Listed at the very end of the document are the people’s rights and freedoms, also known as the Bill of Rights. This set-up is the opposite of the Italian Republic. The set-up of the constitutions is where the two have differences. The legislative branches also stray from each other. The U.S. legislature is made up of two groups, the Senate and the House of Representatives. To be elected into the Senate, a person must be 30 years of age and nine years as a citizen. Each term lasts for six years (every two years one third of the Senate is replaced) and there are two senators elected from each state. The vice president is the president of the Senate, but has no vote in the decisions the Senate makes. The Senate may propose a bill, but all bills …show more content…
This branch is made up of the president and vice president. To be president, a candidate must be 35 years of age and 14 years a citizen. Each president can run for two four-year terms. The president and vice president run together as a pair; they are not individually elected. Unlike Italy, the citizens of the United States vote on who they want to be president. When elected into office, the president must take an oath of allegiance to the country. As president, there are specific duties listed in the constitution such as: being commander and chief of the army and navy, making treaties with foreign countries (given that two thirds of the senate agrees), and appointing judges and ambassadors. If the president fails to uphold these duties or commits forgery, a misdemeanor, or a felony, the legislative branch can impeach him/her. In the case of impeachment or death, the vice president would then take over. This differs from the process Italy uses in this situation. The last branch discussed in the American Constitution is the Judicial, which slightly differs for the Italian Judicial branch. This branch is made up of the Supreme Court and other courts below it. These courts are responsible for all cases except an impeachment. Unlike the Italian Republic, the U.S. allows the president to appoint the judges of the Supreme Court, provided that the Senate approves. The Congress selects the other court’s judges. All of these courts work together to interpret and enforce the laws outlined in the
The Judicial branch consists of justices and courts in the US, and their job is to interpret the laws created by Congress. The highest court of the US is the Supreme Court and the title of those who serve on the high court is associate judges. There are nine judges, eight associate judges and one chief judge. Those judges are appointed by the president, approved by the senate, and serve for life. There are ninety one district courts and twelve appeal courts. Courts have jurisdiction over the Constitution, federal laws, treaties. Laws governing ships, the United States government itself, ambassadors or public ministers, two or more state government, citizens of different states, and a state or its citizens versus a foreign country.
The House of Representatives appears to have a lot of similarities with the Senate however, there are minor and major differences that divides them in many ways. If we take a closer look at the House of Representatives; you will notice that for starters, it is four times the size of the Senate. The House of Representatives holds 435 members which compared to the Senate only holds 100. There is a much shorter term served for the House; 2 years as opposed to the 6 year term served for the Senate. There is also an age difference along with other requirements for joining the two parties as well (25 years for the House and 30 years old for the Senate).
The United States Congress is dived into two section: The House of Representatives and the Senate. The United Sates Senate has a total of 100 members, while the House of Representatives has 435 members. In order to become a member of the Senate, one must be at least 30 years old, and have been a U.S Citizen for 9 years at the time of the elections. One must also be a resident of the state they will be representing. The House of Representatives, however, requires that a person be at
The Judicial branch is the court system that interprets the laws in route to being passed. In the United States, the judicial branch of government incorporates the Supreme Court and the lower courts which are made up by members of Congress. Article 3 describes the Judicial Branch and how the Judicial system includes one supreme court. When there is a case that is really important and they cannot agree upon a single decision, then the case is passed on to the supreme court.
The film titled, “The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter”, looks at the roles of women during and after World War II within the U.S. The film interviews five women who had experienced the World War II effects in the U.S, two who were Caucasian and three who were African American. These five women, who were among the millions of women recruited into skilled male-oriented jobs during World War II, shared insight into how women were treated, viewed and mainly controlled. Along with the interviews are clips from U.S. government propaganda films, news reports from the media, March of Time films, and newspaper stories, all depicting how women are to take "the men’s" places to keep up with industrial production, while reassured that their

The Judicial Branch is the last branch of our government. The Judicial Branch’s main job is to explain or interpret the laws. The head of the Judicial Branch is the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is the highest court. A total of 91 district courts and 12 appeal courts report to the Supreme Court. The leader is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The members of the Judicial Branch are appointed by the President and approved by the Senate. In the Supreme Court, there are nine associate justices. The nine associate justices serve for
The Judicial branch is made up of the Supreme Court and other minor federal courts. The Supreme Court intents the law. Some powers they have are interpreting the Constitution, reviewing laws, and deciding cases involving states' rights. The Judicial branch can declare executive actions unconstitutional. The can also say that acts of congress are unconstitutional. In article three of the constitution it establishes the Supreme Court as the highest Judicial Power. People in the Judicial branch get chosen different than in the legislative and Executive branch, in those branches there chosen by the people. While in the Judicial branch members are appointed by the President and confirmed by the
Constitution, and “appoints federal judges by advice and consent of the Senate” (SITE, p.). The judicial branch is comprised of the Federal, District, and Appeals Courts, which judge cases concerning federal law, but the Supreme Court decides if the law agrees with the U.S. Constitution. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080521155230AAz04SP
The US Senate represents the upper chamber that is associated with the legislative branch. It forms the federal government in the country. In the actual sense, it is considered to be quite a powerful body when compared to the lower house that is the House of Representatives. The Senate is composed of 100 members. Each state in the country is represented by two senators regardless of the populace of the state. By giving them the power to make decisions and pass laws that regulate in different areas including their economies, federalism encourages creativity which can lead to better economic management and growth.
The powers of the judicial branch rest in the courts, which decide arguments about the meaning of laws, how they are applied, and whether they violate the Constitution. The latter power is known as judicial review and it is this process that the judiciary uses to provide checks and balances on the legislative and executive branches. However, judicial review is not an explicit power given to the courts, but it is an implied power. The judicial branch is established in Article III of the Constitution. The judicial branch consists of nine justices, including a chief justice, appointed for life terms by the president with the consent of the Senate. The court also serves as a trial court in cases involving foreign ambassadors, ministers, and consuls, and in cases where a U.S. state is a party.
The Senate and House of Representatives both need to be on the same page. No bill will be passed if there is a disagreement between the two. However, they both have different abilities. For example, the House initiates revenue bills and can implement impeachment procedure which the Senate cannot do. The Senate can approve treaties and can provide insight to the President’s actions. It seems as though the Senate has more weight, being casually called the “upper” house, and the House of Representatives called the “lower” house.
Court which is consisted of nine justices. The judicial branch decides on the meanings of the laws and whether laws break the rules of the constitution. The judicial checks on executive and legislative. The judicial can check executive by declaring executive actions unconstitutional and one example of a federal court in Pennsylvania declared aspects of President Obama’s executive actions on immigration policy unconstitutional. The judicial can also check on legislative branch by declaring acts of Congress unconstitutional. One example is
All citizens in every city, country, province, state, or other nation tend to have differing opinions about the way a government works or should work. We do not agree with each other in these aspects nor do we agree with the decisions our government makes in the end. Yet, we seem perfectly happy with our system because that is just the way it is and has been for centuries. However, it is interesting to visualize a masked man, which we will soon identify as V, establishing vigilante justice by undoing a reputable yet corrupt government, in hopes of a creating a new start for the people in his country.
The Senate needs to ratify all laws by a two-third vote. The vice president who is the head of the Senate is not permitted to vote, but in case of a tie he is allowed to. The House of Representatives is made of 435 representatives, each is elected by his state and serve two years. The number of representatives depends on the state population. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate elect their own leaders; the part that controls the house, is called the majority leader while the other is called the minority leader.
