Similarities And Differences Between Islam And Christianity

Islam and Christianity are the largest religion in the world and share many common beliefs. The two religions co-exist in many parts of the world. However, each religion has it is own territories where they are the dominant religion. The two religions share almost the same history of inception and concepts of faith. Despite, being similar in many ways, they also have marked differences. The differences have led to mutual distrust between the Christians and the Muslims. Many Muslims have come out openly to criticize the Christian religion and Christians have written many articles condemning the Islam religion. The differences and similarities appear in many aspects of the religions. As such, it is easier to discuss them intensively by restricting the discussion to selected aspects. The life after death and belief in the Supreme Being by the believers of Christianity and Islam religions has many differences and similarities.

In this paper I will be discussing what I learned about Christianity and Islamic faiths. How that even though these two religions have differences that they have core similarities and history that show that they have more in common than they do not have in common. I will discuss my interview at a Christian church and what I learned from it. Then I will discuss how much all the religions I have studied in this class have in common. Touching on their philosophies, beliefs, virtues and traditions and any areas that show areas they have in common.

In Wikipedia religion is defined“A religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and worldviews that relate humanity to an order of existence.” There are approximately more than four thousand religion in the world. Christianity and Islam are part of the major significant religion.

There are many similarities and differences between Judaism, Christianity and Islam. There are also many differences that separate the three major religions of the world. This paper will delve into all three of them.

Islam, Christianity and Judaism are known as the three great monotheistic faiths. Their followers make up 55.5% of the world’s population. (Hackett, 2017) Christianity having the largest following followed by Islam and then lastly Judaism. Though their congregations may differ in faith, they still have more similarities than differences. Such as, their shared heritage to similar traditions, rituals and their view and nature of God through scriptures. They do however have differences that have helped to bridge a gap that has separated them amongst one another. The main objective of this paper is to show how Islam, Christianity and Judaism have a shared heritage and show similarities in their traditions, rituals and the different view of God through their individual scriptures.

Many religions have impacted the thoughts and beliefs of millions around the world. Two of these religions are Islam and Christianity, both of which are similar, yet, incredibly different. Christianity, which had come long before Islam, is known to be the root of Islam which makes sense since the two religions share much in common. They are both Abrahamic and monotheistic religions which means they share the belief in only one true existing God and are rooted to have many similarities. Christianity and Islam are similar in many beliefs and have many intersecting histories. These beliefs include major points such as a God and ancient prophets. However, Islam and Christianity vary significantly between their religious written works. These works are the Bible and the Qur’an. The compilation of both in their respective religions however do point back to God. God being the omnipotent deity in which these religions believe in. It should be mentioned that although both religions have a “God”, that does not mean it is the same God. There are key differences in beliefs, culture and history between the two. These two religions are considered Abrahamic religions. Therefore they share a similar past and their records talk about similar topics and events that transpired in the past. To help distinguish some key points of the two religions, one can compare the works of them, regarding the past. This essay will compare and contrast the same story of Adam and Eve in the Qur’an and Bible and discuss various key points from both and how that applies to elements of its religion.

Christianity and Islam are the two biggest religions that are present in the world today, with close to four billion followers combined. While Christianity and Islam actually have a lot more in common than most people think, there are still many differences to them. First, let’s start with the similarities between the two. Both religions believe that in one way or another, Jesus will return to Earth in the final days of the world to have a judgement day, in which essentially will determine if you go to heaven/paradise or hell, as both accept the fact that there is life after death, just different views of what exactly they think that life is. Another point is that both religions believe in the sovereignty of God. In both Christianity and Islam, God itself is the highest power there is, he is the sole creator of everything and that the world that we live in is exclusively dependent on him and him only. One of the last similarities I’d like to note, and perhaps maybe the most important to some, is that both religions believe that there is just one supreme God over everything.

As of today, the world’s two largest religions Christianity and Islam share an estimated 3.6 billion members, more than half of the world’s population. On the surface, they appear to have almost nothing in common, however, as one goes beyond the surface and examines the other factors such as the rituals, beliefs, ethics, founders, and convictions, the two religions share many similarities. However, in order to truly see and understand these similarities and differences, one must date back to the rise and birth of Christianity and Islam.

Islam and Christianity are wide spread religions in the world. These two major world religions have different belief systems and their common originality, values and some beliefs have enabled most of their believers to respect and try to understand each other's faith. The concept of rituals is more important in understanding religion. I will explain Islam and Christianity based on rituals.
