Heroes/heroines are people that are brave and not only think about themselves but others as well, putting other people's lives before their own, making them act out of pure kindness to make a change to this world. One of my heroes is Sir Edmund Hillary. Hillary was an expert mountain climber. He was chosen to battle the tough terrains of MT Everest in Nepal, and he made it to where no man had ever set foot before. With the help of Tenzing Norgay in 1953, Hillary made it to the summit of Everest, it was a big accomplishment that deserved attention. Edmund Hillary was knighted by the Queen soon after his conquering of MT Everest, and his name was changed to Sir Edmund Hillary.
Sir Edmund Hillary was a brave, persistent hero, but there are plenty
Heroes come in different shapes, sizes, and looks. Maybe someone you saw on the street one day was heroic for saving someone’s life in a car accident. A hero to me is someone who can be brave in situations that aren’t so safe, and take a risk to make sure everyone is okay, no matter who
A hero is someone who is admired and valued for their courage, outstanding achievements, and noble qualities. A hero to one person may not be a hero to another. I strongly agree with this definition for a hero to a person is not always a hero to others. In saying this, my hero is Isabelle Bruce Reid because she was the first female to qualify in Australia as a veterinarian. To me, Isabelle Reid was a name in history who changed the world, is valued and is a great role model.
Heroes come in all sizes, shapes, genders, and backgrounds. Heroes can be defined by many different standards and are people of great character, who spend their lives doing what they can to help others in need. Everyone has his or her favorite hero, my favorite hero is one that is little known but to me is a true inspiration. My hero is Rolf Benirschke. He is my hero for the courage, inspiration, and help that his words provided me when I was recovering from lifesaving surgery.
A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities, according to Dictionary.com. Adam Brown and his wife, Kelley Brown, dealt with a broad spectrum of difficulties in their relationship that most people never have to face in their lifetime. Though they faced their fair share of hardships, Kelley and Adam overcame each one and became heroes in the novel, Fearless, by Eric Blehm. Kelley was a true hero from the moment she met Adam Brown. After falling in love with him, Kelley found out that Adam had a drug problem that he was working to overcome.
A hero can be like Martin Luther King Jr, a person who fought for people's right. These kinds of heroes put others needs in front of their own needs so the end result will be for the greater good for everyone. These heroes stride for a better world so humankind can live in peace and harmony. They are self-sacrificing
A hero is someone who is recognized as determined, patient, and most of all, courageous. In I Am Legend by Richard Matheson , Robert Neville is the last man standing after a vampire plague hits and erases the human race. He does whatever possible everyday to try and stay alive, and investigates to try and figure out the cause of the plague, and maybe find hope for the future. In 1984 by George Orwell, Winston Smith is one of the last people in Oceania that isn’t brainwashed by the tyrannical government they are under. He rebels against the government by writing in his diary and having a secret relationship with a woman by the name of Julia. Between
Heroes are selfless and put others before themselves in dangerous situations. Such as on 9/11, when a call was given out for boats to come rescue people off the island of Manhattan, where the terror attacks happened, as pictured in “Boatlift” Vincent Ardillo after hearing the news told his wife, “I gotta do something.” This represents heroism because Ardillo is not thinking of how he will be impacted, but rather of the people who need help, as many other people with access to a boat did as well. Also, Ardillo could have stayed home and been safe, but chose to sacrifice his well being and comfort for others. Another hero would be Clara Barton, the founder of the Red Cross, as Barton declared in a Civil War speech “I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I can stand and feed and nurse them.” Barton distinguishes she could be hurt while helping the soldiers, however she does not dwell on the fact, deciding instead to carry on and make a difference despite the threat to health. This is heroic because Barton is putting others who cannot care for themselves and acknowledges she could be hurt, but does not let that get in the way of her reaching her goals. To sum up, heroes are everyday people who go out of their way to help others in need without the thought of payment.
He or she is someone who risks his life, family or wealth to save his country, society or fellow human beings from danger, internal or external enemy, someone who puts the interests of others before his or her own."(Koigi wa Wamwere). Wamwere enlighted the same points what I also consider an important point of what a true/real hero is.You don't need to go on a journey, or get trained, or get a reward. A hero doesn't need an award. The example of a true hero is Martin Luther king . He sacrificed his home and his family's safety for a better world for African
Beowulf; a man whose greatness begun when he saved an entire kingdom from the clutches of the vile monster Grendel. Beowulf was known for countlessly putting his body and his life on the line to save his people. His courage and determination is what kept his legacy alive for all of these years. Not only that, but the respect he had for the people around him made him a remembered warrior as well. That’s what I think makes a hero. Being determined to get a job done, having the courage to step in and complete that job, and having enough respect for your people to still obey their wishes despite your apparent fame. The hero I will be writing about is the fictional Marvel Comics character known as the Black Panther (real name T’Challa). He and Beowulf
Have you ever met a hero? Someone who inspires you with their actions. Heroes are people who impact others positively. Beowulf in the adventure short Beowulf by Robert Nye is described as a warrior. That makes him a hero because a warrior is a brave fighter which he proves he is by defeating Grendel and his mother. Similarly, Evita Peron in the online biography Eva Peron by Biogrphy.com editors is written as a person who used the power she had to fight for women's suffrage as well as changing the lives of the poor. Beowulf and Evita are heroes in their own special way furthermore, heroes won’t always have the same traits which doesn’t make them any less of a hero.
A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, and/or noble qualities. A hero doesn’t have to be a fictional character. Heroes can be found in the real world too. CNN Hero of 2014, Chad Pregracke is known as a hero. This is because he is highly self sacrificing when it comes down to keeping the Earth clean. Odysseus, from the epic poem “The Odyssey”, is known as a hero also. The reasoning behind this is because on his way back home to Ithaca, he overcomes many obstacles and shows many traits while doing this. Chad Pregracke and Odysseus both display a number of heroic qualities.
Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives can be a hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities. Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country. Even a parent can be a hero to his or her child by leading them in the right direction. All teachers are heroes when they make it their job to teach a child anything that will help them in life. You don’t have to go to great lengths by risking your life to make a difference in someone else’s life.
What is a hero to you? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a hero is someone who is greatly admired for their qualities or actions. A hero does not have to be famous or have extraordinary powers. A new day brings a new hero and as times change, so does the hero. For the majority of people, a hero is a person who makes a difference with an insignificant action, but yet, it has a tremendous impact in their life. That hero in my life, is Dr. Greg Forbes.
“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” (Campbell 1). When we think of heroes most of us think of movie stars or professional athletes, but it’s not always about your popularity or talent it can also be about how you help society. What I think make a great hero is someone who is able to overcome his or her obstacles in life, is highly motivated, and has plenty of bravery.
Another idea of a hero was when Gandhi had stood up for his country; India. “Gandhi led nationwide campaigns to ease poverty, expand women's rights, and build religious and ethnic amity” plus he had “spent a number of years in jail in both South Africa and India”. In other words Gandhi never gave up showing everyone how India should be independent. Gandhi had stood out his way by leading marches to declare independence. Gandhi had been admired for his bravery (when he was thrown in jail a few times), his confidence (he never showed any sign of weakness) and perseverance (he had never gave up).
