Since I was young I was told I was a quiet child, very mousy like who was always hiding behind her mother’s leg. I would never leave my mother's side and if I was greeted by a stranger, I would retreat from them, so I was shy. My mom would encourage me to go and say hi to others or play with a child that asked me to join in a game. I would at times play with them, but I would always go back to my mom when I had enough playing or was stressed. While I am comfortable to explore and later going to my mom when I want to be safe, I was avoidance of others and never felt comfortable, but I did have fun when I was comfortable.

P.R. is a 34 year-old male from Guatemala who went to a lake for cliff diving. He dove off of a cliff 20 feet from the water, hitting a rock, and fractured his neck at C6. This left P.R. as an incomplete quadriplegic, with partial gross movement of his upper arms. There are many assessment processes that are used to identify substance abuse as well as many other disorders that are addictive. These processes include the SBIRT, AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test), NIDAMED, CAGE AID (which is used frequently within the counseling foundation), AUDIT-C, and also the DAST-10 which is an assessment process used to evaluate drug abuse within the patients. These are many different processes that are currently used to identify these addictions in clients. The activity of identifying these processes can be over a period of time or can be evaluated in that same day or after the evaluation is completed.

Mr. Landaverde reported that he went to the doctor in August 2016 for a regular checkup. Mr. Landaverde stated that he normally goes to the doctor every six months. Mr. Landaverde reported that he has never been hospitalized in the past. Mr. Landaverde reported that he does not have any emotional or psychiatric problems. Mr. Landaverde stated that he has never been to counseling. He stated to the best of his recollections, neither one of his parents have ever suffered from a substance related disorder.

Riverdale, Georgia has an estimated population of 15,537 residents (2013 census). While part of the Atlanta metropolitan area, many residents enjoy Riverdale, Georgia’s small town charms. Citizens of Riverdale enjoy the city’s public parks, shopping district and many cultural stores. Problems with substance abuse and alcohol addiction are prevalent in this area of the state. Notable drugs of abuse for residents of Riverdale, Georgia include marijuana, alcohol and methamphetamine.

Each 16 bed facility houses female patients with substance use disorders who may also have co-occurring mental health disorders. The primary focus of treatment is on substance use at three of the four sites. One house is a co-occurring disorder focus house. The women are mothers who either have their children under age 5 placed there, they are awaiting placement, are pregnant, or are trying to regain custody of their children. All of these conditions may apply to one mother.

Cesar Sanchez is a 61 year old Hispanic male that was admitted to RGSC on 07/12/1982. He has speech and gait disturbance, hearing and vision impairment; he is non-verbal but appears to understand English. He can communicate his needs with body gestures and pointing to items. He is dependent for all ADL’s and ambulation he is at high risk for falls; his adaptive equipment consist of Lift vest to assist with ambulation; wears an elastic knee brace and AFO brace to left leg, shower chair, bed sensor, chair sensor and wheelchair for long distances.; Cesar has history of patellar (left) and L2 fractures.

The additional information that would be beneficial to be aware of would be Kesha’s family history, past history of substance abuse, and childhood/adolescent history. By obtaining Kesha’s family history information is important is due to seeing if there are mental disorders that run in the family, such as depression, anxiety, etc. This will make Kesha’s diagnoses easier to create and I will be able to provide her with information about the disorders, the treatments administered for each concern, and any questions I can answer for Kesha.

The designing used in the addiction scenario would be a double-blind, randomized, study of the effects of Antaquil vs placebo in minimizing the cravings of individuals suffering from alcohol dependence. Participants for the study should meet the DSM-V criteria for alcohol dependence and have recently entered into treatment. Certain medical and psychotic conditions along with any current substance use will disqualify the individual from participation. To secure that the sample is random, several outpatient clinics should be used to recruit the participants, a computer randomization program will then be used to ensure that each member of the qualifying population has an equal possibility of being chosen. This essay is based on a client Ibrahim (30 year old, male) who is currently living with his three siblings with their biological father and step mother. The client has a history of juvenile delinquency with outrageous behavior. Due the suspensions from the school, he has a low academic performance. Currently, he is jobless due to abusing drugs and low academic performance, which made him feel depressed. The purpose of the essay is to evaluate the clients’ problems with the help of consistency theory and understand the possible neurological underpinnings that may have occurred in his brain. Also recommend possible interventions that are most fitting for client.
