Marijuana is most often see as a detrimental drug, but to a great deal of people it helps cure diseases and/or relieve the pain from them. It helps relieve stress and anxiety to people who often have anxiety attacks or problems being in a social environment. Making marijuana legal could also help our overall economy if regulated. Most people think smoking cannabis is bad for your health when that is not entirely the case. Any type of smoking is bad for your lungs, but conveniently marijuana come in many different forms including edibles, chewable and even liquid form marijuana. All the trees being cut down for paper could be decrease if we could use hemp to make part of the paper instead. The world would be a much greener place with more trees and also more cannabis plants. Hemp does not need the use of pesticides and other chemicals, so it is more environment friendly than other plants and vegetables. It also uses less water than cotton, so we can use the extra water for other problems else where like the drought in California (Rosenthai, Ed, Steve Kubby, and S. Newhart 2003). Hemp could replace petrochemicals which are synthesized plastic made from oil by using the natural fibers of hemp (Rosenthal, Ed, Steve Kubby, and S. Newhart 2003). According to the Hemp Industry Association, approximately $500 million worth of hemp product is imported every year (IBT Media, 2014). In 1991, we made a gross of $5 million dollars from the hemp industry alone (Rosenthal, Ed, Steve Kubby, and S. Newhart 2003). Outside the United States, hemp is grown in more than 30 countries. In 2011, the top hemp-producing country was China, followed by Chile and the European Union. Hemp production expanded to Canada, with their country’s annual crop reaching a high of 66,700 acres in 2013 (Leaf Sciences, 2014).
