During the year we had read two books Lord of the Flies and Romeo and Juliet. These two books shared similar conflicts within their plots. Both of the books had an emotional aspect that had caused the conflicts within the story and shows that it’s valid that making decisions based on your emotions leads to negative outcomes. In Lord of the Flies, there are two characters that control two different tribes towards the end of the book. Ralph and Jack both have two different point of views on things. Through Lord of the Flies, Jack and Ralph seem to be conflicted with each other. Jack’s group of hunters were performing a dance celebrating while chanting “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! The plan involved Juliet faking her death before the wedding and Romeo would soon collect her at the Capulet monument and they would escape together. However, the plan was unsuccessful due to the lack of communication, Romeo did not receive the Friar’s letter which resulted in him believing the death of Juliet. This ends with Romeo committing suicide and Juliet as well shortly after, “Here’s to my love! (drinks the poison) O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss, I die.” (5,3,130). In Lord of the Flies, it’s the love between Jack and hunting. At the start of the novel he had failed hunting the pig the first time and wanted to redeem himself. Over the course of the novel, he becomes more addicted towards hunting. This soon leads to his savagery, which results in the destruction of their civilization that they had first established. Early in the novel a ship passed by and Jack’s hunters were responsible for letting the fire out. “You let the fire go out” (69), said Ralph. This was Jack’s first kill so he was excited which caused him to become oblivious towards the fact that everyone on the island could have been rescued. Lastly, in the Lord of the Flies Jack’s tribe had stolen Piggy’s specs, he risked his life to go demand for them back from Jack’s tribe. He was scared without his glasses as he could not see.
