Marxism and Kafka’s life:
In real life, Kafka had very close and friendly relation with his father but they were quite contradictory to each other. The behavior of Kafka’s dad was very stern and strict just like Gregor’s father in “The Metamorphosis”. The relation of Kafka and his father can also be determined by upper class and lower class because Kafka’s father was very ethical but Kafka himself was quite immoral.
One another similarity between Kafka’s and Gregor’s father was that both were salesman by occupation. Kafka used to do job in an insurance corporation.

The metamorphosis” is novella by Franz Kafka (German economist). It was published in 1916. This novella shows dehumanizing effect of capitalistic society according to economic point of view. Humans can only have their value just like a meager object in capitalism. This …show more content…

But if we study this text with Marxist point of view, we come to know that this whole tale has great relevance to our society. The protagonist of “the metamorphosis”, Gregor Samsa, is representing a working class or proletariat. While on the other hand, his boss who is unnamed in the entire novella represents the middle class or bourgeoisie. So, the entire play deals with the struggle of working class.
The clash arises in the novella, when the protagonist transforms s into an insect. His transformation into an insect makes him unable to perform any job. According to Kafka, “the metamorphosis” has three divisions. In the beginning Kafka reveals the details about family’s economic position in the society. Afterwards, he discusses Gregor’s transformation details and in the last he discusses the consequences of a person who is unable to perform any kind of job.
