The Lawndale Crown Stag Big Bear is one of my all time favorite knives. Loveless told me he only made 3 of these. I have been lucky enough to own 2 of the 3 made, the other one is with a very good friend that will not sell his at any price. Smart Man.
This Big Bear is the classic style we know so well, however, what you need to know is that this is not your average Bear. Measuring out at 1 foot, this superior knife is lavishly lined with Bob’s signature red, distinctive black and cream colors varying in widths amongst the 3 in existence. Mysteriously light, balanced and melts in the hand for such a massive blade and earthly handle material. Speaking of the handle, well, as any Loveless enthusiast will know, Bob rarely matched his stag. This

For the most intoxicating knife to ever come out of the shop, this would have to take the prize because everything about it is perfect. Loveless told me, “I will never make the perfect knife, because you will always catch your thumb nail somewhere on my knives. If you want a perfect knife, go buy one made in a factory.”
If it were not dated 70 on the blade, I would think Steve Johnson made it. No questions asked he did not, because Steve did not get to Lawndale until a year later, in 1971. It just shows you that Loveless could be as good as he needed, whenever he needed it.
This is the last major Crown Stag made by Loveless to come out of the shop in Lawndale, California 47 years ago. Back then, he was in the shop by himself trying to feed the family. It’s hard to believe he was 41 years old when he made this astonishing rare Big Bear. Bob told me it was 1969 when he decided to go full time with the knife making. He said in reminiscence, “I may starve, but I am gonna give it a go.” Little did he know then how he would light up the knife world, and help make it possible for other people to make a decent living making
Knife cuts and stab wounds usually leave marks such as straight-line incisions, punctures, gouges and clefts (Christensen, 360). Forensic Anthropologists can also determine whether or not the knife was serrated or not-serrated blades b looking at the marks made on the bones. Marks created by saws can also be analyzed. Class characteristics of saws include traits such as the tooth size and shape, teeth-per-inch, saw power, and direction of the saw cut and stroke (Christensen, 361). By analyzing the cut marks, or kerfs, found on Isabelle Gagnon’s bones, Dr. Brennan concluded that the dismemberment was likely done by a handsaw with alternating teeth and a teeth-per-inch of 10 (Reich, 195).
What do the Koyukon Indians have to know to successfully hunt a bear in the early winter?
Fig. 2. The ‘Norfolk Knife’, a sporting knife by Joseph Rodgers and Sons, as photographed in 2011 (‘The History of Joseph Rodgers’). Until 1969, the ‘Norfolk Knife’ was kept at the Norfolk Works (‘“Norfolk Knife” and Sam Holmes’), when it was auctioned at Sotheby's and bought by the Sheffield silverplate firm, Cooper Bros’ (‘Souvenir Card’). Today, the knife is on permanent display in the Cutlers’ Hall, the headquarters of the Company of

Its claws are as sharp as knives. Slice. Its teeth the size of mountains. Snap. Its jaw has the power of 10,000 blue whales. Crunch. Its eyes phosphorescence like the sun. The ligers ice white coat glimmers in the black of the night. The liger floods the town folk with trepidation as its gaze falls upon them. The habitat of the liger is as mysterious as the Bermuda Triangle. The mountains advance higher than the clouds in the sky and delivers darkness to the people who live in the
At this stage, as well as designing how the knife will look, one of the main decisions that you need to make is how you are going to attach the handles to the knife. There are three main ways of accomplishing this; a full tang, a partial tang and a through tang. The knife that I decided to make has a full tang – the handle has the same profile as the tang, with ‘slabs’ fastened to each side by means of pins, screws, metal tubing, bolts, epoxy etc. A partial tang extends partially from the blade and is completely hidden within the handle body. A through tang is similar to a partial tang but extends all the way through the handle and is secured on the other end of the knife by a nut or rivet. You can decide which one you wish to make although
Every foodie who loves to cook knows the importance of kitchen cutleries. Among them knives have their own charm. But while using it one has to be experienced and careful as well in order to avoid any accident. Moreover when we are buying it, also need to check the standard and sharpness of the edge. Largely it has been seen that after using knives for a while it is liable to lose its sharpness and become blunt. People are always mistaken to take a blunt knife to be safe, but let me tell you that when you use this blunt knife, it will tend to slip and hurt you. So it is always advised to use a sharp knife. Moreover when we speak about knives, laguiole are the well known for its reputation

SHARP & DURABLE – Mine came sharp enough to shave with right out of the box (honestly, I did it – I’ll post a pic), as well as easily slice through paper without tearing it. That classifies as razor sharp in my book! Not to mention the serrations, which cut me right out of the box after little more than a light brush alongside them. To the reviewer who said “looks awsome [sic] but is dull…” I ask, “Have you even handled this knife?” It is DEFINITELY NOT dull out of the box. But even if it
Although the spear evens them out, the hunter also has a musket but that is then equalized by the bear's sharp jaws and shear weight. The hunter should be triumphant since he has essentially cheated death since as the story states, “one great paw, striking blindly smote him down; and as he fell, the huge bulk fell half upon him, only to roll over the next instant and lie huddled and motionless upon the ice” this implies that if were to have not shot the bear before it pounced, its full weight would have crushed the hunter resulting in the hunter's death. The hunter should also be triumphant since he just defeated one of the villages greatest enemies and if were to have not, he may not have gotten the prey and died of starvation. He also had removed one of the biggest consumers of prey so more of the prey could go to the village and possibly solve the food shortage which also results in less hunger in the village. The hunter should also be triumphant since he had just received a lot of supplies. As the bear had not yet eaten the seal, the hunter could take the seal to feed the village as well as the polar bear’s fur which could make coats and its claws which could be used to fashion weapons which would therefore help the village thrive. The hunter has also removed a threat to the village. As the author states “was there something unduly solid in that purple shadow in the crevice? No, a trick of

The knife is one of the oldest tools used by humanity so it should come as no surprise that there are almost as many myths about knives as there are types of knives. These myths are not just some old folk tales told around a camp fire but myths that are actually thought to be true in the present day time. There are myths about how to care for knives and myths about how to use them. They all have something that sticks in the mind or they would not have lasted long enough to become myths. Any buyer looking to purchase knives should know why these myths are false so that you can make wise buying decisions when purchasing your very own knife.
