Looking for money to buy those new boots that you want? Simply,do well on your school work. Do you think that students should get paid for their good grades? Personally I don't think they should. It takes away their self motivation and teaches them that they should get a reward for everything they do.
First off, school requires a mental effort which by definition is considered to be work. Since we go to school for 8 hours every day and do that about 180 days per year, we should get paid if we keep our grades up because it’s hard to do. Keeping good grades requires lots of hard work and effort. It also requires time, which some of us
If kids do get paid they will like to learn more, they think going to school is a waste of time but when they do get paid they won´t think that anymore. kids don’t like school is because they think they don’t get anything out of it so if we do pay them they will work harder. In my opinion i
The general argument made by the author Arianna Prothero in her work ‘Does Paying Kids to Do Well in School Actually Work’ is that paying students for grades only works for students who are already doing well within their classes. Throughout the article, the author was appearing to be neutral about the topic. Prothero uses the statement “the effects are small if even there at all” to emphasize the point about the incentive only working for students who are almost there. These pupils are the students who only need to put in a small amount of work and effort to achieve this reward.
If students are rewarded for quality schoolwork, grades may initially improve. They may show more excitement. However, in the article “Why You Shouldn’t Pay Children for Grades” by Amy Mccready, it is found that the enhanced grades deteriorate along with the excitement for the payment. Most children simply lose interest in the reward. It is better to just let youth accomplish
Would students be able to improve their grades if they were getting paid? Money is a great reward for most students and it could possibly have a long term effect on students. They are always wanting their grades to be improved and then they would have more of a reason to study for test and quizzes if they were getting paid do go to school. Students would be focused at school if their was money to be made by going to school. Teachers would also not be stopping as often because of students getting of track. I believe students would improve their grades if they were getting paid because, Money could have a long term effect, and more student could need a little more motivation
Fist of all, should student get paid by good grades because rise in graduation. John Hopkins university ‘’higher graduation’’ If the students feel valued they will be motivated if they are learning more things will go up and more student for better grades will mean more student will go to school.
To begin with, students should not be paid for exceptional grades, as a result it robs their feeling of accomplishment. According to “Parents paying their children money for excellent grades is a horrible idea”, by Gisler and Eberts, “ Many parents don’t realize that giving money to children for grades robs their feeling of accomplishment.” This means, giving children money they only do their work if they’re getting paid, and they don’t learn as much. The effect of this is that they don’t get that feeling of them doing their work all by themselves with nothing supporting
Teachers stop what they’re doing to discipline the students who won’t be quiet. And lastly teachers won’t let students who are good go to the bathroom because of the other students. At good schools students turn in their homework on time. Teacher’s give good compliments to the principle about how well the students behave. And lastly the kids get the help they need. For bad schools to achieve this, there is a program that schools are starting. The program is called “Cash for Good Grades”. This program is for students who get good grades, they get paid for it. If the student gets an A they get paid five dollars. Schools think that this program will solve the problem, but it won’t. Bad schools think money changes people’s behaviors, it won’t it will make people have worse behaviors. The money will increase pressure and stress. One reason why is because the students could forget to do their homework or study for tests and don’t get paid. Also, it will make kids think too hard on their class work or homework. Some students could get stressed from so much homework that they forget or don’t want to do their homework. Students stress about their school work because they want to get paid for the “good job” they did. In the article “Why You Shouldn’t Pay Children for Grades” the author McCreedy says, “Rewards also foster a ‘What’s in it for me’ attitude. If the reward is money for good grades, it sends the message that the reason to work hard in school is to enrich your wallet rather than your mind. Children who are rewarded for good grades start to feel entitled to a payout, which robs them of the ability to cultivate a love of learning and a sense of responsibility for their own education. However, those on the opposite side say that the system will make rates go higher. While this may be true the system still adds that unwanted pressure and stress on the students. With this program, schools will find out that a lot of
This article analyzes on how being paid for good grades isn’t so great. Reason being the author states because they think certificates were better , only because you can get a certificate for showing that you were always in school. You can't really do that with money , certificates were more cost effective. The author also stated that
Realistically the argument made by Ariana Prothero is that paying students might be a good thing, but stylistically it doesn't work in every case. Taking research from an outside source, about an incentive program in college where a man named Roland Fryer put six million dollars into eighteen thousand low income students to try to improve test performance. In the end, the takeaway is that students feel more entitled to have a reward of an output more so than input. Therefore meaning some students, test scores aren't going to improve, because they don't know how to improve them. So students would rather get money after they know what grade they have other than, having a requirement to meet. It's probably way too much pressure for them to have on themselves.
I am a kid myself. I exert myself not for good grades, but for a good future, and that is what is imperative here. The want for money, praise and prevalence will win out over our desire for money every time. Who is providing us with this money? Our parents? They already pay for our education. Students need to learn that they will need a fuel other than their parents' wealth as they become more and more independent. Grades don't always reflect competence, either. A child who is inherently bright needs to learn there is always room for improvement, whatever his or her report card says.
What would happen if students are paid? If schools truly want students to learn they shouldn’t pay students for good grades. Paying students for their grades can lead to lower academic performances. In addition, the students who are getting payed will dampen their natural enthusiasm for learning. It also gives kids unneeded pressure extra pressure. Paying students for good grade is a bad idea because they will have lower academic performances, their enthusiasm will dampen and students will have unneeded extra pressure.
First of all, students should get paid for good grade because the would be a rise in graduation rates. John Hopkins University “ There are also a signified dropout rate when kids aren't getting paid. This leads to students feeling valued for the hard work they do in
Should students be paid for receiving good grades? Yes students should get paid for having good grades. Many students don’t really care about their grades because they don’t get a reward. Many teens don’t do nothing to fix their grades they only fix it when they are on a sport. If parents would reward them for having good grades students would have A and B. Students should get paid because it teaches to be responsible with money, it can also motivate them, and it can help them in the future.
