Vietnam and U.S There are many differences and similarities between Vietnam and the United States of America. These two countries are on different continents. For example, Vietnam is in Southeast Asia and United States of America is in North America. In addition, the culture, beliefs and practices of the people are different. There are several similarities and differences between the U.S. and Vietnam, specifically, in education. In both countries, the students go through twelve years of basic education, beginning at the kindergarten. Education in Vietnam divides into five levels: preschool, primary school, secondary school, high school and higher education. Basic education consists five years of primary school, four years of intermediate school, and three years of secondary school. Public education established and monitored by the State.

Students are usually given more independence, moving to different classroom for different subjects, and being allowed to choose some of their class subjects. Middle school usually includes sixth, seventh, and eighth grade and occasionally fifth grade as well. The range defined by either is often based on geographic factors, such as an increase or decrease in the relative numbers of younger or older students, with the aim of maintaining stable school populations. High School usually runs from ninth or tenth through twelveth grade. Students in these grades are commonly referred to as freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. During high school, students usually grade 11th may take more one or more standardized tests depending on their post-secondary education preferences and their local graduation requirements. The SAT and ACT are the most common standardized tests that students take when applying for
In the twentieth century many young adults and many other men were chosen/ drafted to enter the war. The Vietnam War started during the time period of 1959 and this brutal war ended on 1975. It started with the United States sending aid and military advisors to the Southern part Vietnam. The U.S helped the southerners of Vietnam because the northern part of Viet was a communist state so the south wanted to end Communism up in the north. Also, this war was said to be one of the bloodiest wars that took place in the twentieth century. It was a very bloody war because more than 58,000 American soldiers had perished in combat. Also, during the decade of direct U.S Military participation in Vietnam, during early time of the year, 1964 the U.S
It was nice reading through your submission, to add to what you have already stated, a lot of differences and similarities abound between Korean and Vietnam War such as inability of the U.S to contain communist system of government in both countries, both countries experienced major casualties and death during the war, both countries divided after the war whereby they have north and south Korea, North and South Vietnam. Then after the war, the North and South Vietnam united back but North and South Korea never united. Today both North and South Korea practice different system of government whereby the South practice Democratic system while the North still maintained communist till
The Vietnam War and Iraq wars have many more similarities then the common American would think. Both were fighting gorillas in a foreign land in a way that the soldiers were never trained or prepared for, against a foe that despise America as a whole. However I believe the biggest difference is the American publics view and attitude toward each of the two wars. As well as the attitude of the soldiers in each of the wars in 2001 after the September 11 attacks we had people like Pat Tillman give up a career in the NFL and volunteer for the Army. The uprising of pride and numbers plumped to the start of that war. That is greatly different then the attitude during Vietnam when the US government had to institute a draft to help the numbers in soldiers. While people in the streets chanted “hell no we wont go”
The Vietnam War started on the 1st November 1955, however full U.S military involvement was not until over ten years later in 1965 following the Gulf of Tonkin incident in which a U.S Destroyer was reportedly fired upon by North Vietnamese forces. Once again, as with the Korean War five years previous, the North part of the country was the Communists and the South part was the Capitalists. The Vietnam War was a lot more forthcoming than the Korean War, given the ten year period in which military advisers resided in Vietnam before the outbreak. Despite this build up the interest in Vietnam by war correspondents was at a minimal level. It is reported that even in 1963, just two years prior to the full involvement of the U.S military, there were only enough full-time correspondents to fill a table at a restaurant . The lack of media personnel in the country until 1965 shows that despite the indications shown in Korea for the USA to protect their interests, there is not much pull unless there is a full military involvement. The number of correspondents around in Vietnam before 1965 was at a measly eight. However, signifying the size of the war, the peak number in March 1968 hit 645 correspondents in Vietnam . Amongst this number saw a large quantity of female correspondents make their way to Vietnam. In all 467 women were accredited to being correspondents during the war, the most ever in any war . This may have been as a result of the
The other similarity between Vietnam War and World War 2 by comparing and contrasting elements of O’ Brien’s story with other sources was that both wars sacrificed many soldiers and innocent people. In “The Things They Carried,” Kiowa who was the best friend of O’Brien and Ted Lavender who scared the war died because Jimmy misjudged the situation in a sewage field. It indicates cruelness of Vietnam War. World War 2 was the most destructive war in human history what left most property damage and personal injuries from September 1, 1939, to September 2, 1945. It started from the Germany invasion of Poland. Many people died during the war. People in Korea and China were also victims of the World War 2. Japanese controlled their governments
America and Vietnam are two opposite countries with many differences. These countries are on completely different continents so of course they both will be completely different from each other. Their differences are what shows how America is a better country to live in. But on the other hand, Vietnam may not be a good country to live it, it is a lovely place to visit on a vacation. There are several similarities and differences between both America and Vietnam to show why America is the better place to live in.
Regarded as one of the most controversial and polarizing military conflicts in U.S. history, the Vietnam War has left a deep and lasting impact on American culture, politics, and foreign policy. From 1964 to the present day, the Vietnam War redefined the scope of U.S. influence both at home and abroad, and caused a fundamental shift in American society that dramatically changed the way in which Americans viewed their government and the role of the United States as a world power. For an entire generation of Americans, who watched as the horrors of the war in Vietnam unfold before the spotlight of the national media, the Vietnam War directly challenged the superiority of the American way and the infallibility of U.S military dominance. In truth, the U.S government, U.S. military, and the American people as a whole struggled to accept the lessons of America’s greatest military failure and the sobering reality of the war’s consequences. To this day, the legacy of this so-called “American War” continues to resonate throughout the fabric of American society as a cautionary tale of U.S foreign intervention and blind acceptance of open-ended conflict.
In this essay I will be providing a summary and overview the Vietnam war. The Vietnam war changed America forever. The war damaged America's self image by becoming the first time in history that the U.S. failed to accomplish its "stated war aims". The Vietnam war was also the first war ever broadcasted on television. The war is a significant part of US history and influenced a generation.
Although many believe the world would be a better place if everyone were to get along and agree on social differences, but in the end these differences are the root cause of many wars. These two major wars, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, not only had serious impact within the country, but also give a prime example of how similar and different between the two. Both wars were commenced similarly from its conflict with expansion of a communist government and the involvement of the United States. Differences came from the involvement of the United Nation and the outcome of both wars.
The United States leadership differed greatly between that of WWII and Vietnam, because of lack of support from the public, an interchanging of hands during the middle of the war, and the making of decisions that were good for the man not the country.
Another big difference of both countries is food. Vietnamese foods include: rice or noodles, meat, and vegetables in every meal. Almost every Vietnamese meal is sit down rather than grab and go. Vietnamese cuisine mostly focuses on varieties of vegetables and herbs in every dish. A Vietnamese dinner normally includes white rice, a small plate of typical sauce, a bowl of soup, a dish of vegetables, and two dishes of animal meat, which could be pork, beef, fish, and chicken. The vegetables can be made with plenty of different methods: boil, steam, fry, grill, or sometimes we eat raw. The main spices Vietnamese people use to make their food are garlics, peppers, sugar, monosodium glutamate, chicken bouillon, and fish sauce. That makes a harmonious mixture of sweet, spicy, salty taste.
The Vietnam War was one of the bloodiest wars in the history of Vietnam. Vietnam use to be a peaceful country until the idea of communism started spreading across Vietnam. Many wanted to stay democratic but saw what happened to the Germans and started to lean towards communism. Many also wanted to stay democratic and still had it hopes high that it will soon get their lives and economy back on track.
The Vietnam War began in the year 1954, after the ascension to power of Ho Chi Minh, who was a communist leader in North Vietnam. The leader was spreading communism, and because the United States wanted to stop the spread, it sent military troops to aid South Vietnamese to stop this vice. The war saw about 3million people die with the inclusion of 58,000 American soldiers. About 150,000 people were wounded during the war. In 1975, South Vietnamese government surrendered the war after the communist forces forced them to surrender. Vietnam unified communism and became a Socialist Republic. Although decades have passed since the occurrence of the Vietnam war, the American culture, which was partly born as a result of this war, is celebrated
Education in Vietnam I feel like it focus about theory more than practical and education in Vietnam have 9 subject and when the test coming is really stressful to study 9 subject and it more difficult each year . But education in America is more practical and more effective. Student in America just study 4 or 5 subject and student can focus more about each subject when school have test, quiz, ... But student in America must study by their own and voluntarily and when they are not in school they have to do a lot of problem sets, reading assignment and paper, … It helpful to makeup sure the they can understand all the lesson. And that is why student in Vietnam are study abroad to different country to study, they want to learn and know about education in other
Vietnam is world’s 13th most populous country, majorly consisting of Viet and Kinh ethnic groups. Vietnam has Vietnamese as official language and some other languages exist in minority groups. Vietnam adopted “seclusion” policy which made the country isolated and faced a deep crisis which led them on brink of bankruptcy. After 1995, started globalizing and established relation with United States and Vietnam also became member of WTO in 2006. There are many aspects that helped Vietnam to grow faster. PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technical, Legal and Environmental) analysis helps in analyzing overall business opportunities and ease of doing business in country. Vietnam PESTLE analysis is as follows:-
