“O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo.”(1.2.33). One of the most known lines of this love infused play written by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet. In this Elizabethan era play there is love shown by everyone to each other, but some are very different and alike. What happens is two families are cursed with a feud for centuries, but as two lovers come to realize the feud needs to end, commit suicide. Romantic love and friendship love fill this story but can be confused but, easy to tell differences and similarities once you know each.
Shakespeare includes romantic love which is two people loving each other in a romantic way . A line in the play where Juliet says, “Deny thy father and refuse thy name if thou wilt not be but sworn my love.”(1.2.34-35). She is saying that she will no longer be a Capulet, so Romeo will love her. If she does this for him its easy tell she would only do that if they both loved each other enough to abandon, and give up their own last name. Another instance when romantic love is shown is when Juliet said, “My only love sung from my only hate!”(1.5.137). She is saying this because when she and Romeo met at the ball they both loved each other. But she once she figured out she loved a Montague that's what she said,

Benvolio said, “I’ll pay that doctrine or else die in debt.”(1.2.234). He’s saying that because Romeo is acting all depressed and Benvolio is trying to get him to stop thinking about her. But Romeo is saying he won’t be able to and then Benvolio says this, saying he would die for Romeo if he forgot about Rosaline. Another instance where friendship love is shown is when Romeo said, “Gentle Mercutio, put thy rapier up.” (3.1.80). He is basically saying put down your sword and don’t fight. Romeo says this to Mercutio because he doesn’t want him to fight Tybalt so he doesn’t get
Romeo and Juliet talks about their love for eachother even when they knew this was not going to end well. The lovers go behind everyones backs and got married to each other. Romeo conspires with the friar, “ I pray thee chide me not,her not I love now; Doth grace, and love for love allowed(Shakespeare II.iii.85-90).
Young men’s love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes.” ( Act 2, Line 3) He doubts Romeo’s love for Juliet, and thinks that Romeo is only infatuated with Juliet’s beauty. He cautions Romeo to be careful as he believes that he is falling too fast. However, despite his overwhelming doubt and cautions, Friar Laurence tells the star-crossed lovers, “Come, come with me, and we will make short work; For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone Till holy church incorporate two in one.” (Act 2, Scene 6)
Now that Juliet has met Romeo, she is lovestruck. After the party, Juliet is on the balcony, dreaming about Romeo. Little does she know that Romeo is hiding in the bushes. As he hides, Juliet speaks of him, “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a
When Romeo first catches sight of Juliet, she is compared to the radiant light of the torches and tapers that light up Capulet's hall, as stated, "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!" (Shakespeare, 1579) . Romeo also says that Juliet is the light that gives him freedom from his everlasting depression. During the well known balcony scene, Romeo associates Juliet with daylight, sunlight, and the light radiate from God's angels. When Romeo first catches sight of Juliet, she is compared to the radiant light of the torches and tapers that light up Capulet's hall, as stated, "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!"
He proclaimed his love in many ways, first by risking his life to go see Juliet at her balcony, second he would die for Juliet and third he was willing to give up his last name for her. Romeo was truly in love with Juliet. Romeo truly loves Juliet because he risked his life to go see Juliet at her balcony. “The orchard walls are high and hard to climb and the place of death considering who thai art it any of my kingsmen find thee here”. This quote is saying that if any of Juliet's relatives find Romeo that they would kill him because he is a Montague and she is a Capulet.
In act I.1.226-228 it says “She hath, and in that sparing makes huge waste; for beauty, starved with her severity cuts beauty from all posterity” which is Romeo saying that he loves a girl and she doesn't love him back. At the end of that act he falls in love with another girl “O she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night”1.5.50-52. The girl he loves is a enemy of his household and one of the members (Tybalt) sees him and says “ This, by his
One character that Romeo greatly influences is his best friend Mercutio. Mercutio just happens to be Romeo’s foil character, (provides contrast to Romeo, and has what he needs to succeed) and is strong when it comes to women and whereas Romeo is not. (I, 4, 27-28) “If love be rough with you, be rough with love. Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down,” Mercutio tells him to be strong with love. Mercutio gets influenced by Romeo because he is determined to stick up for his friend.
“but love thee better than thou canst devise”3.1 . The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare tells us a story you think is love that is not. Here we have is a friend from the play named Romeo. He has the trait of many but I'll only share one with you. Romeo is well what you call a lover boy( aka a boy in dear love with a girl at first site). But I shall tell you all about these significant actions, statement, and appearance that show he is just that. Well then let's get started!
William Shakespeare has written a play called Romeo and Juliet to add detail to his proposition of love. This play is about two youthful people who fall in love with each other and what authentic love really is. Through, they cannot be together due to factors such as family disputes and an arranged marriage. As a result of being utterly overwhelmed by current events, Romeo and Juliet end their lives together. The star-crossed lovers exhibit a suicidal impulse that relates to young and desperate love because they have known each other for a short-lived amount of time. Shakespeare does consider a self-destructive tendency connected to love because they committed suicide for each other.

Imagine marrying the woman you love then banished from the town that you live in along with her,and a day after hearing that she has died.Romeo and Juliet by:Shakepseare can tell you about two lovers that exist in enemy families that get married and go through the ruffest time in their lives. In the book Romeo and Juliet the author Shakespeare has an unfavorable look on love throughout the whole story.Although people might say he has a favorable look on the whole thing.
Lady Capulet, Juliet’s mother, talks to Juliet about getting married soon. Juliet agrees to give Paris, the man she is supposed to marry, a shot. However, after she meets Romeo at the party and finds out that he is a Montague, Juliet states how her fate is unlucky. She says that her “only love, [is] sprung from [her] only hate!”, which shows just how dramatic she is being, when they only just met. After Juliet finds out that Romeo has been banished, she says how she would rather die than live without him.
Romeo was in love with Rosaline a couple days before which he barely knew. And now he fell in love with Juliet in 1 day which he was with for only about a hour and a hour isn’t enough time to know someone a lot and to even love them. In Romeo and Juliet it also says “O she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night Like a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear, Beauty too rich for use , for earth too dear! So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows, As yonder lady o’er her fellows shows The measure done, I’ll watch her of stand, And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand. Did my heart love till now?forswear it, sight.” This is part when Romeo crashes the Capulet party and see Juliet for the first time. Romeo in this piece of verse , Romeo was saying that he never saw anything more beautiful and he ask himself if he just fell in love which he was but he only fell in love for seeing her beauty not her personality. The two lovers would have to know each other more other than beauty and might now love each other and be happy because they would've found out who they actually were and how they act as individuals.
In 'Romeo and Juliet', Shakespeare portrays different aspects and types of love in many ways. The obvious love is the fateful love between Romeo and Juliet although the play also displays platonic love, maternal love and aspects of adolescent love.
The love expressed and communicated between Romeo and Juliet Is passionate, brave, and endearing. According to the play itself, when Juliet is having a word with Romeo, she states “Dost thou love me?... If dost thou love, pronounce it faithfully,” (Pg 17). At this point, early in their forbidden love, they are unsure about whether or not this emotion is authentic. Is their love as undeniable as each of them seem to believe? Soon, on page 16, Romeo says “O, speak again, bright angel! For thou art as glorious to this night, being o’er my head,” (pg 16). Here, Romeo speaks out with his love for Juliet, as he is already head over heels in love with her. During, these scenes, Shakespeare does an impeccable job of illustrating how amid such a brief lifetime, Romeo and Juliet fell for each other like no other, so deeply that they would be willing to die for each other for this passion.
