Should Teen Curfews Be Enforced?

“You must be back before midnight when your coach will turn back into a pumpkin and your horses will once again be mice,” Said Fairy Godmother to Cinderella. Even Cinderella had a curfew. But the Fairy Godmother only wanted what was best for Cinderella, and she didn’t argue it. Giving teens an unreasonable curfew may make them think they need to sneak out of the house. But without a curfew, there is no guarantee that the teen will come home that night. So you`re left with the question, Should teen curfews be enforced?
Once you think about it, if youngsters are getting into trouble, it makes the most sense to get them off the street so they will stop causing trouble, right? With getting the teen off the street, hopefully the crime right might go down, one can only hope. Detroit adopted a youth curfew in 1976. Juvenile crime dropped six percent during the curfew hours, but it increased thirteen percent in the mid-afternoon (Zimmerman). So if the crime rate technically increases, why is there such a worry for having teen curfews? But on the parent’s side, a curfew can make them feel better knowing they have a little bit more control and that their child is at home safe. If teens have an unreasonable curfew, they could believe that their parents do not trust them and they may even try to sneak out of the house (Murphy). Which will put the parents in fear if they wake up to find their teen is no longer home. The parents could stay up all night until the teen returns home. But
