Similarities Between Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief

Decent Essays
The book that was most special to me was Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief, along with the rest of the books in the series. Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief was one exceptional book about a boy who realizes he is a half-blood, which means one of his parents is a god, and that is best friend, Grover, is a satyr. Shortly before he is taken to a camp for half-bloods, his mom is taken by a minotaur. Not knowing what to do, he and Grover decide to try and go to the camp which is hidden from normal people by the mist. It was a well-written book and it was the first book I read that didn’t have any pictures. I read this book when I was in Grade 3. For me, it was a transition book into becoming a more mature reader. He relies on his wand and his magic, and rarely is he without his or anybody’s wand. But they still have the aspect, that because one of their parents is special or has special abilities, they both can do magical things and that they both seem to have only 2 main friends.

By reading Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief, it led me to other action-adventure and fantasy books such as The Lost Hero, The Red Pyramid, and other similar books. It also changed the way I think of and relate other books with similar elements. After reading Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief, I have become a more mature reader, and have opened up to more genres as well as being able to think deeper and relate to other books more. Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief and the other books in the series made me a much better writer. It was truly a great story and it’s one that I will never
