In conclusion, both Khaled Hosseini and William Shakespeare excel at presenting a world or a patriarchal society in their given setting and time. Both highlighting misogyny, patriarchy, and the unethical treatment of women. However, Hosseini depicts a patriarchal society of females subjecting to male’s will, while Shakespeare's depicts a patriarchal society of females willing to subject themselves to the male. Mariam and Laila were well developed as a female collective, showing strength through the bonding of the female experience in A Thousand Splendid Suns and Desdemona was well developed as a bias female character: submissive and timid, in Othello.
