Smalls Stepping Stone Inc. was founded in 1985 in the heart of Wilmington, Delaware by my grandmother, Clara A. Smalls. She established the business to provide an encouraging and safe haven environment for over 250 local children from age range from 8 weeks to 12 years old who were in need of childcare services. There are over 40 staff members and teachers that work for the institution full and part time. From the moment each student walks in her doors they no longer have to carry all of frustrations and struggles from their surrounding and home environment, and are able to develop life changing skills that will support and encourage them flourish and grow to their fullest potential. Throughout each stage of the child’s life at Smalls Stepping
For the classroom observation assignment I was able to observe at Stepping Stones Family Childcare and Preschool Program. I conducted observations for five hours each on the dates of September 24th and September 25th of the year 2015. This licensed home-based daycare and preschool program is located in a quiet suburban neighborhood on 4103 Bryant Street, Blasdell, New York. The facility allows for a twelve-child capacity (ages 6 weeks to 12 years with four additional school age) and is owned and founded by Kim Bannister. When I observed, there were two additional staff present. Therefore, there were a total of 3 adults and 12 children at the center when I observed. New York State Senator Marc C. Panepinto was also present on September 25th as he read to the children and toured the home. I chose this specific setting as I personally thought it would be an interesting dynamic to study how a home-based preschool program is run.

McKee, sent him to Charleston to work as a waiter, ship rigger, and sailor, with all earnings going to McKee. This arrangement continued until Smalls was 18 when he negotiated to keep all but $15 of his monthly pay, a deal which allowed Smalls to begin saving money. The savings that he accumulated were later used to purchase his wife and daughter from their owner for a sum of $800. Their son was born a few years later.

What was it about these 9 black students that impacted on so many lives? The Little Rock 9. Many people loved them and many people also hated them. But they did not let that stop them from becoming who they are today.
The Kaiser Child Care Centers were established during the World War II by the Kaiser company for their female workers and were operated 24 hours a day. The Kaiser Company built these facilities in the shipyards so that the working mothers wouldn’t have to worry about the safety of their children and would be motivated to work more. Not only did these centers provide care for the children, they also provided the children with medical attention, and hot meals. We currently have centers like these now. Most centers now a days take care of children day-to-day so their parents can go to work and sustain their families without having to worry about their safety and well-being. These centers left an enormous legacy and demonstration of quality child

The study occurs covers in a five year analysis of the college athletics. The analysis will occur from the college athlete while in as a college athlete. The Central Artery/Tunnel Project, also known as the Big Dig, is one of the most expensive, technically challenging, and largest public projects in American history. The Big Dig was a super-project that was created to reroute the “Central Artery of Interstate 93, the main roadway through the core of the city, into the 1.5 mile Thomas P. O’Neill Jr. Tunnel.” The construction of the Big Dig “untangled the co-mingled” traffic in Boston, Massachusetts and resulted in a 62% decrease in vehicle hours of travel and reduced the afternoon peak hour by a massive 85.6%.
Helping Hand will team up with the YES Foundation of White Center because they already have a relationship with the community. We will provide children under the age of 9 with teachers to help them learn. This day care will specifically benefit toddlers because it will challenge their thinking and prepare them for the next academic school year. The risk for poverty is greater in children than in any other age group. If we provide resources for parents to receive adequate child care while they are at work more children will receive a strong foundation to be successful in the future. Even if a family passes the poverty line and reaches middle class they will be allowed to keep their free childcare for another year. This will be a support individuals escaping poverty will have.
While at my on-site orientation for tutoring at the Center for the Homeless in downtown South Bend, the volunteer coordinator made a point of bringing up the center’s Montessori preschool program. It is very unique, and she was very proud of it. She then went on to explain why the program is so important. She said that the younger kids have the greatest chance of changing their ways. The earlier they start turning their lives around, the better the chance that they will break old harmful habits and start making new helpful ones.
