“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.”
All over the world, soccer is the main reason how some social classes, religion, and ethnicity are today. Foer believes soccer is everything and it can decide how a country does in politics and economics for years to come.
Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to a global pastime, including men’s and women’s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four years).
Oxford University defines soccer as a game played by two teams of eleven players with a round ball that may not be touched with the hands or arms during play except by the goalkeepers. Despite this accurate description, I disagree. My definition is slightly different, I define soccer as an intricate culture only understood and accepted by those who are involved in it. Soccer players see soccer as more than a game, they see it as a lifestyle. I believe that soccer is not just a sport, but a culture. Rather than separating people even more than they already are in today's political climate it unites people through a common love and passion. This is something the world desperately needs with all the violence and anger taking place.
Youth football has been around for a long time, but after the rise of injuries in the highly
Soccer, the most popular sport in the world that has brought cities and nations together can be used as a metaphor to show how the world has grown together over time. Soccer, more commonly known as “The Beautiful Game” or “The World Game.” When the world stops for 90 minutes to witness that one thing we all understand, this is soccer. Soccer was first Recorded during the second and third centuries B.C. in China, where people would kick balls into small nets. The football association was started at the Freemason’s Tavern in 1863; it eventually would change to FIFA in 1904, as countries from around the world would join the association. (Jezek) Eventually as the association would expand and gain popularity they
Will football one day be played with balls made from gold? At its current rate, anything could happen, but it would have to have a few brand logos stapled to it first.
The game of football is being attacked. We see it every day in the headlines and on the news. The medical concerns are obvious. The game has taken more than its share of criticism. Even President Barack Obama said that if he had boys he wouldn’t let them play football. LeBron James publicly said no football in his house. So the question is asked all the time, Why would anyone want to play football? And why would anyone let their kids play? Here’s my answer. I believe there’s practically no other place where a boy is held to a higher standard then football. Football is hard, it’s tough, it demands discipline, it teaches obedience, it builds character. Football is a metaphor for life.
Not only does the world affect soccer and its ideas, but soccer creates substantial effects on the world as well. Soccer extensively influences politics all over the world, some of its effects positive and some negative. One of the major positive effects the sport can have is its power to stop wars and bring nations together. One prime example of this is in 1967, Pele, a world famous Brazilian soccer star played in an exhibition match in Nigeria . Prior to this event, Nigeria had been in the middle of a civil war, but when Pele arrived to play in the match, the country called a 48-hour cease-fire just to honor Pele and his talent . In 2007 in Ivory Coast, the same thing happened again, only this time, Ivory Coast’s own soccer team united the nation. Ivory Coast had been at war with itself for five years when the national team played in the rebel capital. Both government supporters and rebels were next to each other cheering in the stands because of soccer instead of politics (“Football- A Beautiful Game…”). Another time countries have made peace over soccer was in 2008 and 2009 when Turkey and Armenia played in a World Cup qualifying game. The leader of Turkey and Armenia met to watch the game together consequently thawing relationships between the two countries (Weiner). Soccer can also be a vehicle for various movements, especially in the Middle East, where

The football program is to dangerous and should be eliminated because it is way to dangerous to keep. 100,000 concussions occur every year from football that's more than how many shark attacks occur each year, most of the concussions result in death so basically 100,000 teen's/kid's die just from playing football. Over 500,000 injuries occur annually to american youth from playing football that's five thousand only from just playing football now sport injury all together is 30 million. 80% of the knee injuries suffered from playing football require surgery and the surgery could cause further complications with the athletes knee could even cause him/her to never play a sport again, something could go wrong in the knee surgery and affect the
I choose a topic about the finances of the Washington Redskins who are part of the largest sports league in North America, the National Football league. I have always been intrigued by the teams earning potential and while being part of one of the most controversial branding battles in league history regarding the team’s name, they consistently rank in the top three in annual revenue. Amidst the team’s on-going controversy, could residing in the major sports market of the National Capital region aid to the Washington football teams financial success or does being part of the $8 billion dollar corporation known as the National Football league guarantee’s substantial returns?
Soccer (Football) is the most popular and fastest growing sport in the world. Over 240 million people play it regularly around the world. However, most people only get to view one side of soccer in their lifetime. They never get a glimpse of it in any other setting. For many people soccer is a very competitive organized sport. For others it is an everyday, fun activity. In some countries, soccer is their life, while in others it is just a sport. For those of you that don’t know, soccer is a sport where the objective is to score goals by kicking a ball into the other teams goal. It is a mix of offense and defense, with very fast paced action. You are allowed to use any body part except your hands and elbows. Soccers first appearance traces back to 3000 years ago in ancient China. But, the first modern version of soccer originates from Victorian England. Since then, soccer has spread around the world to the point where almost every country plays some form of it. I am going to address how it is different around the world and the reasons for this.

Not much is known about the origin of soccer. However, the Greeks and Romans played football and ball kicking games. The London Football Association developed the first sets of rules in 1863. British sailors and settlers brought the game to India, South America and Europe.
