Con Side of Debate Summary: “Should abortion be made illegal in the United States?” Imagine, over 53 million people are killed in the worst case of genocide ever recorded in the history of mankind. What should be done to stop those terrible atrocities? Should someone be hold accountable? What about the senseless slaughter of innocent fetuses? Abortion has affected us all in one way or another since Roe vs. Wade, and
Should Abortion Be Illegal in the United States? On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court’s decision of Roe v. Wade to legalize abortions in the United States began the controversial debate about abortion that has continued to dominate current ethical and political debates. Over fifty-two million abortions have been performed legally in the United States from 1973 to 2010 (Ertelt). Even with scientific advancements showing fetus development, abortions are still performed on 21% of all pregnancies in America according to a national statistic in 2011. Currently there are about 1 million abortions in the United States each year (“Abortions in America”). With the exception of saving a mother’s life, abortion should be completely illegal in
In the time it took you to read this, one child has died from being aborted.
A topic that is still under much debate is whether or not women should have the right to an abortion. This is a constitutional right that all women must have in order for everyone to have true equal rights. The two sides of this debate argue whether or not the fetus is “alive,” whether abortion is ever necessary, and whether or not the procedure has negative consequences. While the “pro-life” side focuses mostly on the interpretation of the definition of life, “pro-choice” advocates stress the importance of women’s rights. A woman should always have control over her body without having to give a reason.
Abortion, to some it is the murder of an innocent fetus with a heartbeat. To others it is considered an option to be freed from the responsibilities of parenthood. We all have different views that can be controversial to the opinions of others. Yet, there are proven facts and cases where making abortion illegal is the best decision. Propaganda for Prolife is everywhere, but is there enough to show the world how wrong abortion is? I believe there is not, yet there are some very emotional advertisements that can change your whole perspective. Abortion should be considered illegal because it is considered murder and can have severe consequences for woman, and there are other options to chose instead of abortion.
In the past few decades, the issue of abortion rights has created debates and controversy within the United States. Those who criticize the act of abortion – pro-life – argue that the act of abortion is equivalent to the murder of a baby. Those who support the legalization of abortion – pro-choice – argues women should be able to choose whether or not they want to have an abortion. Currently, abortion is legal in all states – a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe vs. Wade. However, it has become increasingly common for states to create anti-abortion laws, which makes it more difficult to have an abortion. In 2014, Missouri state representative Rick Brattin proposed H.B.131, a house bill that would require women to receive a written consent from the biological father in order to have an abortion. This bill serves to prevent women from having an abortion.
ABORTION Abortion is a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. There are series of legal, moral and ethical issues which may arise about abortion. Most arguments about abortion are often focused on political insinuations and the legal aspect of such actions. Some frequently asked questions’ regarding the issue is if the practice should be outlawed and regarded as murder or should women have the right to practice it. For example, prior to becoming pregnant, some women feel that they would be able to choose the abortion option without trouble. However, even with reasons why having an abortion would be the best option, some women feel that this decision would not be right for them. On the other hand, some women have a strong belief that abortion is unethical prior to becoming pregnant.
Do you think abortion should be allowed in the USA? Abortion Is the killing of a human being. Killing an unborn child is like killing a human being. It’s basically like taking a life of a person. Abortion shouldn’t be allowed in the USA because a woman is taking a person's right to life. ABortion should not be allowed because it is murder.
Introduction It is known that one out of every three teen girls get pregnant at least once before
Imagine a woman was raped and later became pregnant. Shouldn 't she have the right to abort the child or should she be forced to deliver? Put yourself in her shoes. Can you imagine the pain she might feel every time she looks at the child? Should she be forced to endure this? Women should be allowed to have abortions under circumstances such as these.
Kelsi Hodgkin Composition 1 Professor Chipps 19 October 2015 Should Abortion Be Legal A common debate in the world today involves abortion, the deliberate end of human pregnancy, and whether or not it should be legalized. “Every year in the world there are an estimated 40-50 million abortions. This corresponds to approximately 125,000 abortions per day” (“Abortions Worldwide this Year”). On one side of the argument, people are not disturbed by this grotesque number, and on the other side there are people outraged and simply appalled. Although people attempt to deem abortion acceptable in society because of circumstances like the mother not being able to support the child or in instances of rape, it is still morally wrong.
Not only does every abortion kill an innocent human being in the womb, but also, it puts the mother at risk of dying. In fact, legal abortion has been reported as the fifth leading cause of maternal death in the United States (After Abortion par. 8). According to a study done in Finland by the statistical analysis unit of Finland National Research and Development Center for Welfare and Health, “women who abort are approximately four times more likely to die in the following year than women who carry their pregnancies to term (After Abortion par. 3)”. They found that women who aborted in the year before their death were sixty percent more likely to die of natural causes, four times more likely to die of injuries and fourteen times more likely to die from homicide. One example of natural causes that may lead to death is cancer. Women with a history of abortions are at a higher risk of having cervical, ovarian and liver cancer compared to women with no history of abortion. The increased cancer rates after abortion may be linked to the “unnatural disruptions of the hormonal changes that accompany pregnancy and untreated cervical damage…(After Abortion par. 10)”. Furthermore, women have also experienced psychological and emotional problems after their abortions. In fact, psychological and emotional effects following abortions are more common than physical effects and can range from slight regret to more serious problems like
When one hears the word ‘abortion’ a lot of emotions and mixed feelings come to mind. Abortion has been and always will be a topic of heated debate. Whether one is ‘pro-choice’ or ‘pro-life’ can depend on many different factors. One’s upbringing and religious views play a major role when it comes to supporting abortion or not. There are many reasons that a woman could be getting an abortion therefore people should not be quick to judge. If a woman feels like her life or the child’s life will not be suitable for survival, then she should be respected for her decision. A woman is responsible for her own body and the actions that occur to her own body. Therefore, abortion should be solely a woman’s choice.
Abortion has become a common argument topic in America; numerous individuals consider themselves pro-life and others pro-choice. Those who consider themselves pro-life oppose abortion, while those who are pro-choice advocate for abortion to be legalized. I believe that abortion should be illegal and that life should be recognized upon conception.
Issue The subject shown in this paper is a classic debate. Whether heard of in school or online or had personal experience this is something that has been a growing issue for many years. This issue can either tear families apart or bring them closer. It can break hearts or make one happier. If not guessed yet the subject that will be discussed in this paper is abortions. This is a non-going debate at whether it is unethical or just plain cruel to have an abortion. Some believe that women should not have an option of “killing” a unborn baby and others think women should have the right to make their own decisions and what makes them happy, at the end of the day they are the mother. The thing about abortions is everyone is affected in one way or another. It is the difference between life and death. Until one is put in the situation it would be hard to imagine but everyone is impacted on the choice of abortions. Think personally what if your mother had you aborted, you wouldn’t be here. What if Edison was aborted? We wouldn’t have light. It is a huge issue that affects everyone. Canada has many abortions each year but the numbers are gradually declining. In a study done by 5 scientists you see the numbers in Canada for measures of legal abortions between 1996 and 2003. In 1996 there were 111,800 abortions in one year and in 2003 there were 104,200. (Gilda Sedgh, Stanley K. Henshaw, Susheela Singh, Akinrinola Bankole and Joanna Drescher). The numbers are declining by a -0.3%
