Siddhartha Gautama was the founder of Buddhism and was called the Buddha meaning the brain to the religion. Buddhism like any other religion has many beliefs and practices which are still observed and carried out currently in a person everyday life. As well as this there are also many sects within the Buddhist religion which have been formed of the years. Many being the reason of invasions and others being of moving to teach a religion further to a neighbouring country. Siddhartha Gautama gained many experiences before gaining Enlightenment. Although Siddhartha was not allowed to go and meet amongst the general public, this was because he was a Prince. The experiences which he gained were, an aged man, a sick man, a corpse and a religious man, these had struck him and realised this was the worldly life and there was no escape from it. 'The first thing the Siddhartha saw was an old person. He had never seen an elderly person before and was shocked. The next thing the Buddha saw was a sick person. As everyone has kept illness from him he was again shocked. The third sight was of a dead man. The prince didn 't know that people died and so this was again a big shock to him. The fourth and final site was of a Hindu holy man. He had no possessions apart from a begging bowl and only wore a rag.
