Bush received a memo that had been handed to him titled “Bin Laden determined to strike in the U.S.” saying, he would be hijacking planes, and possibly targeting NYC. Pearl Harbor could have been avoided as well if only Franklin D. Roosevelt had been more serious about the memo he was given by the naval intelligence stating that Tokyo’s military and spy network was focused on Hawaii just three days before the attack on 12/07/1941. The attack on Pearl Harbor resulted in a total loss of 2,335 U.S. servicemen. A total number of serviceman killed was and 1,143 were wounded, a total of sixty-eight civilians were also killed as well thirty-five ,were wounded in the attack that day in december of 1941.A total of 2,343 men were killed, a total of 1,272 were wounded and 960 people remain missing. Due to the attack on the world trade center in 2001, 2,996 people were killed 18 people were rescued alive from the rubble. Only 1,600 people were identified out of the 2,749 that were present at the time that the twin towers collapsed. First I’ll be discussing the similarities between these two horrific tragedies. I recently found out that both Pearl Harbor and 9/11 could have been avoided.
