Should Women Be Allowed to have an Abortion?
There are 251 babies born worldwide per minute. There are 10,829 babies born in the United States per day. Now take a minute to realize 125,000 of those babies will never get the chance at life because a mother decided to terminate her pregnancy. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. The procedure used is referred to as suction curettage or vacuum aspiration. “I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” Said our former president Ronald Reagan because like him and many others believe women should not have an abortion for many reasons. First of all their are multiple health complications tied into it for example their is no guarantee that after having an abortion the woman will be able to have a baby again. Abortion can also be the cause of depression because the thought of killing an innocent child is still murder and can be stuck on a woman's conscience forever. Although some people may argue that in some circumstances for example if the woman was raped she should be allowed to get an abortion due to the traumatic event.

In some circumstances such as if the women couldn't afford the baby because she was homeless, or if she was raped and didn't choose to have a baby. But even in these circumstances murder is murder and you will have that on your conscience forever which could lead to long term depression and eventually death. Although it may be hard in those situations when you never planned on having a kid or just can't care for it and you want to just go the easy way out but there's always the alternative of putting that kid up for adoption or maybe passing the kid onto a relative that may want to care for that
Terminating a pregnancy is never easy for anyone involved. Some abortions are done by selfish choice due to social pressure but others are due to tragic situations. These situations involve choosing between the mother surviving or the baby surviving.
Have you ever wondered why abortion is such a debated topic. How some politicians use it as a political ploy and others are completely against abortion? Also, if the supreme court says abortion is legal, why have many states added so many restrictions and rules to it. If abortion is legal, why does the government try so hard to make women feel like it isn’t. When did it become ok for the government tell women what and what not to do with our bodies and made our decisions for us? These new abortion restrictions makes it even harder for women to have an abortions, then it already is.
Whereas Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often preformed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy; Whereas Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of reproductive, “health,” services, receives approximately a half-billion dollars of federal funding (Valencia)(Kurtzleben); Whereas, the murder of innocent babies can fall under the category of first-degree murder; Whereas, Exodus 20:13 clearly states,”thou shalt not kill,”(Exodus 20:13); Whereas, as of May 20015, 44% of Americans identify as Pro-life (Valencia); Whereas, life begins at conception; Whereas the 1980 film titled, “The Silent Scream,” depicts the abortion of an 11 week old fetus appearing to shake and, “cry out,” in pain (Kawas); Whereas,
Webster's New World Dictionary defines the word abortion as, "any spontaneous expulsion of an embryo or a fetus before it is sufficiently developed to survive" (Webster's 1988; Pps. 3- 4). Assuming the reader of this essay agrees with the above definition, I will explore the following thesis, and support my answer with appropriate, adequate documentation, from "Conversations":
The topic covered in this research paper is abortion. This paper looks into the history of abortion, the pro-life view of abortion and the pro-choice view of abortion. Under history of abortion the information included is the time line of significant events of abortion such as becoming legal, also different ways in ancient times women would try to use abortions. The upgrading of technology making abortion safer and even if abortion was illegal women would still find a way to abort a baby are also covered under the history of abortion. Under pro-life choice for abortion looks into abortion murder, the rights of human and the rights of the unborn and that a women doesn't have a right to terminate her own fetus. Under pro- choice
Studies have shown that about millions of females face unplanned pregnancies. Many of the women who get pregnant tend to abort the unborn child. Research has proved that about 4 out of 10 women get abortions because they feel that it’s the safest thing to do for them and their baby. Taking the strength and courage to abort an unborn baby is a decision that only you can make with yourself and your doctor. Many women take aborting a baby to a personal way and they eventually get depressed because other negative people consider them as “bad mothers”.
The issue of abortion has always been a controversial one for citizens of the United States. Abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy after the embryo has been planted in the uterus (Abortion). An individual’s stance on this controversial issue categorizes them into one of two very different groups. An individual who feels that a woman should not have an abortion- due to moral or religious views- is said to be “pro-life”. Coincidently, those who feel that a woman should have the right to choose abortion are said to be “pro-choice”. “Pro-life” supporters point to the practice of abortion as an immoral one. Supporters state abortion is immoral because it takes away the rights of the unborn fetus, since activists consider human
The United States has had a long and tiresome history regarding women's rights and abortion. Women have struggled long and hard to be viewed as equals in comparison to men. Even today women are viewed as the lesser and their voice is often silenced. Abortion was declared unlawful for a span of time until the early 70s, Roe versus Wade case that legalized abortion. Regardless of abortion's legalization, there is still a tremendous amount of conflicting views pertaining to the matter. These issues need to be addressed immediately. We the Green Party strongly believe that equality should be a given right, and that all greens must fight to fulfill that freedom. Women's right to control their body is non-negotiable, and they need to have a say when
Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. The United States Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973: currently, there are about 1.2 million abortions that are being performed each year in the United States (Trupin). Around the world, there are 20 to 3 million legal abortions that are being performed and 10 to 20 million illegal abortions that are performed. Trupin states, “Abortion is one of the most visible, controversial, and legally active areas in the field of medicine.” Back when abortion was illegal there were many deaths that occurred due to illegal abortions. Abortion can emotionally affect each woman differently. Some may be fine afterwards but some may
Before women had rights to decide whether they could keep their baby, some states didn’t allow abortion, therefore requiring women to give birth to their child. In today’s current issues, abortion is still a controversial subject with millions of people supporting it or not supporting it. Every woman has the right to make changes to her own physical body, and those rights should not be taken away, according to the constitution. In the very famous case in 1973, “Roe v. Wade”, the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion throughout the first trimester of pregnancy. In the article, “Roe’s Pro-Life Legacy”, it is explained how after this movement, the right to abortion, lives have changed and led to lower abortion rates (Sheilds 2013.)
In my opinion abortion should be allowed depending on the trimester of the pregnancy and level of safety for the mother. This is neither a religious or legal issue but a personal choice that must be regulated by the laws that govern the body of medical professionals who perform the abortion.
There are countries all over the world where women use abortion as a method of birth control and there are some countries where abortion is illegal and strictly enforced. Women should have the opportunity to make one of the biggest decisions of their lives, and this includes the right to have an abortion. "In the U.S., more than 50 percent of the pregnancies are unintended, and 50 percent of these end in abortion. More than half (53 percent) of the unplanned pregnancies happen among the 10 percent of women who practice no contraception. Most women getting abortions are young: 55 percent are under 25, including 21 percent teenagers."
Coins have two sides, and so do arguments. The argument/controversy in this paper is whether or not psychologists should or should not have prescription privileges. Define what a psychologist is. Define what a psychiatrist is. Psychologist versus psychiatrist. There is more schooling (education requirements) for a psychiatrist. Identify what it means to have prescription privileges.
The common misconception that women have is that because abortion is performed at a hospital, it is a safe procedure, but it is the opposite of safe. The instruments that are used to remove the fetus and to disconnect the umbilical cord from the fetus can perforate the womb of the woman, causing extreme blood loss. Even though it is unlikely, these hemorrhages can end the woman’s life. Also, a womb that has already repeatedly gone through the procedure of abortion poses a greater risk of automatically and naturally aborting future pregnancies. In other words, the woman has a probability of aborting continuously despite various attempts at getting pregnant. Aside from being a health risk, aborting has proved to be the one of the main causes of suicide. Recent studies that were performed in the United States and Denmark found that women who have terminated their pregnancies do suffer from mental issues afterward, and it is more probable for them to want to commit suicide. The reasoning behind this is that the woman who have had this procedure done find it unbearable to carry the weight of their actions once they realize what they have done. The moment their eyes open to the fact that they took their own child’s life before it they even had a chance to see light of day, it becomes too difficult to bear with the guilt and regret.
“No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg.” (Frederica Mathewes-Green)
