Should School Uniforms Be Paid?

How much do school uniforms cost ? School uniforms pants and skirts can cost any where from 8 to 25 dollars,and shirts any where from 7 to 20 dollars ( How Much). The cost is relatively low compared to all the clothing children have and all the different brands would cost more. Then there's the quantity most children and teens have more clothes that they wear just money down the drain. So it's just more economical to have school uniforms.

In Springfield, Illinois a 6th grader was bullied by her classmates because her mom bought her too fancy of clothes. She was told that she should dress more like a kid by wearing apple bottom jeans and Nikes. One of the difficult aspects of high school besides the hard course load is fitting in. Uniforms are beneficial and should be required at more schools because they prevent kids from getting bullied, they are proven to help kids grades, and they help keep kids safe.

Do you like being dressed by someone else? I don’t think that a uniform is harder than a simple dress code. In my school pretty much everyone follows the dress code and I do not think it is that hard to follow. A uniform might not be fair to the people who actually follow the dress code. I don’t think it is fair to the parents who have to waste their hard earned money. I think the school should have to pay for the clothes because they are the ones who made the uniform. A lot student and parents might rebel against the uniform and it is going to be way harder than just a simple dress code. I think the school should just make the kids who don’t follow the dress code so that the other kid’s don’t get in trouble for the other kids’ choices.

First off i'm going to start off by saying I understand that their are a lot of people that agree there should be uniforms at schools.In Long Beach,Ca,1999 after district introduced uniforms to their schools it was found that,”that battery and assault was decreased by 34% and deadly weapon was decreased by 50%...”(Procon.org).Also,a bulletin published by the National Association of secondary school principals stated,”When all students are wearing the same outfit...they can concentrate on their school work” (procon.org).Lastly,Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, when she was a 2008 US presidential candidate,said,"Take that off the table and put the focus on school, not on what you're wearing" (procon.org).Chris Hammons, Principal of Woodland Middle School,stated that uniforms "provide for less distraction, less drama, and more of a focus on learning" (procon.org).

Secondly, some parents may feel that spending so much money for uniforms is not worth it if they can only wear it at school. As soon as they get home they have to run to their rooms and change so they do not ruin the uniforms. If they were to go out to play as soon as they arrived from school. Sometimes they ignore us when we tell them to change. Let’s imagen they did not change as soon as they arrived. They went outside and rode their bikes they fell out in the street. Now, they come running to you and say, “I feel outside and ripped pants for school” now what happens? Now, you have to replace the ripped pants. This is more money than what you planned. If they were to wear regular clothes there would be no need to run to the store and replace

Uniforms are too expensive right?Here are some reasons why I think uniforms are too expensive...For one kids grow out of uniforms and they cost around $125.00 dollars an outfit I found this on (procon site).And what if your kid slips on the sidewalk and tears them open.That is a lot of money gone you will have to buy a new uniform.Also it's bad for people in poverty.

School uniforms can help many low income families save money. An average school uniform can cost $50 to $150. This is a very cheap price considering it supplies you with all the school clothes you need, for a whole year. School uniforms help save a lot of money because one school outfit could be $100 to $300. Shirts average $23, pants average $40 but, could be up to $200, and shoes average $50 to $120.

The average school uniform cost 250 dollars!!!!!! School uniforms started in 1994 when long beach california adopted the idea. Long Beach was the first school to make school uniforms for elementary and middle school students mandatory. Now 19% of all schools have uniforms and 57% have a strict dress codes. School uniforms should not be required because it takes self expression away from kids, school uniforms are expensive and uniforms undermine the promise of a free education by imposing an extra expense on families.

In America, there are about 49 million students enrolled into public schools of kindergarten through twelfth grade. Plus, six million students attend private schools. In that 55 million of students that attend school 47% to 57% wear school uniforms. Schools believe that it helps with discipline and attendance. But they don’t realize the negative effects to students wearing the uniforms. Schools shouldn’t enforce kids to wear the uniforms.

students typically wear name brand clothes or wear whatever is casual to them. They have freedom to what they wear and how they look towards other people and how they judge them. At school students make sure they look good so they don’t have to suffer through other kids coming up to them and picking on them. In school, they can focus more on what everyone is wearing rather than what school notes they should be writing down. A student has way too much freedom in the way they dress and act. Most kids They have no idea of how they must dress later when they obtain a job. school uniforms should be required because they can reduce the amount of bullying, can promote professionalism also improve work ethics, and students can focus more on school.

Mandating school uniforms has been a highly debated issue for a long time. While some argue about the expenses and the freedom of expression, there are so many ideals that they have no idea about. School uniforms should be mandated because they allow kids to feel like they belong and also they allow the students to have more focused attention while they are learning. School uniforms would be a beneficial factor to the education environment and could assist in the lessening of bullying.

Many schools have decided that having school uniforms is the best for their students. Other schools don’t want to limit the student’s freedom of speech. Schools can’t decide which is the best - have uniforms or not. School uniforms should be mandatory for all students considering the cost, right to freedom and academic success.

Did you know that only 16.4% of American public high schools require students to wear uniforms, and that 54% of schools only require a strict dress code? That’s crazy considering how many schools there are nationwide. Many schools have many different opinions on whether or not uniforms should be worn. There are tons of pros and cons that this topic could be debated over. Some schools think that it makes kids smarter and it helps them to succeed in their futures. Some schools think opposite, that uniforms lower children's self esteem and it doesn't let them express themselves enough. Schools should meet in the middle and create a semi-strict dress code that still shows modesty while it lets kids express themselves. Uniforms should not be required for children because of the fact that they dull creativity, the fact that there are no proven statistics that have a counterargument, and the fact that how school children who wore uniforms have counterarguments. Although there are people who believe uniforms should be mandated for the bettering of our children's education,  there are statistics to help prove otherwise.

As my dad told me when I was little, “Schools should be schools, not fashion shows.” The debate as to whether there should be uniforms at school only began in the 20th century. In 1994, Long Beach California School District integrated school uniforms for all elementary and middle school students, in order to address safety issues challenging the district. According to the school district data, within one year of the implementation of uniforms, crime rates dropped by 91%, school suspensions dropped by 90%, sex offences dropped by 96 %, and vandalism dropped by 69%. (School Uniform Statistics). School uniforms may deny a student’s right to freely express themselves, however they have been proven to be beneficial. School uniforms are beneficial because they provide a safer, more successful and unified environment.

When going out to buy pieces to a uniform it can get pretty pricey. Shirts plus pants plus shoes add up quickly, so I was not surprised to find that the average cost of school uniforms for parents is $249 (Runge). When you compound all the people that have to buy school uniforms, it totals to $1 billion annually (Anderson). You can buy the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Cubs for that much money.
