As said by music artist Jay-Z “As kids we didn't complain about being poor; we talked about how rich we were going to be and made moves to get the lifestyle we aspired to by any means we could. And as soon as we had a little money, we were eager to show it.” I believe that J.K. Rowling, Jay-Z and Chris Rock all have overcome circumstances that people didn’t think they would. I believe success can be measured in a person by how much he sacrifices to reach his goals, how hard he works, and how he overcomes difficult circumstances. J.K. Rowling epitomizes how much someone has to sacrifice to become one of the most famous people in the world before her success she went from a failed marriage and severe depression at one time she was even homeless with a …show more content…
When he got older the bullying got worst that his parents took him out of James Madison High School. And from there he drop out of high school all together. There are tons of people in our world today who have become very successful and these people find success in different ways. Some people work hard their whole life to achieve success and others just seem to be born talented in
Obviously success is usually defined by how much money you have. In this day in age if you don’t have money you’re a failure; so go get
Using an outline really helped me with my writing. Having an outline there next to me, it help me to be able to go back and look to see if I forgot any main points. I actually used the outline because it helped me write strong paragraphs. Doing this I-Search paper, helped me to know how to evaluate websites and maybe some information. What I learned from this I-Search paper, was about the Warsaw Concentration Camp and websites I
He went on to be a member of Saturday Night Live, further making him become a recognized comedian and he started recording his comedy album call Born Suspect, which he released in the year 1991. He wrote a low budget comedy CB4, which ended up making up to $18 million despite having a $6 million budget. At this point, Chris Rock was well known throughout the United States of America and since then he went on to become even more
Since poverty can span multiple generations its important how socioeconomics keeps the disadvantaged from achieving success. Poverty and the distribution of wealth are class issues, admittedly complicated by race and gender, we are born into a particular social class, and most of us will die in the same one into which we are born. While some will rise above our class origins, many more equally conscientious willing and able will remain in poverty. Although there are some cases that maybe used to counter the effects of socioeconomics on success, overachieving through hard work may still be halted and misunderstood. When people ask me how I managed to move out of poverty, I always get a lump in my throat. It is not because I am embarrassed to tell of my journey or because I want to forget that part of my past. Instead, I fear that people will think that I just decide to pull myself up by my boat
In life obstacles may get in our way when trying to achieve success, but do not quit. People from many cultures all over the world long to show the greatness on the inside of them. In life it does not matter what walk of life you come from, but the walk you take is what defines the future. Success does not come from being rich, poor or having a love for a certain sport. Hard work perseverance, and dedication always play an important factor when one is trying to achieve a specific goal or gain success, not being rich or poor. Tyler Perry is successful actor, producer, screenwriter, and play writer, that has blessed Americans through his amazing works. Success comes from having a mind frame of who you are and where you want to be.
College students should be able to get paid when they play basketball. College players should get paid. They should get paid, but not that much. If they do nothing except sit on the bench they shouldn’t get paid as much as the players that actually play. You shouldn’t have to pay to get paid. Without a doubt college players should get paid, if they sit on the bench they won’t get paid as much as others, and they shouldn’t pay to get paid.
People find success in mysterious ways: success can be perceived as different things in life. When in hard times I have realized that desperation becomes an issue because it seems like the best and only option. During the great depression when people lost everything because of the market crashing they tried to get any job they could. One success story that came out of this was by Floyd Bostwick Odlum. “He began swooping in to buy up failing companies at drastically reduced prices.” This didn't sound like the smartest move at the time but was very effective, so effective that he earned the title “possibly the only man in the United States who made a great fortune during the great depression.” He further became one of the top ten wealthiest
One article with a story was “Boor Poor and Smart.” The author is Angela Locke, a writer for a journal that fights for feminism, off our backs [sic]. In most of the article, the author tells about how she was born into poverty and how her mother fought to get out of it. Her mother was not successful, but the author believes it is possible to get out of poverty and is very optimistic about her future. After that, the author tells us what her mother did right and what she did wrong. Thus, why she didn’t become successful. A quote from the article is, “Success is not only living by the values that you believe in, but being in some was recognized in the world for those values. Success is not is not only discovering your talents and your interests, but being able to make a living using them”
Imagine being taunted for having to wear potato-sack dresses because of poverty, or growing up in impoverishment American housing projects. Two of the most famous people had to go through those trails in their life, but made it out VERY successfully. Oprah was raised being taunted for having to wear potato-sack dresses because of her poverty. Oprah now has a television network called OWN. She is a talk-show host, a book club president, an actress, a producer, a magazine owner, a satellite radio station owner, a philanthropist, a lifestyle guru, and a single-handed president picker. The other is an African-American born into impoverished American housing projects, Jay-Z. He is now the current CEO of Roc Nation and his net worth is an estimated $450 million. Even though neither of these people hadn’t come from lovely backgrounds, they had various trials, and tribulations, but they made it through and became some of the most successful people in the world. Growing up in a rough environment can be extremely hard. It can either make or break a person. From home life, to schooling, to jail systems, and the streets being an easy backup. growing up in this environment can be huge deals in the success of young African Americans.
Success is a relative term. To a wealthy CEO, success is making his business one million in sales that day. To a child living on the streets, eating dinner that day is a success. What someone might not see though is that the child can teach the businessman a thing or two about about how to live life: humility. Realising that there is more to life than monetary gains, some people just need to appreciate meeting their basic needs. Furthermore, this easy lesson of humility provides the people living in wealth with a sense of how privileged they are.
When I first heard that I had to interview someone and write a paper about how successful they are, I’ll admit, I thought we’d be interviewing a bunch of wealthy old white guys that have never known the meaning of failure. To my surprise, Josh Mitchell was neither elderly nor rich. After being thrown off, I quickly recovered and told myself that there must have been some major factor that helped him find an easy path to success. Speaking with Josh for even just a few minutes revealed that his success was not built on money or social status, but alternatively the problems he went through in life. I used to think success was only achieved by being smart and born into a well off family, but after talking to Josh Mitchell, I
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or the amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you’ve accumulated. I find that the older I grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most successful. Rich, poor or in between, they’ve tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination. They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn’t afford it, they ordered the $55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start-up company, moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they managed to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is practiced, things won’t spin out of control.
Did you that 1 out of every 10 people will be successful? "Success" is measured by the eye within our society, we all see what we want but do not make the expectation that it takes to become successful, with in ones lifetime. Even though we may see the glamorous things we never see the downfall that kicks off the rise. Oprah Winfrey is known by her successful artwork as an Author, Television host, Network Owner, Media Proprietor, Activist, Producer and etc. Who was raised in Kosciusko, Mississippi by her grandmother since the separation of her mother and father. She knew that she was headed for greatness when she was in kindergarten she was skipped to the first grade, then from the first grade she was placed in the third grade out ranking
She would later create a character based upon herself in her most famous books of the “Harry Potter Series”. Her favorite class was English growing up. At lunchtime she would create her own stories to tell her friends. These stories were often heroic stories (“J.K.”). Having captured the attention and gained an audience for her work this only inspired Rowling further to continue on her journey on becoming a writer.
