The author also states “The latest dark reminder came Monday when a 16-year-old high school player from Brocton,N.Y., died after a helmet-to-helmet hit in a game friday night.(Fujita 3). Parents say no to football many times, however, they should really think twice about the strong decision they are making when they say that. Why would you not let your kid play a sport they love? I think that kids shouldn't play football because it is too dangerous. People get concussions every day when they play football. After repeatedly bashing their skulls football players get concussions, caused by the spongy tissue in the brain hitting the hard skull. It is very painful to get a concussion, and leaves permanent damage to the brain. As well as being excruciatingly painful, and possibly never being the same, with many issues. "In milder cases, athletes can be left with lifelong pain, memory lapses, aggression, depression, personality changes, and many other issues."(Shotz[11]). “Will I let my son play football?”. Is a question that comes to mind to parents who have kids interested in sports. But these are the questions they should also ask themselves. “Is a football career really worth all the repercussions?” and “Is a life worth a tackle?”. Many kids dream of having a professional football career and strive to be the best in the sport. With hard work and dedication these dreams can become clearer, but that does not mean they are promised. The only thing that a professional football career promises is that injuries will occur while playing, no matter what age or size. That being said, I would not give my son permission to play football because it causes concussions and bodily injuries, it also promotes violence and causes permanent brain damage and death.
Should Children Be Able to Play Tackle Football? In my opinion, children should not be able to play tackle football. Over time many people have developed many injuries, diseases, and this all contributes to death… Children under the age of 12 are still developing their life, growing and forming into a young adult.
“It's not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up,” said legendary football coach Vince Lombardi. The game of football will truly teach those who play it to get back up after they’ve been knocked down, in life and on the field. On Sunday, February 7th, people all over will be attached to their televisions, tuning in for the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl and watching the game that has been around for over 145 years; a game that should be open to all ages, including children. In this situation, there are too many rewards that outweigh the risks to consider stopping youth football. This sport gives so many amazing opportunities for children and keeps them healthy too.
“An estimated 1.6 million to 3.8 million sports-related concussions occur each year in the United States, and many are related to football” (Fedor, Gunstad). The thought of twelve-year old’s dealing pain and hurt to one another in a sport is insane. A poll was taken on if adults would allow their child to play tackle football, and with a huge margin of 92.6% believing that their child should be playing is hard to think about (Fedor, Gunstad). This essay is definitely going to prove a point to many that children playing tackle football should be banned across the nation through statistics, examples, and proven theories.
“Football is an honest game. It’s true to life. It’s a game about sharing. Football is a team game. So is life.” This quote by Joe Namath, shows there are many life lessons in football, but the parents aren’t getting the value of it. They are also not thinking of how it is safe or safer by new helmets, coaches, and certified referees.

In this writing I will show my opinion on whether kids should be able to play contact sports such as football. When I was younger I used to play football and it was very fun. Playing sports gives kids something to do and something to enjoy with their friends. If playing contact sports got taken away from kids it wouldn’t be good because some professional football players have been playing their whole life and some football fanatics might want their kids to play football and develop a passion for it. If kids never develop a passion for it they might not ever and it would be a loss because if they are good enough they could get a great job and make a lot of money some day. I think all kids should be able to play any sport they want no matter
