the Village Congregation opens and I want to introduce you two as my seventh cousins... sixty times removed.” I made a shooing motion with a strand of water that had escaped my hand while I was deep in thought. “Go on, Lucas, and if you’re worried about what to wear in the morning….”
“I have clothes,” Lucas interrupted. “But I agree, trying to fit in is a great idea. Too bad we couldn’t have avoided Satomi’s expulsion in the first place.”
“That’s fine,” Satomi sighed. “It’s just that I know that I didn’t do it, and that makes it worse.”
“Let’s break up for the night,” I said. “Come, Satomi. I think I’ve got some sheets in the closet that you’ll like.”
…..
I was awoken by the blaring of my alarm clock at three the next morning. Rolling out of bed, I slammed my hand down on the OFF button and leapt out of bed. From the next room, I could hear Satomi groaning. I pulled on my school uniform except for the shoes, which didn’t fit, and left the room without even bothering to pull open the curtains. Satomi stumbled out of her chamber, rubbing her eyes and yawning. She was wearing a short black skirt and a sky-blue sweater that did wonderful things for her eyes.
“Good morning,” she yawned. “Oh, I don’t know what
Onida tucked us in. “We can leave the children with your mother tomorrow if you like and go berry picking in the secret patch.”
Evans has escaped into a daydream," Mrs. Johnson said, grasping her attention. All the class turned in their seats and stared at her. She slid into her seat out of embarrasment. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after class? But, boy was she wrong.
“No, I will.” It had been my responsibility to look after Koia, and it was my fault she was lost.
“Don’t be stupid next time.” She said. “Or you won’t hear the end of my mouth.”
“I don’t know, okay” Cristina said , then bit her bottom lip. “Maybe coming here was a bad idea.”
Veronica walked into the kitchen, fresh, clean, and free from the dream of earlier. She wore only a casual outfit of jeans and camisole top. No need to dress up if she had the evening off. She brewed a pot of extremely strong coffee and ate a slice of dry toast as she waited. She never was a huge breakfast eater. She saw an open box of cereal with loose cereal pieces on the counter. She rolled her eyes as she cleaned up the mess and put the box away. The open box was one of her biggest pet peeves.
“Why are you idling? There are chores.” She appeared at the corner of the hut; his little
“Then what does it matter to you what I told him?” Everleigh's eyes widen a little as she realized that I had thought of something she hadn't.
"You look tired," Rhonda said. "How about you take five and I’ll wash them and then you can dry for a bit."
Everyone just sat in silence after Dally had said she was right. "I can help all of you adjust to the new world... It's just going to be really hard for me to do. It's so nice to finally see all of you in person after reading that book... It made me cry so much." She chuckled to herself. "I got to learn about all of you guys, even though we never met in person... So it's kind of my job to help you, I guess." She said, smiling a bit.
Jean took the nightshirt in his arms as he's led over to another cushion on the opposite side of the room from Eren. “If you need anything I'll be sleeping near Eren. Don't hesitate to ask! Goodnight Jean.”
“I know it’s your job to protect her since you’re her twin and everything but admit it. Our lives would be so much better without her and with Jake in place.”
"But that 's not going to keep Bella from throwing me under the bus. You know how she hates me. If she goes down for this she is just going to take me with her." I said. I have better things to do then stare at my four walls for however long Uncle Charlie grounds me for.
Millie Barker is a remarkably reserved (can you think of a better word) twenty year old. At present, she is unencumbered by the usual plights of youth and this suits her just fine. Now, aside from this Millie does not seem to be particularly remarkable. She is of average height, with average features, she received average grades, and garnered average likability from those that she interacted with. Her clothing usually consists of jeans and a comfortable top in an unremarkable color variety of grey, white, and putrid (does that make it remarkable?) green. However, what she seems to lack with external adornments, she makes up for with internal ones. What coalesces inside this seemingly unremarkably average individual is akin to a beautifully
“ Lucas.” I whispered. “ Can I sit at your lunch table today?” I asked.
