I have been snowboarding since 2005, and since then I have been passionate about the sport. When i’m not snowboarding, I like to watch snowboarding; when i’m not watching snowboarding, i’m probably just adding things to my Burton shopping cart and wishing I was a pro so that I could afford them.
Global Warming is a major world problem that we have but people don’t seem to realize that and it may end all life on earth as we know it. We are causing many problems to the earth that we don’t realize what we are doing we may think everything is ok but it’s not. Global warming is all our fault and we need to stop!
Global warming has become an undisputed fact about our current livelihoods; our planet is warming up and we are definitely part of the problem. However, this isn’t the only environmental problem that we should be concerned about. All across the world,
Prior to watching Chasing Ice, I felt like I was well informed on the issue of climate change as well as itʻs ecological effects. Although, I also cannot recall actually spending time to understand the severity of the issue or learning of decisions that I could make as an individual that would alleviate it. After watching Chasing Ice, I realized that ignorance and the general unawareness of the public is the first component of the issue that must be addressed in order to combat it. When facts and warnings of climate change are communicated through articles and other media outlets, people are often inclined to avoid the issue. As a result, the issue does not seem as urgent as it actually is and does not receive the attention it deserves. It
Throughout time, the progression and evolution of snowboarding has increased greatly. It has gone from non existence in the late 1970’s, to one of the most watched action sports in a matter of thirty-five years. The upward takeoff and popularity of snowboarding relies on two people, Jake Burton and Shaun White. Jake Burton back in 1977 had the vision for what snowboarding would be, but Shaun White had what it took to manifest that vision. Evidence has shown that time brings change in sports, history has repeated itself with snowboarding, this history reflects the time & changes that has occurred in America.
Climate change has been a subject of discussion in the media for many years, supported with the use of arguments against oil polluting the environment and extreme scare tactics of Polar ice caps flooding civilians backyards. The issue has been ignored by the majority of lay people as seeming too complicated, and with all the conflicting information in the media in the past, who can blame them? However, scientifically, climate change and what perpetrates it is fairly simple to understand and society as a whole is beginning to come to a clear consensus on climate change. Thanks in part to more readily available forms of media and information, people have become cognizant of the fact that climate change is a legitimate problem which requires immediate amelioration. While this may seem melodramatic, society is realizing that climate change is an issue which can no longer be denied if the human race wishes to continue.
When I was twelve years old my best friend’s family decided to try snowboarding and skiing for the first time, that’s when I learned my lesson. My best friend at the time was 14, he lived right down the road from my house and his family was my second family for a long time. His name was John, he invited me on the trip as well. We went to my house to ask my parents about the trip five day snowboarding trip. I asked them separately and got two different answers. My dad was all for it, he even offered to pay for everything. My mom on the other hand was worried because it was all the way in Pennsylvania and it was five days away from me . The fact that I had never been on a snowboard or skis in my life didn’t help my argument either. So as the day approached I still hadn't received a direct answer from my mom. So Tim, my friend’s dad went to my house and reassured her that I was in good hands and all that good stuff. When he arrived back at his house he said through my friend’s door “ Get packed we are leaving in two days” and the arrangements were made. On the day of the trip, my dad gave Tim the money for my equipment and such. He also turned to me and handed me my very first 100 dollar bill for whatever I wanted or needed on the trip. My mom handed me a prepaid cell phone and she told me to call her twice a day. I went
Thank you for another great post. I applaud Sprints aspiration to elevate the performance of Olympic ski and snowboard athletes. In my research, there were interesting facts related to the training tools that have shown great benefit to athletes as well as their coaches. Sprints 3G and 4G LTE networks allow ski coaches to set up wireless networks at halfpipe and slopestyle courses to capture video of athlete’s spins and flips that are instantly available on their phones.
I chose this topic because I wanted to find out what the impacts of climate change can make on the ski industry. Snowboarding is a very big part of my life and it is important for all of us as it brings in all the tourists into our country.
When I polled a few of my friends about “what is the single most critical problem facing us today?” I got a frequent response that’s not so shocking, climate change. So why climate change? Why not obesity, or population control, or education? While all of those are problems that deserve discussion, no single topic is so fundamental to us as humans as climate change. In 2007 Al Gore stated in his person of the year interview that “Today we 're dumping 70 million tons of global-warming pollution into the environment, and tomorrow we will dump more, and there is no effective worldwide response. Until we start sharply reducing global-warming pollution, I will feel that I have failed.” (Walsh) Perhaps the paradigm has changed. Climate change is now talked about at every level of government, in large and small businesses, and communities across the globe. It’s a topic that functions to affect our economy and our environment. Moving forward, it’s important to understand why our way of life will be affected by the way we tackle these issues surrounding climate change. Climate change is the single most important issue affecting the human race today due to its widespread impact on our survival; impacting food sources, transportation, weather, geography and other life forms on the earth.
Do you enjoy snowboarding? Have you ever thought about looking into some ski cameras to help you perfect your technique? Snowboarding can be loads of fun and recording your runs can also be very rewarding. But aside from recording yourself snowboarding for personal reasons or for personal use, have you ever thought about how using a snowboard camera could actually help you save someone's life?
When I think of my best memories, snowboarding is the first thing that comes to mind, those memories are some of my greatest. Going away for a ski or snowboard trip was what I got really excited for. Getting opportunity to explore what the world has to offer. I’ve been to many different hills, all with different experiences. Most good, some bad. Each trip I go on just gets better, and better. Last February my Dad, Brother and I went up to Quebec City for the weekend for a good time to bond and have fun. It was the right time to go up, leaving the province, school, problems and stress all behind us to enjoy the weekend.
After producing snowboarding films prior to The Fourth Phase, it was time for Travis and Curt to step things up a notch. In 2012/2013, the two of them started to plan their next big thing, they would title it The Fourth Phase. This film was not supposed to be like any other snowboarding film ever made, it was supposed to be something entirely different. Creating a different vibe for viewers was one of the main goals set by Curt and Travis before a long 700+ day production started. Now this may just be for me, but opening credits is something that can either shy me away from a film or have me glued to it for hours. In the opening for The Fourth Phase, my eyes were glued to the screen, all the graphics, sound effects, music, etc., just made
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about three issues of how global warming is affecting our weather, animals, and our future.
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
