As shown above, refugees have very good reason for fleeing, but that doesn’t fully answer the question of why countries such as the United States of America should help them. There are many moral reasons why first world countries such as the United States of America who can handle accepting and supporting these refugees should do so. The first and most important reason why is imply that by doing so, the United States of America would be saving the refugees lives. In Syria there is a high chance that they will die, and it is also likely that they will die on the grueling trip away from Syria. Being accepted into first world countries like the United States of America is likely one of the only things that can save them. Some will argue that this …show more content…
While this sentiment has changed in western European countries such as Germany, there are still many countries such as Hungary are still insensitive towards their plight and unaware of the parallels one could draw between the refugees and those who fled Nazi Germany and East Germany. Even when countries are willing to accept refugees, many say that they desire non- Muslim refugees, allowing their fear to sway their policy. Even when countries accept migrants, the systems currently in place allow the refugees to be exploited as unpaid laborers. The currents processes and attitudes towards refugees need to change. This article, using these parallels shows how necessary it is that refugees get help and sanctuary, and how even if a country accepts refugees, the country needs protection for these people as well. Despite the opposing arguments, it is clear that countries such as the United States of America have a moral duty to save the refugees lives as they flee from persecution and
Jonathan Safran Foer’s “Eating Animals” was extraordinary. As a former meat buyer for a large food distributor, I had visited kill floors several times, and I had made some assumptions about the book before I read it. But the meat business has changed radically since I was a buyer and I found the first-hand accounts of extreme animal abuse Safran Foer employed in the book not only to be controversial but also repulsive. It was very difficult to read about some of the regularly used techniques that factory farms use in the name of efficiency.
In the final draft I will expand on each of the issues, by looking into more specific examples of both what different European countries are doing policy wise, as well as what the sentiment is among the refugees in the different areas of Europe. To fully be able to understand the conditions the refugees are facing I will be using other scholars ethnography work; One of those works being Katerina Rozakou’s piece regarding the management of refugees in Greece. As a result of that knowledge I will be able to come to an accurate conclusion as to what course of action should be taken in Europe as a whole, to deal with this ongoing
“We live on a blue planet that circles around a ball of fire next to the moon that moves the sea, and you don't believe in miracles?” Refugees believe in miracles to give them a better life. They know that good thing can happen to them so they believe in miracles to do just that. A refugee is a person who has been displaced from their home, many from war or a natural disaster. Most refugees seek shelter from camps, but not all. The main problem that a refugee has is they have no place to go, many countries take in refugees but most do not get to have that chance. The United states of America takes in refugees but still, it is not enough. In 2017 we should aim to take in at least one or two more thousand refugees than we have in the past years. If the United States of America were to take in more refugees we would be in a win-win situation. While others may say taking in refugees is too risky, The United States should take in more refugees because not only would the refugees be benefitting from this situation we would be too.
Many U.S. citizens have no problem with Syrian refugees coming to America. According to both “Why America Could-and Should-Admit More Syrian Refugees.” and “Our Responsibility to Refugees”, The authors feel that The people of the United States are turning their backs on the refugees. In “Why America Could-and Should-Admit More Syrian Refugees.” the author says, “The United States has resettled over three million refugees, offering victims of persecution and conflict the opportunity to build a new life. Refugee resettlement is unequivocally safe. It would be wrong, both morally and politically, to curtail Syrian refugee resettlement, and why it is in fact both ethically imperative and politically expedient to instead expand U.S. commitment to refugee resettlement” (Long). This author sees nothing to fear from refugees. Furthermore, the writer of “Our Responsibility to Refugees” states, “The U.S. can do more and we must. Since 2011, more than 4.2 million Syrians have been displaced by war and violence, and fewer than 3,000 of them have resettled in the U.S. President Barack Obama has committed to resettling 10,000 Syrian refugees in the U.S. His administration needs to
Why should the United States not accept Syrian refugees? Not every Syrian is a terrorist, most of them really need help. Because of the civil war in Syria, a major genocide is happening. People are leaving their homes for a better life where they can be safe and economically stable. I think that the United States should accept Syrian refugees in because they have been dealing with inequality, they also have a good work ethic that at a lot of Americans do not have which can benefit the country, and the United States is a country where a lot of people migrate so why not let the Syrian refugees in since they need to.
In recent decades, many people have sought refugee status and this has caused a lot of discussion on the issue. Many argue that refugees should not be given priority in gaining entry to democratic countries, while others believe they should. The purpose of this essay is to point out that democratic countries should have an obligation to accept refugees. To support this position, the following areas will be examined: firstly, the reason why those countries are called democratic countries. Secondly, refugees are under the difficult situation. Thirdly, countries can take advantage of accepting refugees.
The United States should accept refugees who have background checks. It is a humanitarian duty for people, and the United States, to help other people that are in danger. Background checks would let the U.S know if the refugees are dangerous or not, so as long as they aren’t in any harm, the U.S should let them in. Also, there are some Americans that are doing their best and helping out refugees that are actually coming in, and that shows American values.
This essay focuses on the way Hawthorne’s “Rappaccini’s Daughter” articulates the tension between the spirit and the empirical world. Hawthorne challenges the empirical world Rappaccini, both malevolent for his experimentation with human nature and sympathetic for his love for his daughter, represents, by raising an aesthetic question Rappaccini implicitly asks. Hawthorne never conclusively answers this question in his quest to preserve spiritual beauty in an empirical world, offering the most disturbing possibility of all: could art and the artist prove as fatal to the human spirit as empiricism?
I believe that the U.S should start admitting more refugees, mostly children that are being really affected by all the violence and Medical / Mental assistance .
The first reason the Syrian refugees should be allowed to enter the United States is that America is a multi-cultural country, whose structure are freedom, and equality. The
Before beginning the actual negotiation process you and your spouse should decide when and where to negotiate. You should also make a list of the issues to be negotiated and what information and documents you will both need to bring to the negotiations. Meyer, (n.d)
Refugees have suffered so many times, they have gone through harsh obstacles just to reach their host country. They deserve a chance to live in a safer environment while their homeland gets fixed/better. While the refugee’s are trying to get to their host country many are hurt. The refugee’s should have a chance to feel safe. Many aren’t treated fairly in their home place, so therefore they seek for help from other countries.
Regardless of what the United States government ultimately decides to do, it is important to stay open minded in drastic times like these. By attempting to remove the stereotype refugees have to carry around with them, assessing which countries we want to be associated with, and working to help those in need while keeping the security of American citizens in-tact-- America will be playing a very beneficial role in helping refugees acquire
A couple months ago, 2017 arrived and brought controversial topics and arguments. Some of these political disagreements are about the 2016 election and the current president of the United States, Donald Trump. President Trump has already made executive orders in his time in office. One executive order was to tighten the vetting of immigrants and visitors and ban the refugees who want to settle in the United States. This order ignited protests and riots among some groups of people who were and are still upset and want to help others who are escaping their country and coming to the U.S. to seek safety. The United States should allow refugees into its county. Allowing refugees into the United States has worked before; it is difficult to come into the U.S. as a refugee, and it is humane to help others.
A refugee is a person who was forced to leave their country. Whether it be from warfare or natural disaster, their homes are no longer safe to live in, so they need to relocate elsewhere. Once someone sets foot on the journey of becoming a refugee, they become vulnerable and dependent with no sense of what the future will bring. In an attempt to accommodate them, first world countries with the resources necessary to assist these refugees, are struggling to determine whether or not they should step-in and help. Some argue that taking them in could come with excessive consequences, while others believe they could be assets. Although there may be a few consequences, they are outweighed by the benefits and undeniable severity of the situation.
