In my opinion, this planner is a very accurate representation of what Simon’s day would consist of on a regular basis. Simon is a regular high school student with an irregular life. When a popular boy finds out that Simon is gay through reading his emails with another unknown student, he blackmails him. Martin, a very well-known person in their high school, took screenshots of the emails and says that he will tell people that Simon is gay, unless Simon helps him get a girl. In the book, the hardship of being gay in Georgia is presented to the reader. There are a scarce amount of gay students in Simon’s high school which is why Simon doesn’t want everyone to know his secret. The planner shows Simon emailing another gay student at
While I may have been enamored of this new teacher, the quiet insults started almost immediately. I heard someone say, “What a fruit,” from the back of the room, loud enough for the class to hear, but just quiet enough for the teacher to be unaware of the declaration against his manhood. It didn’t help that Mr. Duncan was wearing a large tote bag to carry his books which amounted to a large handbag. Some students sniggered that they would be talking to their parents and getting out of the class immediately before Duncan’s gayness rubbed off on them. However cruel the other students were being, it all stopped when Duncan opened his mouth.

In the story, Blair asked Nate to come to her hotel; Nate’s thought to that was, “Meaning the three Cs: champagne, caviar, and condoms” (von Ziegesar, 42). Later in the story, a character named Jenny, who is a fourteen year old girl, purposely started doing badly in school and leaked nude photos of her so she would be able to go to boarding school (von Ziegesar, 148). She wanted to go to boarding school because the girl she idolizes, Serena van der Woodsen, went to boarding school once (von Ziegesar, 17). This book is full of reasons to be challenged.

In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, every character has its own collection of distinct traits. Ralph is a leader, he is caring and smart. Jack is angry, power-hungry, and easily becomes a savage. Simon is a caring, religious, and abstract character. Simon is a more complicated character, he possesses some pronounced traits; he is kind, for example.
In “Two Boys Kissing, ” David Levithan shares the stories of seven teenagers who are all gay, and the experiences they have while coming to terms with it. Even though three of the main characters have different stories and are at different stages their everyday experiences are influenced by gender as a process, the social construction of gender, and oppression. These three concepts shape and influence the stories shared in this book, but the main theme stands true and that is to be proud of who you are as a person and an individual no matter who that may be.
Gay is a gifted mechanic who can make any vehicle run. Steinbeck allows for most of his characters to posses a double-sided appeal. All of the boys lead relatively normal lives by Cannery standards, but can be seen in two different lights. On one hand they are do-gooders, holy-men, martyrs, the type one would always want on their side. On the other hand, with their refined manipulative abilities, they can be perceived as bullies, bottom-feeders, and lowlifes. They are the instigators and problem-solvers; the straight-men and the comic reliefs; the villains and the heroes. With any role they play, they proceed to play the opposite.

The principle asks each of the students to write a one-page paper on who they think they are. As the day progresses, we see the teens begin to bond with each other and find out about each other and themselves.

Moreover, Mary evolves that story and explains to her grandmother, Mrs. Tilford, that she saw the two women kissing through the keyhole in the door. Mary knew the power that her grandmother had over the school. Mrs. Tilford is one of the main financial contributors to the school. She is also a wealthy, influential older woman who is well respected throughout the town. But, because of her adolescence, Mary did not know the underlying effects of telling the lie to such a powerful person within the community. Although Karen and Martha never committed the act they were accused of, the lie spreads all over the town and ultimately results in the closing of the school and ruining their lives.
Olive quickly gains popularity when most of the student body witnesses, from the other side of the door, her having sex at a party with a boy from school. In the words of the philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, “Our greatest evils flow from ourselves.” In other words, humans harbor an ever present looming evil nature within themselves. Evil is the force in nature that governs and gives rise to wickedness and sin, or the wicked or immoral part of someone. This concept of inner evil rising to the surface permeates William Golding’s dystopian novel Lord of the Flies, that evil exists in every human, proven through the characterization of the marooned boys. There is foreshadowing of the dangers of the boys’ inner immorality from one of the boys, Simon. As the novel progresses, evil starts asserts itself as the boys cast off their innocence and humanity, and turning against each other. Even the
