The time I got kicked out of a soccer game. I've been taught that violence is normally never the answer. But about three months ago I got into a fight with some kid at a soccer game. Also that, that was a good time to use violence, because I had fought back because there was no other choice. It was a very cloudy day and felt very cool outside. I didn't really know what I was thinking. He was starting to start a fight with me and I was going to stick up for myself so I punched him in the face. So the referee came over and kick me and that kid out of the game. I was somewhat dismayed about the whole incident, but my parents’ blow up in flames when they saw the referee pull out the red card. After that, I realized that violence was the answer.
I was back against the wall ready to block a push. I was in PE and we were playing kickball we just came back from the outfield. I was 5th in line and was probably going to get the kick but then this guy and his friends cut me.
The referee flipped his coin, signaling the start of what seemed to be a never ending soccer game. As the captains ran back from the center circle, the referee called over his shoulder, “Girls, we’re going to be playing big girl soccer today, so I won’t be calling any fouls.” Not surprisingly, this game turned out to be the most injurious game in my soccer career. When the final whistle blew, there was a total of two concussions, a dislocated hip, a blown out knee, and countless scrapes and bruises on all of us contenders. The parents, rooting for their respective teams, were the ones horrified most of all. While they could have yelled at the referee, acted in an impolite manner, and possibly had their team disqualified from the tournament, they decided to follow the civil process established by the league; this was writing letters of complaint and sending them to the tournament organizer. Through this process, the parents were able to express their displeasure with the referee without compromising the team’s ability to win.
We were playing Fond du lac, and they were good. So our teams gets on the ice and we start playing. We score two goals right away in the beginning. They were starting to get mad. After we scored to make it 3-0 they started sending out kids that would hit our players. Our team then started to retaliate. So we were getting penalties and before you knew it the score was 2-3. We started to realize that it wasn’t worth retaliating. There was about two minutes left in the game, and we played shutdown defense. Nobody was getting a shot on our goalie. The game ended 3-2 us so we were on our way to
Throughout the years, sporting events has been a place for fans to forget about what is going on in their life, take a break from the real world, and focus on the game. Often, many fans don't just watch and keep up with sports solely because of the type of sport, but also to keep up with their favorite athletes and teams. However, the aggressive and violent nature of the sports can often be carried over from the field to real life, impacting not only the athlete and the team, but also the fans.
It all started on a Saturday Morning, It was one of the biggest rugby games of the season, Saint Albans College VS Saint Jones College. The game started, I wasn’t really the best player in the under 14B team and I wasn’t really the worst player, if you didn’t know all saint schools bought players .There was only one player I was scared of on the rugby field his name was Munashe . This player was over 2 meters tall and was twice my size. The score was 25-10 to Saint Albans College, There was 4 minutes left of the game Saint Jones just needed a try and a kick to win the game. Saint Jones had a scrum
How does this selection connect/relate to another selection from the course reading? How much might it differ? What are the values in the similarities? In the differences?
Many people regard football as the most violent sport a person can play. Masculinity is often seen in football and players are always trying to prove their dominance over one another. The violence that people see in football is attractive to many and they love to see a receiver come across the middle and get “lit up” by the linebacker. The vicious hits that the fans love so much are also the cause of pain for the players who are the ones getting hit.
When I got close to the net I was tripped by the opposition and I fell, I was still close enough to be able to jam the puck into the net. I started celebrating since that would basically mean that we won the game, however, the ref blew his whistle after I had scored. His call was that it was a penalty for tripping and the goal or the penalty shot was not going to be rewarded. Right then and there I lost it and quarreled with the ref. He penitalized me for unsportsmanship and I was put in the slammer. That cost our team and we were beaten with only 20 seconds left. This left me mad, therefore after the game, I decided confronted the ref aggressively and was told to leave before I was suspended. As I was leaving I slammed my stick against the boards and tried to drag it into the bench entrance but I turned my stick horizontally making a closeline and falling. I felt like the opposition saw and made a joke out of it. Somehow when I was coming out of the dressing room I did the same. I was depressed but I learned that I need to control my temper or else it will cause me trouble. The worst part was not realizing that It was all my fault and I cost the
Hockey has always been known to be a physical sport; it is full of body checks, hits from behind, sometimes the misuse of the hockey stick, and even fights. Now all off these are deemed acceptable by hockey fans to a certain extent. When a player swings his stick at another player and an injury occurs to the opposing man the instigator can usually expect to be penalized for a short amount of time, maybe even a suspension from the team for a few games. But when does this violent act on the ice become a criminal offence? Does it take for the recipient to break his neck, or maybe even loose his vision for us to take a serious look at what happened and realize that this is not what we are looking to watch when we sit down to watch a game.
Football is one of America’s favorite pastimes which is usually introduced to children at a young age. Football has many pros and cons, which has made it a debatable topic among parents; this has lead many to question whether they should allow their children to play such a sport. Many argue that football is a violent sport and although this may be true; it also teaches kids how to be part of a team, have character, and stay in shape.
Has football become a violent sport? I think it has gotten worse every time somebody plays. You could get serious injuries which could also be permanent! If your a coach you could get sued for somebody getting injured or hurt really bad. Some people could get memory loss, broken bones, concussions, and most importantly your grades could slip in school. Football might not be a good idea for a sport.
THESIS: Contact sports have been here since the medieval times. Soccer was also already being put into sport use by china in the dynasties. Implied, players on both teams have agreed to be hit, pushed, shoved, and possibly fought. What can be used for considering when or where a player crosses the line? Using examples from previous court cases, we will examine how players in the NHL could be charged when excessive force against other players in the opposite team come into play. Having hockey being used for an example, we will examine and look at the rules of the NHL, as well as how Todd Bertuzzi from the Vancouver Canucks stepped over the line, and was charged with assault.
I had always acknowledged the concept of racism and lamented those who’ve been affected, but it wasn’t until I experienced it firsthand that I fully understood its emotional toll. In the summer of 2014, I traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina to play for a soccer academy that one of my coaches was affiliated with. As a sixteen-year-old boy, all I wanted to do was showcase my abilities in the motherland of my heroes. Diego Maradona and Juan Riquelme are just two of the legends who blossomed on Argentinian soil before establishing their legacies in Europe. My dream had always been to follow in their footsteps, and so I made my way to Argentina, all alone, for a month, to chase my dreams. Boasting a radiant smile and positive energy, I expected those around me to greet me with the same attitude. Unfortunately, all I faced was
Some other pastimes of soldiers included a form of football that is actually more like a big brawl that often resulted in broken noses and fractured limbs. One of the more violent games played was a snowball battle where entire brigades would line up, develop attack plans, and set out to attack the other side with hard missiles of snow and ice. These often resulted in black eyes, bruises, and an occasional broken limb.
Violence is defined as the use of excessive physical force, which causes or has obvious potential to cause harm or destruction to an individual. Violence in sports comes in many forms, and divides into social and cultural factors related to the sport ethic, gender ideology, the dynamics of social class and race, and the tactics used in sports. Violence in sports has gone too far because sports violence has become so severe in sports, that players are injured each years. However, in sports some violence has become entertaining for the fans and fans would begin their own violence around with other fans that support opposing teams to win. The violence in sports can cause severe casualties from collisions to concussions that may result in long-term mental or physical damage.
