The main characters in the Movie Shrek are Donkey, Princess Fiona, and Shrek. Shrek is an ogre who wants to regain his swamp, and travels along with an annoying donkey in order to bring Princess Fiona to a scheming lord, wishing himself King. I feel that each of them have absolutely unique personalities and characteristics because they help unravel the story by being who they are. Shrek goes on a quest to get his swamp back and doesn't expect anything else to happen. Shrek not only gets his swamp ,but he also goes through an unexpected heartbreak, a lost friend, and many other obstacles, before he realizes what real friendship and true love are all about! When he goes on the quest to rescue Fiona, he falls madly in love with her and tries to show her how nice he is and that people mis-understand him because he is an ogre. He tries to show Fiona how much he likes her by bringing her flowers but over hears how she tells Donkey “ an ugly ogre” and Shrek assumed she was talking about him and got discouraged. Donkey, on the other hand, is a very nice, compassionate, but talkative animal. When Donkey met Shrek, he didn’t care that Shrek was an ogre. He wasn’t afraid. “No! I'm an ogre! You know. "Grab your torch and pitchforks." Doesn't that bother you? Nope. Really? Really, really.” Even though Donkey is nice, he can be very annoying. He talks a lot and that bothers Shrek. For example, when Shrek meets Fiona in the castle. “Hi Princess! It talks! Yeah, but it's getting him to shut up that's the trick.” Donkey makes the trip back to Lord Farquaad funny and extraordinary. He is like a parrot that has something to say to everything. Donkey is a very compassionate and bright friend that goes with Shrek on the dangerous quest to rescue Fiona. The last main character is Princess Fiona. She lives in a tower in a castle surrounded by a fire-breathing dragon. So when Shrek came, she was surprised that he was an ogre instead of a prince."'Take off the helmet.' 'No!' 'Now' 'Okay! Easy.
