When I think of my best memories, snowboarding is the first thing that comes to mind, those memories are some of my greatest. Going away for a ski or snowboard trip was what I got really excited for. Getting opportunity to explore what the world has to offer. I’ve been to many different hills, all with different experiences. Most good, some bad. Each trip I go on just gets better, and better. Last February my Dad, Brother and I went up to Quebec City for the weekend for a good time to bond and have fun. It was the right time to go up, leaving the province, school, problems and stress all behind us to enjoy the weekend. We left on a Thursday evening, driving ¾’s of the way to about Rivière-du-Loup, it would take about 8 hours and probably wouldn't
I drove up to Vacaville, California the night before and stayed with family. The following morning I woke up at 6 and drove to Boreal Mountain which was about a two hour drive. I snowboarded from 9am-5pm with about one break and then got in my car and drove five hours back home. My dad had to work and I had just gotten a new pair of goggles so this trip was completely necessary. This was my first trip of the year as China Peak wasn’t open yet so it was completely worth it. Snowboarding takes a snowboarder everywhere in order to chase good snow if not any snow. My passion benefits me by teaching me patience and persistence as driving for eleven hours over the course of two days is not fun by
Standing on one of the tallest mountains in North America feeling the cool, thin, icy wind. I would trade anything to get this experience again. To be 3,000 feet up in a mountain and ride down takes training and skill. Snowboarding isn’t a skill that people are born will, you must adapt to the stance and different position. When people are just starting they usually aren’t alone, most are with friends or family. My friend, Kolin, was the one that got me started into this sport and we still ride together till this day. I thank him so much for sharing the Colorado experience with me, I don’t know where I would be with out him.
When it comes to bob-sledding there are 4 main aspects of a team winning or losing. Acceleration, Drag, Friction and Momentum.
Thank you for another great post. I applaud Sprints aspiration to elevate the performance of Olympic ski and snowboard athletes. In my research, there were interesting facts related to the training tools that have shown great benefit to athletes as well as their coaches. Sprints 3G and 4G LTE networks allow ski coaches to set up wireless networks at halfpipe and slopestyle courses to capture video of athlete’s spins and flips that are instantly available on their phones.
How to begin longboarding can be really easy or really hard depends on your set-up. Skateboarding shoes are perfect, but really, any shoes with a flat bottoms work well. This will help you grip the board better than if you were wearing running shoes. While it's possible to longboard in flip flops, don't try it until you at least know what you are doing! You also need a helmet. You'll need it when starting out, and you should always wear a helmet when doing anything fast, downhill, or anything even slightly dangerous! You're gonna want to use sliding gloves even if you're not sliding itll help if you fall.
Hunter S. Thompson once said, “Anything that gets your blood racing is probably worth doing.” Throughout life you are probably going to change hobbies and try new things, but your passion is something that you enjoy doing for the rest of your life. My passion is snowboarding. It has helped me face my fears as a shy and unconfident girl. I believe that I will always be able to turn to snowboarding during anytime throughout my life.
I choose snowboarding because I like to go in the winter because its fun to do if i'm not skateboarding and I have to find a different sport when the snow falls on the ground and thats why I can’t skate snowboard instead its like skateboarding a little bit. I choose snowboarding because its fun when you go with your family or your friends so you can have someone to talk to so you won’t get bored when you go snowboarding. I choose snowboarding because it gets people out and doing something instead of sitting inside and watching T.V all day.
If you ask me, one of my favorite memories would have to be the time my friends and I went to the sled hill at Hak Island. It was a amazing day and a had lots of fun. The hill was huge but so was the line, and our coats were a little too large as well.
One of my vacations that I really liked, was when I went to Steamboat Springs. We snowboarded for many days. I liked it so much that, this spring break I am going snowboarding again. I went with a couple family members like my aunts, cousins, and uncles. At Steamboat we did many things, we ate, snowboarded, played in the snow, (which never happens in my regular life in Texas) and took classes.
About 1 year ago, my family and I went to a glorious place called Crystal Mountains. Crystal Mtn is a ski resort in Thompsonville, MI. My family went because of our yearly Christmas gift exchange. My cousins traveled to this location as well. We all stayed at the resort for a week or so on Christmas. At Crystal Mountains, we did a lot of really fun things inside and outside of the cabin. All of what we did was a blast!

Every single snowboard has its own unique design. Each and every design is made specifically for riding a certain type of terrain. A few of the terrains include: backcountry, powder, park, freestyle, and several more. Any board can be road in every single type of terrain, yet, specific boards conform to the snow in which it is specified to be rode in. My board has the flying-v design camber in it. This specific design is one of the smoothest riding styles of boards that can be road in every single type of terrain with ease at it conforms to nearly every type of snow or terrain that it comes across. These boards in a sense can be considered the expert of their specific terrains that they are made to ride in. A person has the ability to be the
In my opinion, nothing can beat carving down the mountain on a snowboard. Just being able to glide down the mountain is simply amazing to me, and that is why I love it so much. My family has a condo at Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia, and I try to make it up there just about every weekend in the winter time. Other than resorts way up north in states like Vermont, Snowshoe is one of the best in the east coast. Although I do believe that Snowshoe is great, if you haven’t been out west to ski, then you haven’t really been skiing.
One day i was late to school and the only option was my brothers skateboard. At the time I didn’t know how to ride a skateboard or let alone know how to do tricks on it. I ended up skating to school. I fell a couple of times but I made it to school with some scrapes and bruises. After that i skated everyday just to make sure i wouldn't fall like the last time. After a couple of weeks I got the hang of it and started doing tricks on it. Unfortunately, the first have my skateboard there so i can skate to school and not be late. Even though I fell and it may have seemed bad that I fell off the skateboard, I learned how to skate which was a ¨blessing in disguise¨. Another quote that can be related to this scenario is ¨Learn from your mistakes¨.
If the average person was asked what ski racing is they would respond with either a blank look or refer to the olympics. They might be able to explain the idea or throw around some famous skiers names. Most likely they would just ponder the question and not really have a clue what ski racing entails. When I tell people I did alpine ski racing in high school they give me looks of shock. Most people do not even realize that it is a high school sport. Growing up in the mountains though it was always on my mind. Every winter the snow would fall and we would strap our feet into our ever too tight of boots, click into our skis, and pull down our goggles. From the time that I could walk I was on skis. Even before I was old enough to ski my mom would have me strapped to her in her backpack ready to zoom down the
