Full time student
Possibly doing another internship in Virginia or DC
Invited to join Sigma Alpha Lambda by the Chapter Presiden. Also was looking for opportunities to volunteer some of my time to a meaningful organization.
Having interned at the House of Representatives with a Congressman in DC last summer taught me ways to contribute to issues that I am most passionate about and most importantly ways to better my community. To be able to join SAL, definitely serves as one of my biggest unexpected honor. Education was always a privilege in my life and I want more people to have the chance and access to it. The only way to give back would be participating in a leadership position. Additionally, having some federal experience and working
Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta was the catalyst for a new chapter of my life. It completely changed the shape of my undergraduate career and I could not be more grateful. Upon entering ALD in my second semester as a Freshman I was given my first chance at a leadership role. This would be first time that I was offered a role in which I would have the chance to lead others, to serve on an executive board, and to coordinate chapter events. When ALD offered it to me, I grabbed the chance. I had always been involved while in high school and for the past semester I had entered student organizations where my voice was not heard. ALD gave me my voice back. My position as chapter Historian taught me the necessary skills for me to achieve in the following
During my high school career, I have participated in a large majority of the clubs available to me, and held officer positions in most of them as well. In both the National Honor Society and Medical Connections Clubs I am a member of two and four years respectively, and was elected treasurer of both for the 2017-2018 school year. National Honor Society has also given me many community service opportunities, including helping with the Night to Shine organization and a volunteering at a local nursing home.
She was interested in joining Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated because she wanted share the experience of having sisterhood on campus who valued the same things she
• also, a financial and dedicated member of The Zeta Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority Incorporated over 30 years.
After many years of providing limited individualized volunteering, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, has presented an opportunity for me to become a part of a collective sisterhood that has a proven long-term history of consistently delivering exceptional public service. When considering the societal challenges throughout the decades, it is apparent that the plight of the twenty-two founders have courageously paved the way for sustainable success. The ability to simultaneously achieve the oneness of sisterhood with the needs of our community is an extraordinary endeavor. Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated, has the determination that makes a difference for the vulnerable, as well as the accomplished. It is this balance that synthesizes
As I started Bloomfield College I have always been interest in joining a sorority. I went to many different interested meeting and none of them caught my attention like Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. did. When I sat down and listen to their history and their goals it really made me change my mind and realize that Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. was the one. I am a proud Latina and to know that they were the first sorority ever created to cater towards the needs of Latinas in the nation made me more excited and enthusiastic on being part of the interested ladies. The main thing that captured my interest was to know that Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. is a scholarly excellence sorority. As any person would think a sorority is about partying and having fun I believe this one focus more on their educational future and to achieve their goals.
I am seeking membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated because I want to grow and contribute my time and talent to an illustrious, originating organization. I aspire to be a part of a sisterhood where I can express myself, and have my skills nourished by prospering African –American women. This summer I was involved in a traumatic car accident and survived, tragically two of my dearest friends did not. On the car third spin I squeezed my eyes shut, and braced myself for a collision. Suddenly, the car jolted forward and flipped. At that very moment I realized that I am here for a greater purpose, and vowed to take the necessary steps to fulfill that purpose. God is not finished with me yet, and I do not want to sit on my Lord.
Volunteering, in minor or significant ways, taught me that I could make an impact in the world and along the way build my character, experience the world, and develop better communication skills. I learned this at my local library, Fumo Family Branch. I aspire to become a part of the National Honors Society because I want to network with my peers and people outside of the Academy at Palumbo, improve my character and leadership skills, and give back to my community. I strongly believe that I am a great candidate because I possess the four pillars of the National Honors Society: scholarship, character, leadership, and service.
I am serious about being in one of our nation’s most respectable sorority within the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated gives me the opportunity to
Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated have made everlasting effects on my life. Having mentors in this fraternity allowed me to see how every member feels responsible for improving the communities that they are from. They never hesitate to take the leadership roles that are needed to see change. I would like to become a member of Alpha Phi Alpha because it would allow us to share a brotherhood with great men, it will allow me to make valuable connections with other positive men around the world, and it will help me become the best version of myself. My desire to become a member of this fraternity began my freshmen year after I attended the first informational meeting. At this meeting I was able to speak with members and also learn from them. They each have strong leadership characteristics that allow them to serve on executive boards across campus and they all are high achieving students at Cornell.
As I was and still am in the process of applying for other AmeriCorps programs, I have had the chance to speak to two different Teach for America staff members who through their informational meetings showed me the importance of the work I would be doing with Teach for America. As a kid, I grew up in poverty with my mom and four other siblings’ living paycheck to paycheck off government assistance. This experience was my motivation to change my future and the statistics I faced as a Black male who grew up in poverty, and also showed me why giving back to the community was the right thing to do! All my life, I have received help from different people, groups, or organizations from neighbors, to my big brother from the Big Brother Big Sister
I solely joined Students of Service and FBLA during my freshmen and sophomore years to return to my community. Trident Robotics has also given me an opportunity to further extend my community service. I have volunteered at food banks, food pantries, book banks, and made an important effort to engage kids into engineering over my high school career. I have done so through FMSC, NIFB, Warren Newport Public Library, Bernie’s book bank etc. This was done not because of requirements, but because I love helping people, especially those that are special or underprivileged. And in doing so, I also feel better as a person because I am not only helping my community, but also helping many others at a global
I’m currently seeking membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, for brotherhood and a friendship, with successful leaders who strive to compel an impact in their communities. Through all my interactions and meeting with members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the features that stood out to me the most that made me personally want to become a member were the friendship they held with each other, and those of similar characteristics. The fact that they were willing to help other men continue to grow and better themselves in any way they could. The men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated that I have met, have pushed myself to become a better man and friend. These bonds have added a value to my life that I am forever grateful for.
My involvement at Texas Tech University falls heavy in the Student Government Association. As a freshman, I served as president of the Freshman Council. During my time in Freshman Council, me and 30 other freshman raised over $1,000 to be awarded to student organizations. In spring of my freshman year, I was elected to serve as an At-Large Senator for 2016-2017. I was also appointed to serve as the chair of the Intergovernmental Committee. In these positions I was able to write recognition and appreciation of service legislation for Jodey Arrington, Randy Neugebauer, and TTUPD and LPD. Just recently, I was re-elected to serve as an At-Large Senator for 2017-2018. In this role, I will also serve as President Pro Temp of the Student Senate and
During my time at Get Acquainted Day, I spoke with several organizations. The first organization I spoke with was the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Most of the Zeta’s are currently students at Central Michigan and celebrating 11th chapter! Now this wasn’t my first time speaking with the Zeta’s, I met with these women during the IMPACT program and I also came in touch with them at Main Stage. Immediately when I walked to their table they were full of excitement and recognized me from the previous times I spoke with them. Something that I learned new about the women of Zeta Phi Beta is that they were first of many sororities to collaborate with another organization; the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity . Together they have worked on various of community service projects, local activities and share a brother and sisterhood bond like no other.
