Silver Linings Playbook is an American romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by David O. Russell In 2012.The film stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence as the two main characters. The film received several major critical successes and earned numerous awards. It was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. It also achieved four Golden Globe Award nominations, with Lawrence winning Best Actress, and three BAFTA nominations, with Russell winning for Best Adapted Screenplay. The reason this movie draws a lot of critic’s attentions is because it accurately reflected the suffering of Pat through the struggle with his mental disorder. However, since this is a product of Hollywood, there are still some details that have been distorted with real life in order to please the viewer’s expectations in terms of feeling and emotion. In Silver Linings Playbook, we learn about the life of a man dealing with bi-polar disorder, how it effects his life and the symptoms, and use the movie as a comparison to what we have learned about the disorder itself.
