In the contemporary day, smartphone is no longer deemed as a luxury product as if over the past it has become very common among the society and nearly a necessity for every people. Thus undeniably, it shows that the people using the smartphone are rocketing in number and consequently to the competition among the sector. Thereof, gaining a clear idea
“More than three billion people worldwide now use the internet (Time), and 80 percent of them access if from their smartphones” (Smart Insights). A smartphone is a mobile phone that performs many of the functions of a computer, typically having a touchscreen interface, and much more. There is an abundant amount of smartphone brands out there in the world and while they all cost different prices, they all perform the same job. Each person uses their smartphone for various reasons, whether it’s for work or to make calls or texts. Smartphones have changed society in various ways, both good and bad. Although countless individuals think that smartphones have ruined American society, smartphones have actually benefited society because of more safety precautions, information on hand, and entertainment.
Smartphones are overtaking the technology world by making it easier for people to communicate with each other every day; and everything they need to do can be done right on their smartphones. Instead of having to use cameras to take pictures, computers to send emails and to play games it all can be done on one simple device; the smartphone. A big debate that still has not been settled is whether iPhones are better or if Samsungs are better. Most people would say iPhones are better than Samsungs, however, Samsungs are the better smartphones. While both phones meet the basic phone requirements such as calling and texting, Samsung is better because it does everything the iPhone can and more. However, Samsung does a better job at meeting people’s needs because it has everything the iPhone has plus more. Samsung is a better phone than the iPhone because it can set custom ringtones for different phone contacts, it also encourages multitasking with apps which allows work to get done faster, and an ID is not needed to call or text people. This is important because people will know when to pick up the phone based on the ringtone that has been assigned to a specific person.
Due to advances in technology, smartphone availability and use is far more widespread than in the past. According to a study done by Ericsson, Singapore
Over the last decade, electronic-based companies such as Samsung and Apple have collaborated with cellular-phone carriers, and have studied the average consumer to find endless ways to improve the cellular phone. As a result, the smart phone was born. With their ability to provide users with instant access to communication, entertainment, Internet access, calendar, news, social media, and much more, the smart phone revolutionized and shifted the path of modern technology. In 2006, Apple began this revolution with their release of the iPhone. Being the first proper smart phone, many other companies attempted to mimic the unbeatable features and technology that Apple had included with the iPhone.
The launch of the iPhone in 2007 transformed the humble mobile phone from a one-trick tool for communication into a catch-all platform whose functionality is constantly evolving. The smartphone … is now a pocket-size PC,” the editors wrote. “It facilitates instantaneous personal connections that make phone
Odds are, that in your pocket right now, is one of the single most advanced pieces of technology. But how did it get there? Your smartphone is the culmination of a movement that started more than fifty years ago. Although, technology as a whole has grown more in the past fifty years than in the past two thousand years. It all started with the creation of the personal computer. The first desktop computer to be mass produced and sold nationwide was the MITS Altair 8800 in 1975. However, interest in computers was very high before that point in time. In fact, several technology companies and industries already took shape before that point. These desktop computers, as well as mega computers marked the beginning of an era. This era is one that
Worldwide demand for Smartphones was robust as a result of the availability of high-speed wireless networks, mobile access to corporate intranets, and the broad acceptance of e-mail and text messaging for both business and personal communications. The Smartphone industry was projected to grow from 10 percent of the global mobile market to 30 percent over five years. The growth is clear when considering in 2007 that the US enjoyed a 100% increase in user numbers with a 53% increase worldwide. Sales of units are predicted to be 500 million for 2008 and 2009 globally.
Technology has changed the world in different sectors. One of the fastest growing industries being the phones. The primary purpose why technology introduced phones were to make communication between people more comfortable. And the fact is that since phones got to the market, everything changed in human life because you would pass information anywhere and anytime to others. Being a fast growing sector phones got modified, more digitalized devices known as smartphones got to the market and since its digital world, of course, none wanted to be left analog. Currently, the most significant number of people in the world own smartphones for various reasons some for fun and others for beneficial purposes like using them for learning. It is true that in the next near few years' smartphones will be the most critical device that people own, and the analysis below will illustrate the reason behind this.
In today’s times, the smartphone is important to communicate. Having a smartphone could mean a matter of survival – particularly when traveling abroad, searching for directions, updating reports for work, connecting with friends, family and etc. The product I pick is the iPhone. When the iPhone was launched it rocks the world of every person. The appearances of the iPhone to Americans become a trend in smartphone history. The first smartphone to become a choice set of being sleek and user friendly. The iPhone affects Americans psychologically of having the idea how convenient to surf the internet using a portable device. Therefore, the iPhone became a personal handheld computer device to have easy access to browse the internet. Moreover, consumers
"Today, nearly two-thirds (64%) of U.S. adults own a Smartphone, up from 35% in 2011."(Monica Anderson “6 facts about Americans and their smartphones) This dramatic increase shows just how popular these phones have now become over the past five years. Cell phones offer many advantages to the user such as communication, constant internet access, and the all-in-one device can house hundreds of applications and gadgets. Almost anywhere in the world at any time of the day you can get in touch with
In today’s era smartphone plays vital role and affect our lives enormously. Mobile phones were invented to answer long distance calls and at the same time its portability doesn’t bound the user to one place. The basic functions of any smartphone and a mobile phone is to answer calls and it can be used to send text messages. However, what makes smartphones different from a regular mobile phone is its capability of providing interface between extra functions or apps for its users. For example; todays smartphones can help user find directions that is by using GPS, it also helps users to operate their bank accounts without having them to go to bank and many more.
First, let us touch upon what really is a smartphone, and the evolution of the medium itself. Although the mobile phone has been used for many decades, the smartphone has been one of the most successful stories of the last decade with the advancement and complexity. Smartphones are mobile devices that offer not only the basic functions of a phone with having the ability to send a text and communicating through calls, but also being able to perform many advanced functions of a computer. Internet access, high quality camera, exceptional memory, recording devices, geo-positioning systems and more are all included within the smartphones in this day and age. With the creation of simply downloading any app on the smartphone also constructed a dynamic feature for the industry. There is an app out there for just about anything and everything, whether it is for social needs, entertainment needs, or even educational needs. This medium has forced us to adopt this certain culture where we are always connected to our peers, communities and the world. The smartphone has pierced itself into society, snatching a huge number of subscribers from five year-olds learning how to spell and speak with an app, to senior citizens keeping in touch with their family and a safety device in the event of an accident potentially.
At first, I was going to analyze and write about smartphones, however I found it more efficient to write also about a particular smartphone to narrow it down from such a broad technological artifact, such as answering who designed it, what for, what their position and the impact they want to have on society was, and their future visions. Therefore, I chose the iPhone as the centerpiece of smartphones I will be analyzing and an emphasis on applications. However, some of this information is relevant and interchangeable to all other smartphones. IPhones and smartphones allow us to access constant information and offer it the way we want it, as it is completely customizable now to fit our learning style. They keep us organized, send information to us in different ways, even shape and offer solutions such as for politics, economies, problems whether individual ones or globally. Smartphones capitalize on shared knowledge and has opened the door to inventors and those who have the knowledge to make our world a more connected place and lives easier by sharing it with us to use. We are able to communicate with other people far off, through space-time compression or shrinking-space to gather news and information.
3. It can be argues that Smartphone are increasingly becoming an everyday necessity in people’s live because of the important functions that they can do and the fact that they are all available in just one handset.
