Have you ever wonder how it felt to have a partner for 30 years, but according to the law, you are not a family member? Has your partner been sick and you could not make any decisions regarding their health, because you are not family? Also, this person for whom you have shared your life with cannot and will not qualify for health insurance as a spouse? Hospitals cannot legally allow gay partners to receive medical information about their condition without it being a blood relative. These are all just some of the difficulties that gay people have encountered for many years. We as heterosexual people do not encounter these problems and take it for granted that everybody is and should be treated equal. It is an issue about equal rights. Gay marriage is a reality, it is just that society needs to be accepting and force laws to change. Just think about this, there are approximately eight million adults that are either gay, lesbian or bisexual and compromise about three and half percent of the adult population (Gates, 2011)
Gay married should be legalized for many reasons. It would help the gay couples out economically, because they would be able to have insurance for their spouse. The couple would also be able to file taxes as a legal couple, married couples have better tax incentives (Marriage Bonus) and deductibles than do single couples. Not to mention that these couples could make decision for each other in time of a health crisis. These couples would also be able
Gay marriage should be legal because as woman and man, all individuals have the same right in society; because same-sex couples can constitute a good based family; because it is just a way to make official a common union nowadays, even with the religious issue; because it is not related to polygamy; and because love matters and it does not differ in nature according to the sex of its object or the person who experiences it.
Gays and lesbians exist all over the world just like everybody. There are different opinions on gay marriage based upon religion , culture or different beliefs. A problem that we have encountered for a long period of time is that gays and lesbians are discrimated against. Just like heterosexuals, homosexuals need marriage rights too. Gay marriage should be legalized because it is a civil right, the denial of gay marriage promotes discrimation and inequality, and a marriage is more beneficial than a civil union.
Same-sex couples should be able to have the same benefits as hetersexual couples since there are 1,138 benefits rights and protections that married couples automatically receive once married. Also, taking these rights away from them will make things unfair. You might think, “Who says that we have to be fair?” Well the bible, the bible says to treat everybody fairly. With that, a huge amount of homophobes are christian since what they believe in is god and he made a man and a women. But, he also said to treat people fairly. If that's not enough, equality is a big protest all around the world and not allowing these people the rights and protections of marriage could not only lead to homosexual anger it could lead to anger all around the United
Gay marriage has been a controversial topic throughout all of time. Until recently, straight marriage was the only kind of marriage acceptable to most people. Gay marriage is defined as the legal marriage between two people of the same sex. In the United States of America, Same-sex marriage is legal, but it has not always been that way. Since the 70’s, the path to marriage equality for homosexuals has not been easy. It took blood, sweat, tears, and countless hours of protest for gay marriage to gain equality in the US, but in the end, it was all worth it.
Gay marriage should not be legalized because it is uncivil. Many states have said that marriage is between a man and a women. Gay marriage is not between a man and a women, and that is uncivil. Gay
In the present time, marriage between two people of the same sex is legal in 37 states and the District of Columbia. During the course of the United States’ history, people have fought discrimination. People has battled to recognize equality for racial minorities, women, people with disabilities, and immigrants. As a result, denying some people, the option to marry due to their sexual orientation is discriminatory and creates the idea of a second of class citizens. I am pro-gay marriage not only for what I have stated before but also for the following disclosure.
Gay marriage should be made legal because it is a human right and not a privilege. In 1950 interracial marriage was illegal, yet now modern society understands that it was a law that denied equal rights to couples who loved each other. This principle also applies to gay people because denying human rights to a specific section of society (i.e. the homosexual community) is discriminatory. (Infogr.am 2015). The section of same sex couples in Australia are also increasing annually by drastic levels (as shown in the graph in the appendix) and so it would be common sense to openly include gay couples in the law. (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2013).
There has been a huge debate in the United States of America of whether or not homosexuals should be able to get married. Well, most people right now are leaning towards them getting married, but they should be able to, except call it something else, because being “married” is being man and wife, not man and man/ wife and wife.
I think one of the most important rights of same-sex marriage is love. Marriage conveys the love, commitment, and emotional bond needed in a relationship; therefore, gay marriage, too, conveys the true meaning of love since a gay/lesbian person gets to marry the person they love. Love is a universal feeling; therefore, the need of feeling loved and accepted in society are feelings that all of us humans share in common. Society must not define who you get to love or marry since the love between two people of the same gender is precisely as tangible and unquestionable as the love between any married couple. I strongly believe that legalizing gay marriage adds not only a sentimental value but also a legal status to same-sex relationships. Now that gay marriage has been legalized more gay couples feel that they will be less likely to be judge by society as individuals who cannot commit to a long lasting relationship. Even though same-sex marriage was recently allowed in the United States, it will help future gay and lesbian generations. The GLBT community will no longer have to hide their love for each other, society will be less likely to discriminate and judge whenever they see a gay or lesbian couple holding hands and most importantly there will be less GLBT people committing suicide. Moreover, no religion should dictate who receives a civil union license because I believe that God sees no color, race,
The legalization of same sex marriage has been fuming since the 20th century. Gay marriage is very important to this society, gay marriage is when someone who is the same sex wants to get married and love each other. Gay marriage is relevant as to regular marriage. Legalizing same sex marriage is very difficult because of discrimination, religious reasoning or people who just don't support it at all. Even though people don't support gay marriage one hundred percent everyone should have the opportunity and benefits to enjoy to love and marry who they want.
The debate on whether or not homosexuals should be allowed to marry has been ongoing for quite a long period of time. While quite a number of viewpoints have been advanced in support of gay marriage, there are those who feel that legalizing the same would be wrong from both a moral and spiritual perspective. Currently, homosexual marriages are illegal in a majority of states. Although the debate on whether or not gay marriage should be legalized persists, I am of the opinion that legalizing the same would cause damage to both our moral and spiritual fabric.
In today’s society, there are certain stereotypical people that are uninterested in gay or lesbian marriage. Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage should be legal and a non-punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more children will be adopted, and people will not feel like second-class citizens.
“8” is play based on Proposition 8 where a same sex couple filed a lawsuit against the state of California. The play is a great example of equality. Everyone in the play got to defend what he or she believed in. The play “8” was written by Dustin Lance Black. It gives the audience a look into the argument of both sides of same sex marriage. The actors did a great job of getting their points across about why and why not gay marriage should be recognized. One side argued that gay marriage is redefining marriage and when raising children, it is better for them to see a woman and man married not a mother and mother, while the other side argued that gay marriage is not redefining marriage and that it doesn’t matter because they have the right to marry the person they want to marry whether it be same sex, or race. The actors in the play were very believably. I felt as if I was witnessing a real case in court. They stated “facts” and most of them had their information correct to back it up. There were a couple instances where someone began arguing their case and had nothing to back up what they were speaking about.

Should gay couples be allowed to marry seems to be the question on a lot of people’s minds these days and the answer to this question is currently being addressed throughout our country. Both gay and straight people share identical desires and outcomes when it comes to love and partnerships. Everyone aspires to obtain the same goals with someone they care about, those being happiness, successfulness and living to a ripe old age. Still, some heterosexual people visualize gay people (particularly men) as only being interested in sex and are incapable of commitment. I happen to know several male couples have been together in excess of 40 years or more. These couples own homes together, work, pay taxes and contribute to the good of the country . Should gay couples be allowed to marry? I say yes.
