The book, The Great Gatsby, was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and was first published on April 10, 1925. The movie, Trouble with the Curve was written by Randy Brown, directed by Robert Lorenz and the main actors are Clint Eastwood as Gus Lobel and Amy Adams as Micky Lobel. The characters Gus Lobel from Trouble with the curve and Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby are both similar and different. Lobel and Gatsby both persevere and show determination when there is an obstacle in the way, however, Gatsby is a man in love while Lobel is a man on a path to survival. He wants to marry Daisy and he is so determined that not even her husband can stop him. Winning her love is the only thing Gatsby cares about. He tries many times to win her over but fails. However, he is so determined that he never gives up. “‘She’ll be alright tomorrow,’ he said presently. ‘I’m just going to wait here and see if he tries to bother her about that unpleasantness this afternoon.’” Gatsby wouldn’t leave her alone even after he knew he had lost her. Lobel is a scout for the Atlanta Braves. He loves his job and never wants to retire. When Lobel’s eyesight starts fading, he could potentially lose his job. His friend Pete thinks Lobel might have some health problems he is to stubborn to admit, so he sends Gus’s daughter Micky with him to North Carolina where he is scouting. “‘Have you noticed anything lately?
