Macbeth is one of the most powerful murder stories in literature. Macbeth and Banquo were the generals of King Duncan’s army. Macbeth had a visit with three witches that told him he would become the next king after Duncan. He let Banquo in on the information that the witches told him, but Banquo left out the information they also told him. He was told that son, Fleance, would also become king after Duncan.
Macbeth became very impatient waiting for Duncan to die so he took it to his wife, Lady Macbeth, who encouraged him to kill Duncan just so she could inherit all the riches a queen would receive. Banquo knew about Macbeth’s run in with the witches but he didn’t know that he wanted to kill him and when he found out he lost all respect of him. He became a target for Macbeth.

Macbeth became furious and that information added to his actions of wanting to kill him and his son. Banquo went to warn Fleance that Macbeth is going to kill him and he needs to avenge his death. Macbeth’s murderers came and killed Banquo, yet one of them let Fleance escape.
Macbeth becomes king while Fleance has run away. The ghost of Banquo haunts Macbeth. His ghost represents Macbeth’s guilt for killing possibly his only friend because of his greed. Banquo is dead and Lady Macbeth is also gone, now Macbeth is alone. He turns to the three witches for answers.
The witches told him that the ghost of Banquo is a symbol of his guilt. He is a ghost behind Fleance but also a ghost behind every king after him, meaning Banquo is the line where the future kings of Scotland come from. Macbeth realized killing him did nothing to protect his throne because Banquo would win even after
After everyone has found out that the king is dead Banquo suspects Macbeth of doing something to make the witches predictions that they ways saying to become true. At that time Macbeth is king so he turns on his best friend Banquo and has him and all of his family including Fleance killed because he was the only person there when the predictions of Macbeth becoming king and also the witches said that Banquos son Fleance would become king too. So this shows that that Macbeth is getting over protective of his crown to the throne so he will do anything to stop people becoming king. So he will kill he’s best friend and his family only because the three withes said that predictions of Macbeth becoming king. So Macbeth is going into a downward spiral towards great darkness and becoming ever more evil from every action he makes and does to protect the crown.
After he had attained his destiny, Macbeth felt that Banquo would become a serious threat. He did not like the fact that Banquo was destined to be a father to a whole line of kings. "Our fears in Banquo stick deep, and in his royalty of nature reigns that which would be feared...If `t be so, for Banquo's issue have I filed my mind; for them the gracious Duncan have I murdered..."(85). The path Macbeth chooses to take in order to stay at the throne was to have Banquo killed. But, Macbeth was never destined to kill anyone. Killing Duncan, Banquo and Macduff's whole household were all his decisions to attain his destiny.
But, later on in the play we learn by the witched that Banquo's descendants will become King and that they will prosper. It says “Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none”, when Macbeth learns about this and hears about it he is scared and then eventually considers Banquo as a threat to him to become King. So Macbeth has to come up with a solution to this and eventually comes up with the solution that he must murder Banquo and his son Fleance. He gets two murders to go out and murder Banquo and his son while they are walking so that his promise of becoming king will not be in jeopardy. This is an ironic act of betrayal because Macbeth and Banquo have been friends for a long time and have done everything together. Banquo was not just his friend he was also the co-commander of the army and had some power in Scotland.
The actions he makes based on these intentions result in the death of Banquo and eventually Macbeth’s insanity due to his transgressions. After Duncan’s murder in act two, Macbeth though in a position of great authority, fears being exposed by the noblemen around him. Banquo swears to find the man behind the king’s death saying, “In the great hand of God I stand, and thence against the undivulg’d pretence I fight of treasonous malice” (2.3.126-128). Macbeth aware of Banquo’s intentions reveals his plan to derail it in act three through a
One of the main causes of his distress on the throne is the delusion he has been experiencing. One of the deaths he is responsible for was the murder of a formally dear friend of his Banqou. Macbeth is tormented by the ghost of his former friend that roams around his halls and his seen by only him. The spirit is a constant reminder of the inhuman deeds that Macbeth has committed.

Macbeth was worried that Banquo would tell everyone that Macbeth did in fact kill Duncan. Macbeth plotted to kill Banquo because he feared Banquo would overthrow him. Both Macbeth and Banquo planned to kill Duncan, Macbeth was made king after Duncan’s death.
Eventually Macbeth begins to fear Banquo is too much competition as well and says, “Our fears in Banquo stick deep,/ And in his royalty of nature reigns that/Which would be feared.” (III.i.49-50) Macbeth proceeds to say that Banquo is the only one who stands between him and the throne and that seems to be the deciding factor when it comes to the murder of Banquo and Fleance. The downfall is set even further into motion when Macbeth hires murderers who succeed in killing Banquo but fail to kill Fleance. Because of all the careless acts Macbeth makes he harms himself and hurdles towards his own destruction.
Seeing Banquo’s ghost has made Macbeth paranoid and question everything he does. He is not as confident as he used to be. It is obvious that Banquo still has an impact on Macbeth even after he has died because of the fact that Macbeth cannot stop thinking about Banquo’s
After he is named king, Macbeth's misery and eventual downfall is caused by his own insecurities and misguided determination to take control of his future. Firstly, the witches' prophecy concerning Banquo's descendants and Macbeth's feeling of inferiority to Banquo lead Macbeth to arrange for the murder of Banquo and his son, Fleance. Having Banquo around him is a constant reminder to Macbeth of the evil deed he himself has committed and the knowledge that Banquo's, not Macbeth's children, will be

He is not completely on board with this idea yet, and calls in murderers to do this one for him.
He targets Banquo thinking that since he heard the witches fortunes he will accuse him of killing the king. In order to handle this Macbeth hires two people to murder Banquo and his son. They trap them in the woods, Banquo is killed but his son escapes. When Macbeth hears of this he is angry because his son was part of the prophecy not Banquo. The murderers are killed to prevent anyone from accusing Mabeth of doing wrong. Macbeth once again knows that what he has done is wrong and guilt starts to eat at him. There is a dinner party being hosted in his castle that night and he starts to have visions of Banquo even though he is dead. Macbeth, being the only one who knows that he is dead, begins yelling and asking who has brought him here. He comes very close to revealing everything he has done, but Lady jumps in and tells everyone that he has had fits like this since he was little and it means nothing. She quickly pushes everyone out of the castle before Macbeth can say anything

To get rid of the treat with banquo he decides to kill him and his son Fleance.
