“Sicko”
The 2007 documentary “Sicko” by Michael Moore address the different issues with American health care system. America’s health care system has been up for debate for quite some time now and still not much has changed. Michael Moore believes America’s health system is morally corrupt which is unreasonable for being the wealthiest country in the world. Throughout the film some of his main arguments include, the fact that the American health care system is subject to fraudulent decisions, aiming towards governmental funds, rather than the rights of American citizens. It is now up to U.S. citizens to determine if they really want a universal healthcare system. They must understand that their tax dollars will pay for others health insurance. When Moore returned to the United States he interviewed many different firefighters, police, and brave volunteers who took time out to help with the 9/11 incident. After interviewing them, Moore discovered that the people, whom the government was pleased with, were not being treated properly. Insurance companies refused to pay for their treatment and left them to their pain. “If this is how America treats their “so called” heroes, then just think of how they would treat their regular citizens?” The United States should have a universal health care system rather than a government regulated one. This is because America’s health care system is corrupted and is not willing to help any of our citizens. Healthcare and poverty go hand in hand. People in poverty can’t afford to have proper health insurance because they’re living paycheck to paycheck and they don’t have the proper knowledge. Therefore, when something is wrong with them insurance companies and hospitals are denying them treatment. The United States is very selfish and so are many of the citizens.
