Every student deserves the most effective teaching materials in the classroom. Textbooks are not supplying what students need to achieve success throughout his/her education; therefore, tablets/computers should be used over textbooks. There are multiple advantages and disadvantages to taking textbooks out of classrooms throughout the United States.
One of the biggest advantages in the use of tablets/computers over textbooks is the ability to record and monitor cheating in a more formal way. For example, a large variety of schools through the United States use programs such as GoGuardian to monitor students while on tablets/computers. These programs may influence students to have stronger morals such as, gaining self-discipline, trust within themselves, and responsibility. Students who have not properly been through the processes of operant conditioning as a child, will use technology in a harmful way, to cheat. While textbooks limit the answers supplied, a large variety of books still have direct answers in the back of the text that students discover and use. When using textbooks, teachers have no proof of cheating when he/she has the suspicion of it taking place. Students can easily text, call, or email each other answers to questions that are on test, homework, or study guides. Tablets/computers allow this worry to disappear, GoGuardian and other programs like it are for teachers to recognize students are on pages that are not instructed to be on. Administrations have…
