Should 16 year olds be allowed to drive? Some people say that they should not be allowed to because they are to irresponsible by drinking and driving or texting and driving which leads to crashes and deaths so the age should be raised to 17 or 18. Those people as wrong because not all 16 year old as bad drivers and get influence like that, all teenager should not be punished for the work of some.
Reason one why sixteen year olds should be allowed to drive is because in passage 1 it says,¨ Turning 16 and getting a driver's license is a rite of passage that most teens have worked hard to earn.¨ This shows that teens work hard to get their driver's license because it's like a milestone like when a baby bird finally leaves their mothers nest. It's kinda like that for teenages getting their license because they had worked so hard to get it. So too just take that away and make then wait another year or two just because some teens like to cause trouble does not seen very fair.

Both parents work, and he had to get himself from football practice too his job as a lifeguard.¨ This shows that even though it might be better to wait teens still need a license to be able to do the things that they need to do because their parents can't always be there too drive then some where so they need to be able to
For many teenagers in the United States their 16th birthday is an important milestone. This is the age that teenagers begin to integrate more into society as they begin to drive and experience new levels of freedom. As 16 is the usual minimum age for employment in most industries some teens even get jobs for personal reason or to benefit their household. The minimum age to acquire a driver's licence should not increase to 18 as younger teens will not be able to help provide for their families with current public transportation methods in the United States.
Young drivers should have to wait until they are 18 years old to get their license because 16 year olds are more likely to get in an accident than an older driver. One author said, “Sixteen-year-old drivers are the most likely to crash, so raising the age at which teens could get their license would save many lives…” (Rubin). Rubin gives a valid reason to why the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18. If the driving age is raised, there would be less people involved in wrecks, which would help the world out as a whole. Even though 16 year olds are more accident prone than other drivers, taking 16 year olds off of the road would save the lives of everyone on the road. However, there are people who believe that the minimum driving age should not be raised because of various reasons. One article states that, “If they have to wait until they are 17 or 18, they remain dependent on parents practically until they are ready to go off to college, join the military or take a
Putting teens on the road at a young age as low as 15-16-years-old allows them to gain experience that will help them become more accustomed to the road when they get their driving licences at 18. As stated in the article, Teenage Driving Laws May Just Delay Deadly Crashes, it says “Many teenagers, rather than deal with the extra restrictions for 16-17 -year-olds, are simply waiting until they turn 18, and skipping the restrictions altogether. As a result, a greater proportion of inexperienced drivers hit the road” (40). This proves that teens who do not drive at 16 are more likely to get into car crashes, because they wait til 18 to avoid being restricted like the 16- 17- year-olds. Teens who skip the 16 -17-year-old restrictions are just starving themselves from gaining the early knowledge on driving that is needed to prevent fatal crashes. The same article also says that, “There have been 1,348 fewer deadly crashes involving 16-year-old
There are about 2,000,000 sixteen year old drivers in United States, meaning that almost 2,000,000 million people depend on the current driving age for many things. Having a license at age 16 gives that person opportunities they wouldn’t be able to have without the freedom a car gives, such as getting a job that could help their family, driving themselves to school or sports practice if their parents can’t or being able to see their friends when they want. Having your license at 16 also gives teens a taste of independence and responsibility. The driving age has to stay at sixteen because teens and families depend on it for many things and it introduces a sense of responsibility for the teen.
The big debate as to whether the legal driving age should be raised to eighteen is an ongoing issue. There are both arguments for and against this matter. Younger drivers, as well as old ones, can cause many life-threatening accidents; therefore, raising the minimum driving age could significantly reduce the number of accidents. The accident rates can be lowered considerably if the legal driving age is bumped up to eighteen. This would mean that no more kids could get hurt or worse, killed in a car accident.
The driving age should stay at 16 because it gives teens freedom. It gives teens freedom because if they don't want to be around there parents they can just leave and go hang out with there friends. If the
I feel that when you are 16 you should be able to drive. When you are 16, it is almost everyone's dream to drive. We don’t need any irresponsible accidents, but 16 is a mature age. If you take the right class; study and learn, then it you should be just fine. When you are a 16, you want to be more independent. Independence comes with responsibility. I’m sure your parents don’t want to drive you around everywhere.
I understand that individuals want the driving age to be raised. Sixteen-year-olds can be very irresponsible and immature. There are also the safety concerns that can happen, for example, car crashes. However, I believe that the age requirement to drive should stay the same. Teens get the freedom they have been wanting. Teens are able to get jobs to help save up for college. Teens can also learn the responsibilities that come with driving or owning a vehicle. Therefore, what I am trying to say is sixteen-year-olds are responsible enough to
Teens should should be eligible to drive when they received a work permit or have proven to parents that they are trustworthy and enough to take on the responsibility of driving. Taking away the driving privilege away from teens will also take away the chance for them to experience the responsibilities of growing up. Allowing a 16 year old and up can also be seen as a way for teens to take on responsibilities as and adults because driving is already a privilege so being a teen will make the fact that driving is a privilege paramount and it will help them to be more mature to keep the privilege.
12% of distracted drivers that get involved in fatal accidents are teens. If 16 year olds could not drive then there would be less accidents on the road. 16 year olds also cannot do a lot of things that adults can, this is for a reason and driving should be one of them.16 years old is too young to get a drivers license.
Should teens be able to driving before 16? I think they should because what happens if something goes wrong. Or if a parent forgot something.
Busy parents, a busy young adult life, and mature teens are why the legal driving age should not be raised to the minimum age of eighteen. Sixteen is a traditional milestone in a teens life, why would one want to take that tradition away? All the opportunities sixteen year olds receive driving would be ruined if the driving age is changes to eighteen, which could also ruin a teens future. Driving is an American rite of passage and the system for it is fine just the way it is. Let’s keep the age sixteen sweet and leave the legal driving age
The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen-year old’s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license.
Do you think that we should be able to drive at 16 ? well i think that we should be able to drive because the teens siblings will need a ride to school and they will have to walk a long way to school like me i go to copper trail and i live far so i have to walk to school with a lot of bags my mother won't take me or my father so this my opinion.
The first reason that they should not raise the driving age is because of freedom. Teenagers are always wanting to go places and their parents don’t want to take them anymore. In passage one it says “ Turning 16 and getting a driver's licence is a rite of passage that most teens have worked hard to earn”. This is saying that all their life teens have been working hard to get there licence and
