The Social aspect of both India and the United States refers to the societies within these two nations. Indian society is much more traditional, conservative, and religious. India is focusing on the spread of digital technologies, advances in energy, and productivity of business and agriculture (Kaka, 2014). The United States is much more technologically advanced than India. As those in India use technology to gain jobs, the constant dependence in technology in the United States can lead to the disconnection of people towards the outside world. The reliance on technology could result in the lack of social and developmental skills, constant distraction from smartphones, and negatively impact futures. Health care in India originates with the idea that health is based on our happiness and lifestyle. Ayurveda, which is widely practiced in India, helped start the movement of complimentary and alternative medicine in the west. Although there are only a few trained practitioners, Ayurveda is growing fast in the west. There is now a training program in New Mexico, and Dr. Deepak Chopra helped expand the knowledge of Ayurveda in the United States. Ayruveda gained plenty of recognition because it was thought to be successful in preventing and treating chronic conditions, or any illnesses western medicine can’t treat (Professor Price, Ayurvedic Medicine Powerpoint). This alternative medicine would also be used by those who are desparate for a cure, and have no hope in western medicine. The different practices of Ayurveda also dramatically changed health care by developing treatments such as cleansing, diet, meditation, and spiritual healing. A widely popular practice that evolved that from Ayurveda is yoga. Yoga appeals to all people, and there are no requirements in engaging in the activity. Yoga provides an increase in strength, balance, stamina, flexibility, and relaxation (Professor Price – Yoga Powerpoint). A couple health benefits in yoga include helping with stress, depression, cancer, and low back pain. Integrative medicine is formed when health care providers offer
Society is set up into a hierarchical triangle that essentially determines social class. A social class is any person or group of people with the same educational, social or economical status. Social class can be broken down into many different categories such as race, age, gender, economic status, educational status and many more. Social class can be measured in many different ways such as financial status, family values, appearance, and demeanor. In America there are six main economical social classes which are the: Very poor, Poor, Working class, Middle class, Upper middle class, and the ruling class.
Since India allows people to live freely, some people are very successful, some get by modestly, and others live in poverty. These three levels make up India’s cast system. Just like India the United States has an upper class, middle class, and lower class. Each class is based off of income level and quality of living.
India has one of the largest populations in the world with hundreds of thousands of people immigrating to America. My parents being part of the large number. Culture is a huge focal point in India, but being born in the United States I have learned that I lack some of the culture and appreciation of native Indians. I come from an Indian background with both of my parents being born and raised in India but, considering I was born in the United States, I am not immersed in Indian culture as much as I would have been if I were to be living in India. I feel as though because I am so involved in American customs that I tend to forget my culture of origin.
I have integrated various holistic practices into my treatment plans including acupuncture, yoga, massage, meditation and prayer. I also discuss and recommend the importance of balance in our lives, which is a major philosophy of Ayurvedic Medicine, “balance between body, mind and spirit” (What is the philosophy, n.d.). I stress how healthy choices regarding diet, exercise and relationships can impact a patient’s physical, emotional and spiritual balance in their life.
Practitioners always want to search for the best possible therapy to achieve the best care to patients. Also, therapists want to ensure possible way of treatment to achieve the most effective to patient care. One of the best approaches is an integrative medicine. The integrative medicine is a term that is used to explain a different method of treatment and care in the medical field. Everyone needs to understand that there is a different prospective between the alternative medicine, western medicine and integrative medicine. In my opinion, the integrative medicine is a combination therapy that consists of alternative medicine and Western medicine. Also, integrative medicine focuses on the relationship between the practitioner and the patient. In addition, the integrative medicine seems to be better than Western medicine and alternative medicine because it
The basis of the standard hierarchy is challenged by the rise of social media and therefore directly correlates with the influence of celebrities and people with a name brand. Most social scientists agree that society is stratified into a hierarchical arrangement of social classes. Social classes are groupings of individuals in a hierarchy, usually based on wealth, educational attainment, occupation, income, and membership in a subculture or social network. Social class in the United States is a controversial topic; there have been many competing definitions, models, and even disagreements over its very existence. Many Americans believe in a simple three-class model that includes the rich or upper class, the middle class, and the poor or working
Homeopathic medicine act by stimulating the body's own defense mechanism and healing powers. Siddha Medicine’ means medicine that is perfect. . Siddha Medicine revitalizes and rejuvenates the organs, the dysfunction of which is causing the disease. Although yoga includes physical exercise, it is also a lifestyle practice for which exercise is just one component. Training your mind, body, and breath, as well as connecting with your spirituality, are the main goals of the yoga lifestyle.
This exercise can do a lot when it comes to improving your overall physical health. A research from physicians at the HMO Group Health Cooperative in Seattle discovered that yoga can help reduce diabetes, heart disease, and even chronic pain throughout the body. In other words, yoga works on building muscles and increasing endurance.
A few disadvantages of India’s social system are that Religion, caste, and language are major determinants of social organizations. According to the US Department of State-Background Notes website, even though the government has declared the caste system as illegal, it still has a presence in occupational and societal hierarchies (The Office of Electronic Information, Bureau of Public Affairs, 2010).
However, what if chronic back pain could be managed by adding alternative therapies such as yoga to modern treatments? Yoga is an additional therapy that decreases chronic back pain by promoting movement and decreasing pain medication dependence (Lee, Crawford & Schoomaker, 2014). This could radically reduce the dependence on drugs for pain relief and lead to a movement where pain is managed with the help of both modern medicine and affordable alternative remedies. With this in mind, promoting alternative therapies, such as yoga, in collaboration with modern treatments provides a larger range of options with different efficiencies for those with chronic back pain.
Yoga's psychological benefits include; improvement of anxiety, depression, stress tolerance, addictive disorders, bi polar disorders, eating disorders, insomnia and overall emotional balance. Physical benefits include; improvement of chronic pain, reduction of heart rate and blood pressure, increased circulation, and function. The benefits continue; improvement in venous return of the
Nevertheless population size increased an interesting fact that comes in limelight is that India holds the maximum working population as compared to any country in the world making it one of the highest potential bearing country to economic growth and development and ruling the world. This gives rise to possibly two mainstream targets which India should focus on:
