Should Ownership Of A Gun Be Control?

     Gun control is a very controversial issue among society at present. Many feel guns are the cause of a great amount of crime. This has been an especially popular topic recently in lieu of the shooting at Columbine and other high schools across the country. Are these crimes reason to take away our freedom to bear arms? I do not believe so. The average person uses guns mainly as a means of protection. If limitations are placed on guns, they will only stop the average American from obtaining a gun. The real criminals out there will still be able to obtain guns through the black market. Every American should have the right to protect them self.

Gun control is a very controversial topic that has has a huge impact on the United States of America. One side believes that if guns were taken away as a whole, the country would see significantly less gun related crimes and death, while the other opposing side thinks that taking away guns is not only against the Second Amendment but would lead to an increase in crime and death because the government would take guns away from people who are legally registered to own and conceal guns. The ongoing debate will continue until the foreseeable future but their are plenty of reasons why more gun laws should be made. Taking away guns is not the answer, learning how to deal with gun violence is the key.

The term ‘gun control’ is used to show the regulation of selling, owning and use of guns. This means there is going to be a lot of controversy regarding this, making it a very touchy topic for a lot of people in the world right now. Gun control laws vary greatly, for example in places like the United Kingdom, where the gun laws are so strict that even police officers aren’t allowed to use them. Only special task forces within the police departments are. Compared to places like the United States, where there isn’t a federal gun control law in place anymore. Opponents argue that it is unconstitutional to take away kind of gun from an American citizen. They also argue that it is not the guns that commit these horrible crimes, but instead it’s the people behind the guns that commit them. But a gun is a tool that can be used for good intentions or evil intentions. And in most cases, the bad ones have a heavier effect or outcome. The US should enforce strict national gun control laws that will in the end help save the lives of men, women and children because if they do not, they will be seeing more tragedies through the country just like the one that had happened at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Gun control is a very big issue in the United States today. Many people don't agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns away from law-abiding citizens. Many people have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns are not very likely to be attacked by criminals. Allowing the government to have power over gun control is a careless mistake, we use guns for many things including the loss of tradition of hunting, not being able to protect ourselves, and simply because of the second amendment. When I grew up and throughout my life I didn’t need to worry about this issue. Only in the last 15 years or so has the issue of gun control come about in this country. The 2nd Amendment protects our right to bear arms, “A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms”.(Volkomer, 2012. Pg. 54). Gun control is a hot topic in America today. There is a difference between gun control and self protection. Self protection is one of the main reason people buy guns. But it can sometimes hurt the people around you. There has been a sizeable debate on gun control and whether or not important political figures or public safety should address the issue. Public safety and political figures should address this issue because the two leading causes of death are from gun wounds and car accidents. There should be tougher gun restrictions in the United States because guns are bought with the intent on killing another human being, which can be justified in self defense. My opinion on gun control is that it is not going to work and why do something that will obviously be ineffective. I would definitely say that I don’t lean more towards controlling gun ownership or towards protecting the rights of Americans to own guns because my opinion is that neither will work. People are going to have guns whether they are told they can or not. There are many people who are capable of obtaining guns without having to go through any kind of legal process. There are crimes being committed by criminals who don’t obey the law and those criminals using guns to commit their crimes are not going to follow any kind gun control law just like they don’t follow any other law.
