Should we re-elect Obama Should we re-elect Obama This paper is about pros and cons of re-selection of Obama as the President of USA. The paper will highlight his present performance in first ruling duration and give an insight into the choice of his re-selection. The paper presents both pros and cons of his reselection as the President of USA. If we consider the political image of USA before Obama took over Presidency, it is broad daylight that many nations of the world were afraid of American intervention in their national affairs. Particularly speaking, the rule of George W. Bush was a tough time for USA as the foreign relations of USA with many other countries were on stake. Initially, there was a case of illegal spying flight to China, which was highly disliked by Chinese officials and they required Bush to seek apology. Furthermore, the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan added fuel to fire. Obama took serious initiatives to better the image of USA on global platform. He respected the sovereignty of nations and tried to withdraw from their national and domestic matters. It is expected that his reselection as President will further add value to the image of USA. One of the positive aspects of Obama presidency has been the improvement in the odds of the minorities residing in USA. Addressing the odds of any nation is a challenging task as usually it has been observed that the odds are ignored or seriously neglected from many facilities and opportunities available in
For many years, American Presidents were viewed as being white and powerful leaders. Why were they only white? Is it because Americans felt Blacks were not smart enough to run a country on their own? African Americans were viewed as less dominate people and have been discriminated because of the color of their skin. In 2008, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States making him the first black president ever. In this paper, I will discuss how Barack makes a change and if America can accept him as our first black president.
Barack Obama has impacted America in many ways since he was elected the 44th president on November 4th, 2008. The first African American president of the United States has taken the world by storm and done many great things for this country. Barack Obama has accomplished many things in his personal life, and also as the president of the United States. Obama has affected the world financially, economically, and rebuilt our image as a nation.
World War I left a sour taste in the mouths of Americans; many felt that the United States had joined for the wrong reasons, and this disillusionment led to a return to isolationism. Americans looked to avoid entanglements in European affairs that could potentially pull them into another world war. Combined with the effects of the Great Depression and the economic troubles that spanned the globe, Americans were determined to avoid foreign affairs and remain neutral when conflict began. However, as dictatorships began to rise globally, the United States found it increasingly difficult to remain neutral and isolationist. Though the United States attempted to remain neutral in world affairs following World War I, the threat to democracy and rise
The United States has been a super power for decades, and since America has always involved themselves in other countries' problems. Instead of isolationism, the country has practiced getting involved. Since the Monroe Presidency, America has been named the World's police force. Dispelling anarchists, and stopping coos, the united states portrays itself as the world protector. Since Monroe, some Americans have felt that isolation is the way to go, and most feel that it is our right to offer assistance. Two recent incidents, Operation Desert Storm and The War in Bosnia have allowed the United States to show off it's strength, both on the military and political level. It has also given the chance for America to evaluate it's foreign policy,
On the other hand, however, others argue that obama wasn't a great president because he failed to keep many promises that he said during his election and he did not improve race relations in america.Clearly there are many views and opinions on Obama and whether he has been a good president to serve america for all these years. I believe he was a good president _because he did so much for america and accomplished so much but he doesn't get the credit he deserves. This issue is important because not many people realize all of the stuff obama has done during his presidency to benefit america despite congress denying every one of his decisions.Look at the various achievements obama has made over the course of his presidency. Does that warrant him as a great president? For the future, people should educated themselves on Obama's legacy and acknowledge how much he accomplished during his presidency. By doing research instead of going based off of your own knowledge, more people would realize just how great of a president Obama really
Between the Cold War and the War on Terror The United States have had a large involvement with ideology that was dangerous or threatening towards not only The United States but to towards the World.
The period of the mid 30’s and 40’s during the Roosevelt presidency presented an evolution for minorities, the foundation for the civil rights movement was set during this era. The urgent necessities for Latinos, Blacks, and Native Americans came into focus for a government that was largely ignoring them previously. With the downfall of the economy, minorities were economically hit the worst. Many programs put in during Roosevelt’s administration never provided the same success for minorities that their white counterparts achieved. Still, FDR’s administration laid out multiple plans for minorities to achieve future success and equality. As new incentives with housing, industry, and civil rights tries to improve the lives’ of Latinos, Blacks, and Native Americans.
The government holds a crucial status to its citizens, executive branch specifically, is overlooked to symbolize leadership. Nowadays, the president’s office is believed to exemplify the values of the American people. There are certain powers allocated to the president by the United States Constitution, however; the responsibility and vacancy of the President tend to evolve from one president to the next. Characteristics of presidents and their effect on political decisions has beneficial aspects
Over the course of the history of the United States of America, there have been numerous threats from various international countries. And with these numerous threats come different responses from the United States. Such as the French and the British during the 1790s, the U.S. government created the Alien and Sedition Acts The U.S. also had conflict with the British over the territory of Oregon, which ended in the creation Oregon Treaty. Later during World War 1, the U.S. , under President Woodrow Wilson, declared neutrality at the beginning of the war but were very straightforward that is the Germans continued the engaging in unrestricted submarine warfare against American ships supplying goods to Allied nations would result in an American Declaration of War. Over time the U.S. has become more upfront and stern with their reactions to threats from international nations. And it expanded to post 1945, when there was an impeding spread of Communism in the United States. And the way the the U.S. responded was similar to the their past course of response.
The President of the United States is under continual scrutiny, and for good reason. Often times Presidents are unable to garner a high approval rating from the public because either they are not able to influence government enough, or in some cases exert too much power over the government. Very few Presidents have been considered successful in modern times and often when Presidents first enter office they are shocked at the difficulty which influencing government entails. There are many possible changes that could be made in order to increase effectiveness. These changes concern the election progress, the transactional relationship between the President and Congress, the term structure and the nomination process. These changes are especially
Many would agree that it is far too soon to determine President Obama’s place in history. As Nate Silvers mentioned, “second-term presidents may be ridiculed as lame ducks, but it is often doing the second term reputations are won or lost.” The reasoning behind that may be because most presidents suffer from a deadly infection known as the second-term curse. The second-term curse is the tendency of second-terms presidents of the United States to be less successful than their first terms; as a result of some scandal, some sort of calamity, or additional difficulties. According to Nate Silvers, President Obama is doing well so far. First, President Obama won a second-term, something only about half of the men to serve as presidents have done
American foreign policy has gone through many changes during our 200 years as an independent nation; our position as a global power has obligated us to participate in world affairs, even when public opinion has been unsupportive. After World War 2 we were only rivaled by the Soviet Union as a superpower; our policy at the time was to establish a righteous world order while simultaneously protecting that order against threats that could tear it down (i.e.: communism). After the end of the cold war the U.S was indecisive on what type of foreign policy to establish for itself, since American diplomacy before the end of the Cold War was centered on fighting the spread of communism. The answer to this question came within the academic article I
In their book American Foreign Policy since World War 2, Steven W. Hook, and John Spanier take a historical look at American foreign policy. Since its independence, all through to the start of the 20th century, the United States had a policy of detachment. This was rooted in the believe that Europe, the only other meaningful powerful in the world in the 18th and 19th century, had intrinsic issues related to feudism that kept the continent in a constant state of war (Hook & Spanier, 2015). The U.S on its part was far away from Europe and had a unique chance to chart a different course, one free from the troubles of Europe. As a democracy free from the class systems of Europe and hence maintain peace and stability (Hook & Spanier, 2015). To maintain this peace and stability, it was in the United States interests to maintain detachment from Europe. In fact, Monroe wrote that Europe and its flawed system was evil and America should strive as much as possible to stay away from it (Hook & Spanier, 2015). However, in the 20th century, this policy of detachment was put to the test when the United States was drawn into the first and second world wars by external factors. This led the United States to get more engaged in global affairs. The idea behind engagement was to promote the ideals of democracy which, the U.S believed were the pillars of peace, as well as to protect itself from aggressors like Japan in the Second World War. After the
President Obama, in my opinion, is not a good presidential candidate. He handles important matters wrong or he comes up with the simplest answer. As the article says he “speaks in the hoariest of cliches.” He uses the oldest excuses or gives the same speeches. He does not think for himself. His teleprompter gives him everything he needs to say. It gives the people what they need to hear and it never tells the whole story, much like the news. For him to be a good president, I feel he would have to be able to speak for himself. He needs to be able to handle difficult situations. If he can not take responsibility for mistakes, especially on his part, he should not be in any type of business, let alone president of The United States of America.
Racial and ethnic minorities accounted for 90 percent of the population growth in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the United States is rapidly becoming even more diverse. The rapid increase in the minority population has led to some backlash and challenges for law
