S00N66L1 50805121215! "Rin are you fucking stupid?! You can't just buy a slave!" "What? Yes I can. There’s a shop right over there. See look, limited time offer only, buy one get one slave free." Said Rin, pointing towards a cheerful sign outside of a stone building. "Oh my god Rin they aren’t animals! They’re people just like you." Mari exclaimed, ashamed of her friend’s idea. "Well technically Mari, they are considered property.” Replied Rin, his words filled with facts, given the legal term for slave, although still morally wrong. A small grin began at corners of his mouth. "Whatever. Don't blame me when this country bans slavery and you're sent to jail because you bought one." Said Mari, shaking her head. "Is Rin gonna own …show more content…
Hahahaha!" - Guard 2 ‘......This is my hell.’ 'This is the life of a slave. Tortured and starved, just to be sold to another. We’re treated like insects. Once you're labeled a slave, you aren't a human anymore. Why, god why? Why couldn't I have died in battle with my comrades. Why do I have to suffer like this, to not die a warrior’s death. Although I shouldn’t complain, I haven't had the worst of it. Darkness covers the room except the small light coming from small barred windows and a few torches on the wall. All around me, strewn about in these cells are people who have lost hope.’ ‘These people, either sold or captured for slavery, are lifeless. Hunger shown on their bony bodies. Excrement and filth surround us because we’re treated like animals, and the smell. The smell of horrible permeating death. These people have been suffering for ages, to be sold as property. Hardly being fed because these cheap bastards don't want to spend even a few extra copper coins on food. If only we had a smart slave merchant, who knew that feeding and cleaning us could make our value go up by a lot more. But no, these bastards don't know logic. They’re only corrupted by greed and …show more content…
The first person who came in, whose name I think is 'Rin?’ was a big fellow, fat, and average height. He had black curly hair and wore a pair of glasses, something I've only seen nobles wear. Behind those glasses were a black pair of eyes that seemed like a never ending void. His facial expressions were rather emotionless, but he had a sinister smile. Standing behind him was a young girl around the same age, but that’s about as far as their similarities lie. They’re almost complete opposites, like yin and yang. I could tell she was uncomfortable seeing all of us within these cells, and I couldn’t blame her. Although she was short and fragile in appearance, she seemed very grounded and strong. She had short sandy colored hair and green eyes. Her name is 'Mari,' I believe. Beside her stood a man called 'Kai?' He was thin and had a bit darker skin than the other two. His black hair that was tied up into a small knot on top of his head. A cloth, that I've seen some warriors wear around their heads, was on Kai’s head as well. He seemed very light on his feet and ready to fight within a moments notice. They all wore clothing I've never seen before and acted a little strange from what I’ve seen. Were they foreigners? 'Shit they must be some young nobles to have such expensive looking clothing and equipment. Why did I say shit? Well most young nobles are trouble. They are spoiled brats who treat their servants
The authors are concerning the increase the number of human trafficking with approximately twenty-seven million people in bondage. In fact, more than twice as many people are in bondage in the world today than were taken from Africa during the entire 350 years of the Atlantic slave trade. And it is also one of most third profitable criminal of all the time in humanity’s history; after dealing drug and weapons. This is the reason why Bales and Soodalter say today’s slavery is the serious crime that all people should be aware of. I was shocked. You know that moment when you read something but you have to reread it because you can’t even imagine that is true? It happened to me when I read chapter 1 of SND. The numbers of human trafficking were incredible, we are talking about twenty-seven million people who are in slave in all over the world, people who cannot walk away, people who
As Dana soon discovers, the reality of slavery is even more disturbing than its portrayal in books, movies, and television programs. Before her journey into the past, Dana called the temp agency where she worked a "slave market," even though "the people who ran it couldn't have cared less whether or not you showed up to do the work they offered."
Dana realizes pretty quickly that the handwork, rape and brutal punishments that slaves face are far worse than anything she could
They would have bets of challenges with one of their enslaved people and say if the slave was to win they would be a free man. These challenges would be unappealing and cause some sort of discomfort until it got to the point where the enslaved person would deny the challenge and shun the idea of
The treatment slaves had to involuntarily endure
Starting from a slave’s birth, this cruel process leads to a continuous cycle of abuse, neglect, and inhumane treatment. To some extent, slave holders succeed because they keep most slaves so concerned with survival that they have no time or energy to consider freedom. This is particularly true for plantation slaves where the conditions of slave life are the most difficult and challenging. However, slave holders fail to realize the damage they inadvertently inflict on themselves by upholding slavery and enforcing these austere laws and attitudes.
kin group might wish to simply marry the acquired girl off in the normal way and receive bridewealth for her” (Kpoyoff) A woman slave can somewhat be compared to the practice that was followed in early history when women were given off to be married. They hold most of the same principles and rules, and most of the times
The discussion with the slave, as it has been pointed out, recalls the discussion between
Through the course of history, whenever people hear the word “slaves”, they imagine a long period of hate, torture, ignorance, and cruelty. The term slaves mostly refers to the group of people that today are know as Africans. During these harsh times some slaves kept the detailed memories of their daily suffering and later told them to help create their narratives. In the Classic Slave Narratives the hardships of four slaves who today we remember as Mary Prince, Frederick Douglass, Gustavus Vassa, and last but not least Harriet Jacobs, are descriptively told. Experiences varied based on where the slave was located or their gender. Slaves would be treated as objects, rather than human beings, they were someone’s possession. In The Classic Slave
The atrocities of slavery know no bounds. Its devices leave lives ruined families pulled apart and countless people dead. Yet many looked away or accepted it as a necessary part of society, even claiming it was beneficial to all. The only way this logic works is if the slaves are seen as less than human, people who cannot be trusted to take care of themselves. In Toni Morrison’s Beloved the consequences of a lifetime of slavery are examined. Paul D and seethe, two former slaves have experienced the worst slavery has to offer. Under their original master, Mr. Garner the slaves were treated like humans. They were encouraged to think for themselves and make their own decisions. However, upon the death of Mr. Garner all of that changes. Under
“The slaver, bringing up the rear, came forward with his lash. At-mun cringed as he felt it,
Society’s systematic dehumanization of slaves claims that their lives are not their own, but rather belong to their oppressors. For instance, Jacobs’s cousin Benjamin decides to escape from his masters who equate him and his people to “dogs, […] foot-balls, cattle, [and] everything that [is] mean” and taunts them by saying, “Let them bring me back. We don’t die but once” (27). By metaphorically comparing slaves to dogs and pieces of property, he reveals how little slave owners care about their charges. Rather than remaining under the control of such oppression, Benjamin decides to live and die on his own terms at the risk of capture and punishment, because
My first observation of these people is that they do not care for the value of riches. They disregard precious metals of what we constantly fight over, and instead, discard them to
I watched him as he walked home, I watched him as he talked to his friends in such a polite manner, but I also watched as the girl who confessed to him just yesterday was gasping for air as her warm blood drained from her neck, almost like water pouring out of a running faucet.. oh, was that a bit too weird? I'm sure it'll be better if I explained a little.. I just have a really bad habit of hurting people when they try to come between me and the one I love.. Now, Back to crazy!
