Prostitution has been around for a very long time. There has been great debates over the last few decades about prostitution law reform. It is accepted by some, denied by others, or just forbidden. Prostitution is that one thing that people do and does not get brought up for discussion after the fact. It is what some people call dirty and distasteful. But prostitution whether legalized or not will continue to happen. I will argue that prostitution should be legalized because it would bring more benefit than negative consequences in terms of rights, safety, health and well-being.
The paper has the following structure. In section, I will explain what critics have to say about legalization of prostitution. In section 2, I will argue for legalization and how it comes at a far less risk than keeping the law the way it is. In section, I will talk about possible objections my view and give a response.
I will begin by saying, in New Zealand, prostitution has be decriminalized since 2003. It is legal for any citizen over the age of 18 to sell sexual favors. Also legal is the ability to run a brothel. Sex workers right are guaranteed through employment and human rights legislation. The prostitution Law review Committee found that over 90 percent of sex workers believed that the New Zealand Prostitution Reform Act (PRA) gave them employment, and legal and helth and safety rights.
