Is doomed love a popular subject? It sure seems like it. Between The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe fated demise seems to strike the attention of many authors. Not only are the plots strikingly familiar in both writings but the characters and the events show a definite parallelism. The lovers both quarrel through the events and they will do anything to get back to each other. Especially when separation joins the many hardships that occur in these tragedies. Both the story and the play have differences, but overall share a similar theme of ill-fated love. They use this to form a complex romance story that turns quickly into a calamitous tragedy. To start off we’ll go to the end. In both The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe the two lovers put themselves into a dangerous situation and certain evidence had made them believe that the other had died. In Pyramus and Thisbe everything was going smoothly until it went terribly wrong and the poor communication between the lovers was perfectly legible. When Thisbe went out to meet her soulmate mate at the tomb she was scared away by a ferocious bloody mouthed lion and in her hurry to escape it she dropped her cloak. In turn the lion ripped up the cloak with his jaws and dashed away.Pyramus came acrossed the scene and assumed that Thisbe had surely been devoured by a stalking lion.
