Many young girl are forced to marry at a young age. Girl are married at a young age because they are uneducated. It is important to fix this problem quickly because children brides are two time more likely to be beaten by their husband. Also a mother that is at the age lower than 18 their infant is 60% higher risk of dying then of a mother that is 19. The last thing is childbirth is the leading cause of death in young women. This organization has studied what child marriage has been done in Niger to stop, and also the things that didn’t work. Things that didn’t work were trying to raise the legal age to marry to age 18, however this didn’t work because the family continue to force their daughters to marry young. Sometime at the age of 8 of 9. They have also tried using art, media, and pop culture to inspire people and to get people’s attention. The last thing that they tried was trying to educate girls about health. They have learned that the number one thing that leads to children marriage is children that the girls are not educated. Mary Haydock, now formally known as Mary Reibey was born on the 12th May 1777 (source 1) and was raised by her grandmother after both her parents died when Mary was of a young age. Mary was convicted of horse stealing at the age of 13 and was to be sent to Australia for seven years (source 1). Being sent away from her family and in particular her grandmother, meant that Mary was alone and isolated from the people that she would have felt most comfortable around. This lack of belongingness may have caused Mary Reibey depression which was common for convicts of such a young age.
