Kevin has many qualities, but one that stands out is his cleverness. His cleverness comes in handy in difficult situations. For example, Kevin gets bullied by Tony D. because of his physical appearance. “Blade goes ‘Hey what?’and he moves right in front of Freak. ‘ Want to say that again little freak man?’ Freak says, ‘Cretin. C-R-E-T-I-N. Defined as someone who suffers from mental deficiency.”’ (Philbrick 31). Kevins cleverness protects him and Max from bullying because Kevin uses complex language to stand up for Max. Even though Tony D. is much bigger than Kevin, Kevin shows that his

Throughout the novel, Freak the Mighty, author Rodman Philbrick brings the two main characters, Max and Kevin nicknamed “Freak”, together through friendship between two completely different people. The two friends friendship made both Kevin and Max stronger in their own ways; whether it be Max and his self confidence or Kevin with his size. From reading “True Notebooks”, I chose to write about Kevin Jackson, while reading I was able to observe his personality. He is calm, likeable, and easy going once he opens up. At juvenile hall he minds his own business and is a messenger. Also he wants become a chef once he is out and likes to help out in the kitchen at juvenile hall. Kevin is well liked by authority figures such as Mark, Janet, and Mr. Sill. Growing up, Kevin did not have a positive childhood. In fact, his childhood was shocking and most likely this has affected his behavior. When Kevin was nine years old he experienced traumatizing event, both of his parents dying in a car accident. When he was in elementary school he had a hard time coping with his event. After experiencing
“One name, two fates,” that what the author of the Other Wes Moore stated on the cover of his book. Two boys that were born in the same neighborhood in Baltimore, and had a difficult childhood since they both grew up fatherless. The coincidence was that the two boys were called Wes. They both shared a lot of similarities from living in a poor neighborhood and growing up in Baltimore street corners with their squads. However, their futures were completely different as one achieved the impossible and the other was a convicted murderer serving a life sentence.
The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore is a novel about two kids who happen to grow up with the same name of Wes Moore. Surprisingly, both boys had many similarities between each other. They grew up with the same kind of background and surroundings but had different households and futures. In the novel, Wes Moore is talking about how different him and the Other Wes have ended up living and he says “I realized how difficult it is to separate the two.
Without them he would simply be wandering aimlessly in the forest. It was very important for Kevin
The development of these traits could he attributed to the unexpected conflicts faced during the war. His present character could be compared to his past character. For instance, Marsden reveals that Kevin was a conceited and narcissistic figure; "He was known for having a big ego and he like to take credit for everything" (pg. 14) Contrary to the egotistic Kevin, during the war when Corrie was painfully shot, he catered for her despite the insistence from his other companions to leave and run; Eg. "Corrie's my mate and I'm not going to dump her and run. It has to be me or Ellie because we're the only drivers, and Ellie, if you don't mind, I want to do it." ( pg.
