Even in a small town, there is a variety of art everywhere you look. Some art is more unique and interesting than others, which is one of the many reasons why I love our small town. The art in this community has a special place in my life because I have grown up in this area; Humphrey’s county was and always will be my childhood. Although many things in Humphrey’s County interest me, some tend to fascinate me more than others. The three pieces of art that interest me the most in this community are Paint Rock, Cherry Bottom, and the train at the City Hall. Paint Rock, a three-dimensional piece of art, is very well known in my community; many people go every year to paint their name or draw on not only the rock, but the road as well. The focal …show more content…
The view, which consist of a huge field and a beautiful background full of trees and houses on a hill, is miraculous. Cherry Bottom is one of God’s many beautiful creations and will make you realize the value of the community you live in. The art in this place is made by the field and the implied line between the field and the trees. The trees take your attention away from the field, but when you look at the trees and field as a whole, it is absolutely stunning. This area is not for sale; it holds a special spot in my community. I am interested in it because it is so astonishing and shows that we do have an alluring community, even though some parts may not be so fascinating. Cherry Bottom is important because it is another factor that helps up make the community that we live in and love. However, this piece of art is not uncommon, but it still makes up a great view in our …show more content…
This train car represents the Waverly train wreck of 1978. This wreck consisted of an explosion and massive fire. A derailed tank car loaded with 2,000 gallons of propane exploded in "a ball of fire", hurling burning bodies into the air and setting downtown Waverly afire. Art with a history is the best kind of art. This piece of art is definitely not for sale, and probably never will be. It marks a day in history; in fact, one that many will never forget. The train car is important in my community because it represents the deaths of many loved ones on the sad day of 1978. The train is one of my many favorite sites because it has a meaning behind it and is held close to many people’s hearts that lost their relatives and loved ones in the unpredictable explosion. In this case, I believe that this piece of art is unique. Many trains explode, but not in Waverly, Tennessee. This terrible accident will forever be

It must have been 13 years or so since I have been to the art museum, back in elementary school, on a one of a kind field trip. 13 years is way too long to have been away from the art museum, as my experience this year reminded me that. It was a beautiful, sunny October day, although it felt like July, and it was an even better day to talk a walk through the vast, mesmerizing pieces of art that the museum has to offer. The North Carolina Museum of Art provides an abundance of artwork from various time periods, cultures, and one can find art anywhere from Egyptian, to classical, to modern and contemporary art. The artwork that the museum provides not only displays an abundance of artwork, but
On Saturday, November 4th, I visited the Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado. The piece of art I decided to write about is called “A Mountain Symphony (Longs Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado)” This two-dimensional oil on canvas painting was completed in America in 1927 by Sven Birger Sandzén. This painting has not been on public view since 1927 and is located in the Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado. It was a “Free Day” at the museum, so I decided to attend by myself. I was unable to get a picture of myself in front of the work of art I decided to write about, but I did get several pictures of the artwork and a picture of myself with the “Free Day” sticker. I decided to write about this work of art because it was the only piece in the museum that really stood out to me and really caught my attention. A Mountain Symphony is a lively, beautiful landscape painting with a vibrant pallet filled with luminosity and broad brushstrokes. The sculptural quality of the paint surface reflect the influence of turn-of-the century modernist techniques. The balance of color and light brings happiness and joy to the viewer.
The St. Louis Art Museum has many intriguing pieces of artwork, but my eyes seemed to navigate towards Thomas Cole’s pieces. Research has shown that Thomas Cole was best known for his landscape art, but through the portal of America’s wilderness and it’s association of God. Nature, human life, and mortality were the key viewpoints
Twin City is a little city with big history. Twin city began with two towns that merged
The aim and intentions of this essay is to compare and contrast how the three artists (Michelle Lougee, Andy Goldsworthy, and Hermannsburg Potters) use their materials to communicate ideas about the natural environment.
My minor insight is New York City as the financial capital of the world. New York’s thriving economy is one of the main reasons that it is a global metropolis. Not only is NYC an economic capital, but it is also a cultural capital of both the United States, and the world. NYC is made up of millions of immigrants (about 36% of the total population) who have been able to assimilate into the American lifestyle, and act as a resource for the growth of our economy. NYC’s diversity has benefited our city by producing talented, hard-working citizens, which can provide an example for many other cities around the globe. New York’s cultural identity has helped shape our city, by allowing
Suburbia is a development that has flourished into a dominant feature of American life. Levitt and Sons built giant “Levittown” suburbs in the middle of the twentieth century. These residential communities on the outskirts of cities had many positive impacts on American lifestyles. The homes were cheap and sold fast to families looking for a safe place to live. People also moved to the suburbs because it was effortless to drive from the suburbs into town on the highways.
When you walk into the fair from the entrance you can see the dirt in the air. The smell of the popcorn is like a peaceful smell. The sound of tractors is loud and it kind of sounds like a buzzing bee. The feel of the dust on my face makes me feel sticky. Also, the taste of my walking taco is delicious every bite. I had to throw the football into 3 hoops and I missed. I was mad because if I got all 3 footballs in the 3 hoops I would’ve got a football jersey! I was able to spend time with my best friend Brylan and his family. Brylans little brother won a giant aired up baseball bat and kept on hitting us with it. The State Fair is so much better than tulip time because at the State Fair there is a lot more
When I attend the Oklahoma Art Museum this morning, I was completely blown away by the different styles, technique, and artistic abilities that artist have. Art can come in many forms and can involve many different things. From paintings, sculptures, and abstract pieces of the modern world. Along with my visit, I got to experience a new collection of blown glass that was absolute remarkable. As I walked though the museum, it was as I walked though time and got to see how each period’s art changed throughout time. From the different shades of color to the different types of technique that filled the halls of the Oklahoma City Art Museum, each piece was genuine in its own way. I was starstruck as I witnessed Lowell Nesbitt’s Parrot Tulip, Richard Diebenkorn’s Albuquerque, and Dale Chihuly’s blown glass.
Music is an expressive language of culture which tells a story, reveal ideas, offers various opinions and share emotions of life's experiences. Music is a unique identity of a particular culture. Different cultures have different ranges of music. Music creates and shapes culture and it is true for vice-versa. There is a circular relationship. In the South, it is treated as a heritage and has a great history of evolving on a large platform. Music ties generations together. Hillbilly music and Blues music were the lifelines of people in the South. This music reflects the American Culture of patriotism and era of World War II. There is a great story related to hillbilly music’s history, image and popularity.
Art has the power to tell a story, whether it is a story of success and happiness, or one of sadness and despair. Although Ardmore is growing in many negative aspects, a beautiful sculpture such as Dale Chihuly’s glass art would have the ability to represent the southern town well and so that even those that are not interested in the art would be
On the lower Mississippi River on March 19, 1968 around 0340 the SS African collided with the Midwest Cities, a towing vessel, which was transporting two tank barges. The front barge was the Intercity no. 14 and the rear was the Intercity no. 11. Intercity no. 11 was loaded with 19,000 barrels of crude oil. The crude oil’s combustible vapors escaped during the collision and led to a serious shipboard fire on the SS African Star.
African Americans did struggle for racial inequality, conflicts and ethnic tensions throughout the civil rights movement. The challenge for geographic location was known for the south to have different laws than the north. This made for differences in racial justice and discrimination that was legalized by the Supreme Court. Many programs and groups were put in place depending on the geographic location causing upheaval, tension and violence. After reading the chapter, Rukaya, was geographic location also the real cause for desegregation to why poverty existed? Geographic locations had different reforms, approaches, laws and racial inequality pertaining to people of color and discrimination. No wonder why violence, conflicts, poverty,
Through my three years of experience in the municipal agencies; County of San Bernardino and the City of San Bernardino, I have had the chance to design a street, sewer, and storm drainage improvement projects. Not only, but my experience extended to prepare plans, project specifications, engineering estimates for several projects within the County and City of San Bernardino.
