Sir Richard Branson is strong in all three of the essential management skills. From the standpoint of technical skills, started the business from the ground up, so he had to develop strong technical skills to make his business successful. He has the conceptual skills to be able to have a far-reaching vision for a huge business empire and to look at the market and see what gaps his companies can fill. Additionally, his human skills are quite impressive, with his strong focus on employee happiness, customer satisfaction, and family.
Sir Richard Branson would fall under the behaviorism view of management, rather than the classical view. Sir Richard can be related to Munsterberg, as he took the time to try and find out what conditions were

I’ve always preferred to be able to work on a project without having to worry about checking with someone every time I need to do something. I like that there is so much freedom to create and innovate. I do think that some people might be bothered by how willing Sir Richard is to take risks, especially people with a high level of uncertainty avoidance, but I personally like his attitude of trying things that people think are impossible. I think he does a good job of connecting those under him to his brand. He’s a leader who inspires and who makes people believe they’re part of something bigger than themselves.
I think that although he may be unconventional at times, Sir Richard Branson is an excellent leader, and I hope to emulate many of his leadership traits. I honestly felt like I learned a lot about leadership success while looking into how he runs his business. A lot of it reinforced lessons from the course, but it was nice seeing a real-world example of how those principles are being applied on a daily basis. I am glad I selected him as my case study for this class and I would feel honored if I ever got to meet him or have him as a manager. References:

From the summit meeting that occurred between the 1st and 2nd of January, the majority opinion among those in attendance was the continuation of the Great Leaps Westward, finishing it from the point it originally started almost a year earlier. With the Remnants beginning to become an important player in the Ryanite war effort, they started to work at the forefront in the assisting of the RGA and their allies’ goals. As a result of their cooperation, should the dubbed ‘Second Great Leaps Westward’ be deemed a success like the first one, the RGA’s most important allies will be given significant rewards. In the case of the Dwellers, it meant new Dweller cities to be added to their fledgling Coalition; for the Republic and Confederation, the complete fulfillment of a central tenet within the Catholic School Conservationist Movement, which entailed the westward expansion of the Children’s Paradise and the prosperity that comes with it. Similar rewards were also given to its other allies as well.
Effective leaders opt to implement a specific type of leadership style as a result of their personalities and job experiences, and apply it to their organizational structure. However, that particular type of leadership style a leader utilizes may not apply to every job situation (Peak et al., 2010). In order to be an effective leader, an individual must acquire the three basic leadership skills and they are as follows: (1) human relations; (2) conceptual skills; and (3) technical skills (Haberfeld, 2013). Additionally, a skillful leader must also be proficient in motivating, communicating, and problem solving (Hess & Orthmann, 2012).

I read the book, “First, Break All The Rules: What The World’s Greatest Managers Do Differently” written by Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman. The book explains their views and how they hang onto their gifted workers. You should consider reading this book if you are in management. Marcus and Curt describe the myths of normal management thinking. Some of the concepts that the two describe are people are capable of almost anything, treat others as you like to be treated, and a manager’s role is diminishing in today’s economy. The authors write, “Great managers are revolutionaries." ”This book will take you inside the minds of these managers to explain why they have toppled conventional wisdom and reveal the new truths they have forged in its place.”
His successful strategy and operating talents helped Delta to become one of the best airlines companies.
For this discussion I chose to focus on chapter 2: mental health problems in prison. I made this decision mainly because this is a topic that also influences inmates behavior on the outside, and significantly contributes to the choices they make which can inevitably land them behind bars. I also believe that mental illnesses can easily develop while an offender is serving time, even if they have no history of being affected. Mental illnesses involve trouble coping with highly stressful situations (very common in a jail or prison environment) and life in general. "Such difficulties often manifest themselves in terms of low self-esteem, self-neglect, alienation, and social isolation".
Sir Richard Branson's model is a personification model of Virginia brand and explains it using his life when he was young. He uses both his life and Virginia brand to elaborate his leadership skills which is not based on any professional skills. Over the years, he is seen to recruit the best managers. A few traits and values that made Jeff Skilling an effective leader were charisma, intelligence, and inspiration. Although there were many more traits and values that helped Skilling to be an effective leader, it is these three that I believe contributed the most to his effectiveness as the CEO and leader of Enron.
Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group has been a household name in the United Kingdom for over twenty years. He is well respected in the business world. He is the founder of the Virgin Group, which is known for many different things such as cell phones, record labels, airlines and many more. “Branson is also known for his unique character and leadership styles, one who is not afraid to take risks, and believes that people are the foundation to his company's success. If I were to first characterize his leadership style I would say he is definitely a democratic leader. He truly feels that getting other peoples input and listening to what
Communication is the foundation of all contact and involves much more than just words being spoken. The skills of a good communicator must be practiced and developed with relative frequency. Participants in a high-quality communication conversation are engaged in choosing a communication channel, sending clear messages, listening actively, and understanding others’ responses. When considering the one-way communication that occurs in media through various artists and communication professionals, we must recognize the importance of varying communication approaches.
The development topic of empathy is shown in Chapter Two. Empathy is the ability to understand the emotions and concerns of another person. In this chapter Maya describes a time when she was five and her Uncle Willie was not using his cane and trying to stand up straight as two travelers were in the store. In the book Maya explains how her uncle is tired of being disabled and just for that moment he wanted to appear normal. Maya narrates how she, “understood and felt closer to him at that moment than ever before”. Maya is in the psychological development of early childhood and has started to develop moral emotions from her increase in social experiences between her family and the customers of the store. Maya at the age of five comprehends

According to Lewin (1951) and White & Lippit (1960), there are three prevalent management behavior styles: Authoritarian, democratic and laissez-fare (Cherry,
One of the biggest lessons learned from this course is that to be an effective leader, you must have a diverse skillset. I’m not sure if there is any one magical component or characteristic in being a great leader. One influence during my review of the literature was that; although easier for some, I see leadership as something we must continually improve upon. This is in contrast to my belief during my first day of class, when I thought leaders just
“He that would govern others must first master himself”. Personal skills form one of the bases of great management skills. It can be subdivided into the following categories:
